  1. I already told you. But Ill add that the decision is coming up very soon. Robert likely wont be traded by late Monday afternoon and O'Hearn is more the Sox speed if they also plan to sign another starting pitcher and/ or relief pitcher and OFer. And JR is in sell the team because Im almost 90 yrs. old mode not I can now take on the richest contract in White Sox history mode .
  2. Lack of experience most likely and need more reps. Baldwin has the same problem in the OF. He's very fast but if you check his range its pitiful. He's literally learning how to judge fly balls so his jump must be atrocious. Then when he does get there on time I've seen him take his eyes off the ball and clank a few.
  3. Wre not far apart on our AAV and I forgot about the posting fee. So basically you expect the The Sox to hand out their biggest contract ever that Jerry could be on the hook for most of or even all of it ? To be polite Ill just say I strongly disagree but admire how you view the current status of the franchise although I find it somewhat delusional. 🙂
  4. No way he gets that little. Guessing $100M easy maybe 5 years. Could be bigger.
  5. Give me a prediction on the contract the Sox are going to give him .I need to hear this. White Sox not Red Sox just to be clear.
  6. I trust your process but not your conclusions since JR still owns the team and has shown 0 interest in the team except to lower the payroll significantly since he hired Getz and got the Ishbia's to take over ownership eventually and help pay off debts while JR is planning his estate for the benefit of his children, not for Sox fans. There's also no indication the Ishbia's are putting out any money towards players as of yet.
  7. I said what I said tongue in cheek . I just meant it for the power and K rate. As I said later in the post, I know I cheapening Murakami's by saying what I did by quite a bit.
  8. I think you're making a good case for him except the OBP is just terrible. You e got to be more than a . 295 OBP when your BA is .265 You're right the Sox cant afford to trade his power. And as much as they want to improve defensivelyand get more left handed on the infield they still need power and guys to trade. That might mean giving Sosa and Vargas their AB's and hope the bats and gloves of both show enough progress to be worth more than they are now. All of the young position players need to hit the ground running. Cannot get off to an atrocious April start again. Robert, Teel, Vargas, Sosa, C. Montgomery, Quero, Meidroth, Baldwin need to hit the ground running. Pitchers have to do their part too. It'd be nice to get some quality starts and rack up some saves.
  9. So its a more expensive, proven in Japan version of Tim Elko. Except he's LH and Elko is RH . Elko should go to Japan. He might be a star there. I know I'm cheapening his value considering he was a superstar in Japan while still very young. Ill be interested in following him since we are hearing scouts call him a boom or bust kind of guy. I think its more likely he'll hit a lot of bombs and K a lot and be neither a bust nor a boom. He'll be worth his contract. Im highly skeptical the Sox get him because money as usual even if he signs a fairly reasonable contract. Sox arent doing reasonable if it involves 3+ years over $50M. There's no way JR wants to pay anyone during the strike season.
  10. I think I picked him in whatever that thread was about off season signings dreams over a month ago. Okamoto likely to go for more. Don't they all have the same deadline ?
  11. That's if you trust those numbers . How does one determine if it's a ball outside the zone that, if framed properly, it COULD have been called a strike ? Or is it that balls in the zone are being called balls by bad umpires ? If you set up low & inside and a pitch hits the zone high & away and called a ball is that a knock against the pitcher the catcher or the ump ? I think most people quoting framing stats and using them seem to trust the people doing the video checks to determine these things. Also don't veteran catchers and pitchers get more favorable calls than younger ones ? There's so much going on between pitchers, catchers ,umps and location and the speed & shape of pitches that I'm just not going to blindly put my faith into fairly new defensive stats that seem to always be changing. Are there comprehensive videos on youtube out there that shows us how a rookie catcher gets such a bad rap for framing or any catcher for that matter ? They catch thousands of pitches . Seems like a lot of tedious work looking at how a catcher frames every single pitch and determining what is the catcher's fault as opposed the pitcher or the ump on close calls. When a catcher has to move his glove too far its practically impossible to actually frame a pitch. Youre judt.lunging to actually catch it especially on a fastball. Sinkers and split finger pitches or sliders and other breaking pitches with a lot of movement make a lot of umps and catchers look bad. Also pitching staffs on a rebuilding team or team cycling through a lot of pitchers transitioning from AAA are all getting used to each other. There's a lot dynamics going on based on familiarity between catchers pitchers and umps. Sometimes a catcher will set up low and away , the pitch is thrown perfectly hit the spot and the catcher will barely move his glove and it might be called a ball because the ump is setting ump over the catchers inside shoulder. Do catchers with a bad rep for framing get dinged because reputation becomes a self fulfilling prophesy with statisticians ? Who are the statisticians ? How do I know they are impartial ? Do they do testing where 10 or more of these guys all look at the same videos and grade each pitch and see how they differ? It all seems very subjective. Maybe their methods are flawed.
  12. they probably do since his bWAR is higher isnt it ?
  13. Im not sure but fWAR seems to put a lot of emphasis on framing . I have no idea if framing stats is Fangraphs baby but it's over rated. If hes throwing out base stealers and picking guys off base and blocking balls in the dirt, and calling a good game those all equally important to stealing strike calls for your pitchers on the rarer than you might think occasions the umps are influenced by guys moving their gloves into the strike zone .
  14. Its just speculation based on a lot of things going right. If Carlson is the best fielder who can also hit he's the SS. Colson is chosen for 1st because he fits the physical profile more than Cholowski which leaves Roch at 3rd base. Why would Colson's value be diminished if he can hit the same at 1st as he does at SS but SS has a better fielder and 1st base has possibly the best defense it can also get from anyone on the roster ? Sometimes you forget this is a team game. It's not about building 1 player's value at the expense of the team's value. It's the little things that make the difference in winning and losing . Sure he'd need to learn the rope at 1st but he can field groundballs, go back on pop ups like a SS. He can snag high line drives, stretch far forward and wide because of his height. He can turn a 1st to 2nd to 1st DP and be a strong cutoff man because of his arm. As a tall guy who has already experienced back problems at a young age you also may be increasing his value by doing things that are not as stressful to his back. Availability is a very valuable ability. Baseball talk man. The more your best players are on the field the more valuable your TEAM. Optimize their individual physical traits to maximize team performance. Its a long sesdon and physically demanding with all the twisting and turning that playing SS and swinging a weight (a bat ) while twisting your hips as fast as you can. Maybe Robert couldve been a great player if he had understood along with bulking up he also needed flexibility and core strength. Or on the flip side some bodies cannot handle extra muscle/weight genetically when put in a physically demanding position. Those are things you need a lot more data on about family medical history but unfortunately theres not much info except for 1 or 2 generations back.
  15. Not Getz fans so much as with JR as owner any GM hired who knows the importance of data and coaches who can understand and utilize it doesnt do a much better job. He likely knows hes building a foundation for a future that he's not likely to see as GM. I admire that he has surrounded himself with forward looking people. So I choose to be part of the forward looking group and not let the past cloud my judgment nor my ignorance shape it.
  16. That's how it goes around here now . Good things happen and the Toxtalk response is haha are you crazy the team has lost 100 x straight seasons, in the padt they did/said the same thing . Some of us are moving on from the past. We didnt create it so there's nothing to be embarassed about. I don't know what's going on or what went on when Getz was in his other job. All I know is to look forward and respond to current events and try to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I'm accutely aware of the pitiful history of the franchise and as it's written its always been put on cheap or poor owners . As time marched on no one mentions the 2nd or 3rd or 4th in command because s%*# rolls downhill from the very top.
  17. Pot calling the kettle black otherwise known as Now I Know How Caulfield Must Feel When I do It To Him .
  18. Was not reading the room apparently that you were likely referring to him.
  19. Oh you mean like the thought police who wanted our thoughts to be embarassed because Smith was our best SP ?
  20. I also said Colson at 1st base but that's a everything goes right scenario. 1. Billy Carlson SS He is the great fielder he's reported to be and his bat comes around. 2. Roch Cholowski 3B 3. 2nd base up for grabs between Meidroth, Bonemer and Antonacci 4. Colson Montgomery 1st base. Just what you want there a LHH with power. Tall ,so able to snag more high or wide throws. Doesn't throw LH but fits the bill on everything else. 5 DH :Survivor who becomes the best hitter between Vargas, Sosa, and whoever is not playing 2nd base. Utility guy : Whoever isn't playing 2nd base or DH and isnt traded . Others prospects may also step up.
  21. They want to finish ahead of the Sox in 2026 so taking all the LHHs.
  22. Jerry needs Ishbia to pay off Sox debts . Throw out a number you think it ends up at. I'm willing to say it could happen . I'm just not comfortable thinking JR is going to throw us a tiny bone while he's a lame duck owner planning his estate for his death.
  23. Here we go again with subtle hints/ insinuations/accusations that somehow somewhere in the coaching structure lies the fault of the injuries. Of course no concrete evidence but hey lets troll the hopeful fans again. I'm embarassed some of you still call yourself Sox fans. Again this a jab you wont see anywhere else except perhaps a Cubs forum. Even now with more posters starting to voice more hopeful opinions we still get the awkward machinations of conspiracy theorists hellbent on promoting the despair/inept narrative.
