  1. Does it really matter ? I mean sure if the general board consensus is that Sheets should be gone at all costs . If the object is to win games with the best, cheapest motley crew they can assemble while still attempting to not rush their motley crew of prospects it doesn't matter what they do. Everyone assumes Vaughn will keep getting chances to show he'll get better I wouldn't be totally surprised if the Sox think Sheets has made some kind of adjustment that may make him a better hitter against RHP than Vaughn. Maybe they send Sheets down and see if he smashes RHP in the minors better than he has in the past. They still need power from the left side.
  2. It's obvious JR wants to spend as little as possible when necessary. Really no reason to pay Pillar or Moustakas more when they could pay less for others players to perform on a level more or less equal to the numbers those guys would put up. Pillar's is back , he just had take a cut in his hoped for salary. We don't know how JR is thinking . He talked about competing as quickly as possible but he's clearly talking out of both sides of his mouth when his actions clearly indicate he's crying poor and making every attempt to avoid losses.
  3. Which was me wondering why you would only count half a season on a 2 year deal when I was talking about why Jerry wanted him traded before the season . It made no sense.
  4. Yep Sox told him look, you're not worth $3M if you make the opening day roster but you're worth MLB minimum or $1M and he wasn't in any position to say no. That's still real good money for a guy who probably will never see paychecks that big again unless he is a future MLB manager.
  5. Guessing you're not counting 2025 that a serious injury could also seriously hurt his value for the 2 year length of his contract.
  6. Also on the mlbtv app on your Smart TVs in the white Sox highlights section if you have you app set to the White Sox as you favorite team.
  7. The bulk of the money is the Cease contract. JR never take a risk of him pitching for another 3+ months. Don't u think the other GMs knew that when they made offers? It wasn't just his down year or metrics. When you put it in perspective the return is a lot more logical. I'm 99 % sure it was Jerry's call.
  8. Between not having to pay a possible $4M to Mous and $3M to Pillar and $8M? to Cease that's $13-$15M+ The 2025 Cease salary w/e it was is off the books too. The Sox saved when JR made sure they weren't paid. The Clevinger and other pitcher who signed already for 4.5M were just distraction tweets. JR wouldn't pay them. JRs fingerprints are all over these moves. Follow the money. No way JR wanted to risk losing $18-$20M and more if Cease got injured.
  9. I'm very surprised I didn't see Thorpe in their write-up. If you can't include the Minor League Pitcher of the year from last season as a top pitching prospect then I have to question the Sox rank. He's definitely among those less than 2 years away which was their criteria. And they talked about the Cease trade in the Padres write-up. So unless they did the worse teams 1st before the Cease trade and the Padres after the Cease trade , they have no reason to exclude Thorpe. Sox would have ranked higher than the Mets and tied with 2 other teams if their score was 1 higher. So theoretically they could be been ranked higher.
  10. The pitching from the guys expected to make the 26 has actually been pretty good this spring. Of course it was an open tryout so there were going to be guys who stood out in small sample sizes. We all know that performance with relief pitching can vary greatly from game to game especially with guys who have trouble throwing strikes. However it does suck being reduced to thinking the Sox pitching won't be as bad as I thought because of ST numbers. Leasure seems legitimately talented. Unsure about the rest of them until they can throw strikes consistently.
  11. Yes it makes a lot of sense. If Mouse and Pillar both made the opening day 26 man roster that's $2M guaranteed for Mouse and $3M for Pillar. There was also another $2M Moustakas could've made in performance incentives. Getz and company can talk about culture and defense till they turn blue but the real color of the team is green, the color of money. At least Getz didn't guarantee the money when he signed them. Not sure this is a Getz or Grifol decision. This has JR stench all over it. Defense taking a back seat to the money but they still have Phillips for that and he's a good soldier and knows his role. It'll be Grossman against LHP very soon if not exactly by opening day. Go you Green Sox !
  12. I applaud your optimism on the 1% chance those things come true. While I gave it a solid B , it does worry me when Getz said that the Padres were considering him to be in their rotation. Preller's a used car salesman and Getz is acting like he believed him.
  13. I was going to pick under 61 for the very reason you have. However I picked the one just above which seems to be where the majority is voting, just because I choose to hope that Getz Salvage Yard turns a profit. We buy and sell your junk .
  14. Pedro said the last 5 games of ST is everyone full speed.
  15. They are people on our favorite baseball and we want them to be healthy and not be overworked so they can maximize their chances for successful productivity so they can be traded off this team.
  16. Lots of Train song to choose from on YouTube . But I saw this one that was a minor hit for Albert Hammond in 1974 and it's been forever since I heard it.
  17. 😂 Yes I did! As soon as I hit submit I was like "s%*#"!! He may be ruined but sure would be nice to see him overcome all his injuries and succeed. It just feels like a longshot.
  18. As far as getting the extra time back it wouldn't be an issue. It very rarely is and the Sox have valid reasons to keep him in the minors given his injury and starting pitching lack of innings history. I don't think you having a different opinion from me is a big deal. I just want him healthy and want him to succeed as a starting pitcher . If he can actually stay healthy and attain his goal I want his success to be with the Sox and not another team. Of course that's the selfish fan viewpoint. A future with healthy Crochet starting pitcher is better than the future without him. I know he rather be with the Sox than in the minors , stay healthy , pitch well and get to free agency as fast as possible and cash in . I wish him well but I'm not optimistic that your way or my way will ever work if I go by his past injuries. We'll just have to wait and see.
  19. It's not like he ever was paid well. As far as Sox 1st round draft pics go he was in the top 1/3 as far as making it up to the bigs and having some success. I just never understood why they pitched him so many innings when they could have kept him stronger by making his starts shorter. He was a horse the 1st half but there was no way it was going to last into the playoffs. He gave it his all though. Watching him pitch was the highlight of the year.
  20. The Sox will be lucky to get 80 out of him. He's basically building from ground zero. Rodon came back in 2021 had hardly pitched in the previous 2 years and he wore out and he had a lot more innings under his belt than Crochet. I kept saying he'd wear down at the end of the season but no one cared. The Sox abused the f*** out of his arm in the 1st half. Everyone was all swept up in the pennant chase . Then blam ! .500 record in the 2nd half was the beginning of the end of the rebuild.
  21. I can't figure it out How many guys can they carry working on 5 days rest without screwing the whole bullpen up ? Now I feel like Shaw and his rubber arm makes the team.
  22. Thinking it's not going to be that close to 200 innings between them.
  23. I'm excited for the season . Don't agree with Crochet not being in Charlotte but I know he'd rather be making MLB money just in case his arm explodes again. Every 800K season helps . I hope he invests wisely. If he gets hurt again maybe his arm just wasn't build for pitching. No arm really is when an underhand motion is a way more natural way to throw. How Nolan Ryan did what he did for so long was a freak of nature.
