He's always been a great minor league pitcher but that fastball hasn't got any faster. It was mostly 89-91 yesterday, threw one at 93 according to comments I saw on a podcast. But it does look like he'd be the favorite unless they go back to Schultz. I'd like to see Cannon's next start too and see if he can keep up what he's been doing . I know we think the Sox may not consider him anymore but if his command has improved as much as it looks like he can be a viable option again. Plus he already got innings built up so when he is pitching well he can go 6. Thorpe has passed all the tests so far but the 1st year after TJ surgery can be rough. He's just getting back to the pitch that was lethal in his hey day but it is a very good sign that he can be a lot better than he has been this year if he harnesses the feel for his changeup again.

Not really big bucks this season and next year if you count the Domiquez salary against his it's under $15M in 2027. If he ends up being 4 or less ERA its a good investment for a guy with playoff experience who still has a lively arm and can eat innings. You saw proof or what he can do tonight.

Just a great all around game for Luis Catillo ! 10 K in 7 IP, 1 hit , picked a guy off 1st and made a beautiful glove scoop on a bunt. Great all around defense too. Antonncci diving play at 2nd base, leaping catch at the wall in LLCF by Peters playing LF with Doyle in CF. Braden also a nice diving catch in the 9th inning. Meidroth important 2 run HR in the 6th to get us from 1 to 3 run lead and another hit. Antonacci 3 hits. Murakami extended his on base streak to 27 which currently is tied for tops in the AL and longest by a Sox player since Abreu did it in 2022. Long way off from the single season record of 54 games by Luke Appling and the team record 57 game streak by Frank Thomas covering 2 seasons. Romo 1st HR in a while and another hit and a big smiles. Castillo looking right into the camera with a big smile and the 🫶 . I guess the small sample size of his 1st ever start for the Sox did not determine the outcome of his whole White Sox career. Shocker. Clueless. Meatballs.

Quite impressive outing by Castillo. He finished really strong ! Did exactly what the Sox got him for tonight.

I'm going with Cannon based on his last 3 starts in AAA 6 IP all 3 starts and 0 walks. Kind of a long shot but the guy pitching the best at the moment .

I've watched so much baseball over the years that the losses in a season like this where its been a gift don't bother me. I'm enjoying it for the most part except for our fans freaking out and constantly panicking. I just don't understand how anyone panics over 1 start from Castillo. He'll have about 30 more starts between now and next year unless a lot of next season is cancelled. It would be great to get in the playoffs but it's not a given . If we do ,cool ,it would be nice to win a playoff series but honestly if there was a poll now that asked do you think the Sox will be playing in the World Series I'm pretty sure only a small minority of fans here are delusional enough to think that will happen. I honestly though that our chances were just about the same before the trade deadline as after it. But it was necessary to show that you'd take a shot at improving the team. We'll see how it goes.

Great job Bonemer. I told that Panic King that the Sox would rebound with 2 of 3 from Cleveland. He never learns. Can't just enjoy an unexpectedly good season . Sox are in as good of a position as they have been all season because the division sucks and its the Sox division for the taking if they just continue to beat division opponents. Only 2 of the starting pitchers traded at the deadline won their 1st game , Gausman and Dustin May everyone else either lost of was a no decision.

We were talking about the 1 Castillo game with the Sox. If you want to think that meaningful for how the rest of his starts go that's fine But at least you're not jumping for joy about it when you were too afraid to grade the trade deadline acquisitions like someone else is doing.
