  1. How did u get Whitesox2023 to agree with you? I'm stumped. You just said the likely return from the Cease trade will probably be 3 x better than the Sale trade which is pretty unlikely given the amount of WAR Moncada and Kopech have already and in Kopech's case still may accumulate when he just said it was a light return while I said calling it light is premature until we see how it plays out which could be10 years from now. Maybe it was your second paragraph .
  2. SO what I'm gathering is that you have a better idea of who to play to replace the recently deceased. All I'm expecting is better than 1 and 8 in the next 9 games to be able to say they did better without those guys since they are 1-0 already without them once Moncada went down yesterday and they were without all 3 of them. The rest of the season you just play matchups and hope for a good showing. It would be best if Eloy can come back and hit like he's supposed to before he gets injured again.
  3. The incredibly small sample sizes have been the only good results so far. Eloy sucked in his small sample size then got hurt. Vaughns small sample size was bad. Fletchers bad. Maldonado bad, Pillar bad, Maldonado and Stassi bad. Some one has to play CF . Who is that going to be most of the time Pillar, Fletcher or Colas ? Who's going to DH against RH and LHP ? Just start mixing and matching against the pitching and PH late in games. If you want to keep Vaughn , OK, sure but he has to step up and do something besides hit into DP and hit and field terribly. Availability is a huge part of ability and and even with them they went 1 and 9. You can keep Fletcher and Colas in most of the time in the same OF against RHP and work in Pillar and Grossman. Sosa and Colas may provide a bit more pop maybe not I'm willing to find out rather than playing Grossman and Pillar. If SHeets stops hitting against RHP pitching playing DH then pick another option.
  4. Never said they were better I said it wouldn't surprise me they hit better than they have been so far. Why should Vaughn and Maldonado keep getting ABs ? Vaughn should play against LHP. Sheets against RHP. Lee should play as much as possible over both Stassi and Maldonado. Do you think Colas is worse than Sheets in RF or is a worse hitter than Pillar or Fletcher ? They will miss Moncada's fielding and some of his OBP or hitting but its not like he was a great slugger. He's good for around a .420 slugging percentage. Of course they will miss the fielding and hitting of Robert but pre injury Robert wasnt exactly tearing the cover off the ball except for 1 game. Over an extended period it might all equal out or slightly better or worse but better than what had already transpired. They already have a head start with the win yesterday. Maybe you were impressed with the 1-9 start. Didnt seem like it from your comments in game threads.
  5. I realize everything with you is Short Attention Span Theater but the verdict is a long way off on the Cease trade. It wouldnt have done the Sox any good to hold onto him into the season. Not only did they want his salary off the books they didnt want to chance him getting hurt. If only they had found takers for Moncada, Eloy and Robert while he was healthy coming off his best season but nooo everyone thought he had finally found the magic and he was worth more than the Sox could ever get in return.
  6. It wouldnt surprise me that they become a better hitting team with Sosa, Colas , Lee and Sheets. Despite 90% of the fans calling for Sheets head he's been the one of the few hitters performing well .Tied with Moncada for the team lead with 5 walks, leading team in OBP. Him and Korey Lee have been the top hitters. Sheets might as well play every day at 1st or DH.
  7. I don't think this too meatyballer only because I think the same thing. Football players build strength and lift a lot of weights make hard cuts, slow down, speed up, spin, contort , have huge men hanging on them and they keep running and yes they too will get hurt , twist an ankle, blow out a knee, pull a hammy etc., but they are dragging extra weight , getting slammed into from all angles, playing in rain sleet and snow in colder conditions than baseball and yet our guys cant run a straight line and step on a base and make a turn without damaging themselves. I do have a hard time blaming the training staff . I mean if the manager asks the player are you good enough to go and the player says yes, you play him or you could say look we suck with or without you and you have a contract year coming up. We don't want you to get hurt worse so lets IL you until u feel 100% . No one however is MAKING them play as @fathom said. That's meatball even if you try to back it up by saying you've heard bad things about the training staff in the majors and minors. Share it ahead of time, not after the fact. Protect your source and just say what you heard . Innuendo and hearsay isnt good. However I will also say that you have investments to protect and Yoan is an investment even if a long shot to get something at the deadline. Getz or someone has to be on top of it and tell the manager it's not the end all be all to play Yoan, Eloy and Robert if they have ouchies. Those were the guys you had to really try to protect .Goals of playing X amount of games are silly. Play when you're healthy so you can have a better chance of staying healthy.
  8. You're all over the place. It's like you grew up staring at littles screens and you can't see everything around you, the room it's in, the house.the town and the big world. JR is full of s%*#. The rebuild failed , andthey lost 100 games last year just to catch you up on things. Apparently you were not aware of these things and that the Sox were very bad and that they were cutting payroll as much as possible. What possible outcome you expected this year I can't comprehend. Yes players get injured and guys who get injured a lot get injured more often. Fringe talent plays like fringe talent. Dumpster dive players rarely work out. Bargains rarely work out. The plan seemed to be get cheap pitching and see if you can make it better and trade it. Perhaps maybe your often injured players could stay healthy and you could get something for them too. But we always knew that it wasn't a good plan. The failures were going to outweigh the successes because you're picking up turds and polishing them . Hope you understand whats going on now.
  9. This is the way to objectively look at things. Whining about Getz or the poor hitting is like whining that the Pope is Catholic. It's supposed to be that way . Good defense plus good hitting equals All Star players. Just good fielding and bad hitting = guys like DeJong Lopez, Stassi and Maldonado .In Maldonado case it's hard to imagine he got the money he did.You have to wonder if anyone looked at hours of video of him last year or scouted him. He can barely catch thrown pitches any more. Getz made the decision given the budget , to try and get as many reclamation type pitchers he could for as cheap as he could get them and make them look as good as possible with a good defense behind them.None of them are signed long term so you trade them if they perform well and keep building the farm. For every success he was going to have 2 or 3 failures. It wasn't meant to reap a bushel full of talent in return or create a winning team. All it was meant to do was get younger and more talent in the minors. It wasn't a great plan but great plans do not come from the money he had to work with. So far there have been some pitchers looking good. We'll see if it lasts till harvest time and it's sold off for some magic beans.
  10. It's not the acquired vets that are getting hurt. It's the same old guys who always get hurt . Please try harder to put 2 plus 2 to get the right answer next time. Also Colas and Sosa are not at the points in their careers that they can be labeled as being rushed. Maybe Colas wasn't ready last year but it's not like he was too young. He just didn't have a lot of upper level experience. Maybe they both can do better with this chance.
  11. Today was a good recipe for a win. I'm glad Sosa is in the lineup and will be pleased when Colas is too. They deserve their chances. It's just been odd to me that they went from pretty well regarded guys to bums in a lot of fans eyes just because of failure in the brief times up in Sosa's case and a bit longer trial for Colas. Too bad they couldn't figure out a way to get Kelenic. It's a shame the old core who are actually still pretty young get injured so often and underperformed. They got so many fans hopes up that they'd scorn anyone who dared to criticize them or look at them through non rose colored glasses. The same thing is going on right now with Montgomery .But because of the state of the franchise and the fans total disenchantment with all things White Sox it's not as bad now as it was when you dared question Vaughn ability. Jack Parkman took a lot of grief for questioning the Sox taking a RH slow 1st baseman so high in the draft. Then when you get beat up after being right all along it's bad form to call the smug mfers out because now you're fragile ( to use our favorite mods favorite word) or a braggart. Being a fan on a forum is some fucked up fan boy s%*# where the sheep frat boy mentality rules. Now it's fashionable to beat on everything White Sox non stop only it's the players, the manager, the FO still taking the daily beatings when it's the one guy in charge who created the mess because he's a capitalist baseball fan when those things don't mix very well. I guessed he proved to himself that frugality and a bit of luck could win a championship once every 50 fifty years but it's a bad way to run a sports franchise .
  12. This is probably the inning the Guardians take the lead for good.
  13. Ozzie would take the Sox manager job if offered in a heartbeat but I'd also think he'd want more than JR might offer him.
  14. I think we need another thread trying to predict the future. I don't mind if you're asking to predict how a rookie season might go like long ago about Jose Abreu , but asking predicting the trade value of multiple pitchers trying to return to former glories and glories that have never been achieved in 3 months is an exercise in futility. We'll see what happens when or if they get there.
  15. Remember all that talk about him being untradeable because he was worth so damn much . 🤣 And fans think the Sox front office is stupid.
  16. Ha damn I was going to put that in my prognosis right before I hit send instead of ankle when I was trying to recall his major injury. Thought it was hip related
  17. I'm doubting the Achilles unless it was fairly mild. Achilles he'd go down . I think the calf , hammy, ankle likely.
  18. Lol I only brought it up because I read about 10 different opinions on the call. Most angles showed nothing , the ones looking at it from the first base view behind the runner, because you couldn't see his foot. After the tag on the foot the glove came up very quick and missed everything else by a wide margin ,which is what you see from perhaps a LF camera in front of the runner. Royals announcers were saying the knee . I was like wtf are they looking at. I saw top of the upper half on his foot. That's the only angle I saw that showed a tag.
  19. Finally someone sees it correctly. Got him on the shoe and nowhere else.
  20. It changed nothing. It was just a more public display of who was in charge. Jerry Reinsdorf.
  21. The rebuild was doomed to fail from the start. Hahn, Williams and JR especially we're still running things. Organizational failures go right to JR . Sure he let his GM get old nearly washed up veterans for Tatis Jr. and Marcus Semien. Chris Bassett is still pitching effectively. Where's one International guy from the DR who became anything with the Sox ? It's laughable to hear Getz talk about the DR academy. DR was too corrupt for St. Jerry to conduct business but that's just an excuse to not invest in youth which has always been his calling card along with not paying for tech and people to develop it. These tired old arguments trying to pinpoint one major mistake and wrap it all up with a bow are just lame. It's one person Jerry Reinsdorf .
