  1. I know we hear that this is a high talent level draft and there could be kids who come on strong during the season but as of now is the talent level greater among the college kids or HS kids ? Don't you think that with a decent core in the making now that its possible that 2 of the top 3 picks could be collegians with an eye on 2028 and 2029 to be back to being a lot more competitive if Cholowski and a high quality collegian in the 2nd round is available who has a high ask that might be available to the Sox ?
  2. Any Getz victory is a White Sox victory. Are you not OK with that ?
  3. Sure but not really if the plan is to sell the team when he dies he might be on the hook for all of a long term deal if he lives longer than expected and the 2029 sale to Ishbia's falls through because JR is still around. It also seems like slightly more than the bare minimum is being allocated to players now. It's a stretch to even imagine $90M spent on players this year and they havent signed anyone to a 3 year + deal since Getz was hired. Indications are he hardly wants to be on the hook for 2 year contacts unless the player can be traded. Plus even less likely with the good possibility of paying players through a lengthy work stoppage in 2027 which he doesnt like doing.
  4. And it will continue. Not expecting a 90% approval rating. He done good and questionably things. Even though Ive been at the forefront of the give him a chance he's trying to change something thats been bad a very long time brigade, theres still no money left for the roster. It seems like with JR he's given up trying to compete which he's already admitted about the current location of the team without a support village of moneymaking attractions around it. So more money than usual is going into infrastructure. That's the complete opposite of how JR used to operate where the 26 man roster was the focus based on the money mostly from attendance and TV advertising, merchandising etc. JR crys poor when he can't treat both with equal attention. Its only infrastructure now because it takes less money to support then a roster that requires more than half a billion dollars to compete. Ohtani was $700M alone and the Dodgers have to pay many many other players over the length of that 10 year contract with $68M deferred annually .
  5. Im impressed that under further review you can say your initial take on Getz was lacking evidence to draw any meaningful insight. It's also something that most angry fans hardly ever admit that their ignorance in things that go on behind the scenes is not always a simple, defining equation of guilt . Kudos ! In court its called circumstantial evidence.
  6. I think it can't be stated enough that Getz emphasizes a team effort in many important decisions . There are scouts and heads of departments and analytical data people who are all likely consulted on player acquistion. Getz just doesnt wake up one morning and say to Carlos Rodriguez hey do you want to be Asst.GM ? This could've been in the works since he lost his last job. I'm sure someone keeps track of execs from other clubs and their histories, like a scouting report of executives. One guy cannot be an expert in all facets of creating what Getz is trying to create and he's likely aware of his weak points. This is why you surround yourself with people with good reputations in other areas of team and culture building.
  7. Mainly because showing our front office some respect is not an easy thing to do for many people until the results start showing up on the diamond. But generally people are good with a former front office Tampa Bay executive being hired.
  8. And most of this has happened after he got rid of Grifol. I think his 1st year on the job was just familarizing just trying to evaluate the people who were still left from the old regime that he wanted gone and making some upgrades that were long overdue. After that came the major hirings that are still ongoing. I kept saying that fans dont really buy into structural changes . The backlash was always " we' ve heard all this before" and the running joke about the early KC hires. But it's pretty clear now that he's getting some respect. Im glad your post outlined as much as you can remember. Ive been doing it piecemeal throughout the process and felt the backlash because it just takes a while for most serious organizational practices to change the outcomes on the field. And without backing from ownership to put real money into the roster it's still a battle that is extremely difficult to win until it translates to sustainable success on the field, even moreso with Covid, labor disputes and interference from the meddling owner who never realized the importance of putting money into multiple layers of player development domestically and abroad. JR will get praised for having some high ( for him) payrolls but a lot of things got neglected when the player payroll was high.
  9. Hey now youre going to be accused of stalking the poor guy and he's going to block you. 🤣 You better back off bub ! 😋😜 ( these emojis mean I'm just being facetious for anyone not sure)
  10. Im not sure youre talking about the same person ,the sarcastic optimist or the Debbie Downer ? You have to admit that even moves that are difficult to find fault with there's always the guy saying how lucky or hilarious it all is.
  11. Oh I dont know thats a tough one. Everything the Sox do is just luck. They didnt help make Crochet or Colson better they just lucked into it. It was all on the players . They call up prospects too soon or wait too long. They can't develop but there are late round draft choices that have prominent roles on the team. Their coaching staff causes injuries. We should all be embarrassed and hide. So YES !! Let it grow, let it grow, let it blossom , let it flow !
  12. I already told you. But Ill add that the decision is coming up very soon. Robert likely wont be traded by late Monday afternoon and O'Hearn is more the Sox speed if they also plan to sign another starting pitcher and/ or relief pitcher and OFer. And JR is in sell the team because Im almost 90 yrs. old mode not I can now take on the richest contract in White Sox history mode .
  13. Lack of experience most likely and need more reps. Baldwin has the same problem in the OF. He's very fast but if you check his range its pitiful. He's literally learning how to judge fly balls so his jump must be atrocious. Then when he does get there on time I've seen him take his eyes off the ball and clank a few.
  14. Wre not far apart on our AAV and I forgot about the posting fee. So basically you expect the The Sox to hand out their biggest contract ever that Jerry could be on the hook for most of or even all of it ? To be polite Ill just say I strongly disagree but admire how you view the current status of the franchise although I find it somewhat delusional. 🙂
  15. No way he gets that little. Guessing $100M easy maybe 5 years. Could be bigger.
  16. Give me a prediction on the contract the Sox are going to give him .I need to hear this. White Sox not Red Sox just to be clear.
  17. I trust your process but not your conclusions since JR still owns the team and has shown 0 interest in the team except to lower the payroll significantly since he hired Getz and got the Ishbia's to take over ownership eventually and help pay off debts while JR is planning his estate for the benefit of his children, not for Sox fans. There's also no indication the Ishbia's are putting out any money towards players as of yet.
  18. I said what I said tongue in cheek . I just meant it for the power and K rate. As I said later in the post, I know I cheapening Murakami's by saying what I did by quite a bit.
  19. I think you're making a good case for him except the OBP is just terrible. You e got to be more than a . 295 OBP when your BA is .265 You're right the Sox cant afford to trade his power. And as much as they want to improve defensivelyand get more left handed on the infield they still need power and guys to trade. That might mean giving Sosa and Vargas their AB's and hope the bats and gloves of both show enough progress to be worth more than they are now. All of the young position players need to hit the ground running. Cannot get off to an atrocious April start again. Robert, Teel, Vargas, Sosa, C. Montgomery, Quero, Meidroth, Baldwin need to hit the ground running. Pitchers have to do their part too. It'd be nice to get some quality starts and rack up some saves.
  20. So its a more expensive, proven in Japan version of Tim Elko. Except he's LH and Elko is RH . Elko should go to Japan. He might be a star there. I know I'm cheapening his value considering he was a superstar in Japan while still very young. Ill be interested in following him since we are hearing scouts call him a boom or bust kind of guy. I think its more likely he'll hit a lot of bombs and K a lot and be neither a bust nor a boom. He'll be worth his contract. Im highly skeptical the Sox get him because money as usual even if he signs a fairly reasonable contract. Sox arent doing reasonable if it involves 3+ years over $50M. There's no way JR wants to pay anyone during the strike season.
  21. I think I picked him in whatever that thread was about off season signings dreams over a month ago. Okamoto likely to go for more. Don't they all have the same deadline ?
