QUOTE(danman31 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) Yudelmis Hernandez, 1B, G Holmes Braddock SR HS The Florida scouts... LOL! 6'4" 205 *DING*

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 04:22 PM) This is where the area scouts really start pitching their favorites to Duane Shafer and the other Sox draft brass. The area scouts and maybe their direct supervisor are probably the only Sox personnel who've seen these guys once you start getting this far into the draft. Lots of young Junior/Community College picks today. We'll have to see how it plays out, I suppose. I like most of the top 10 round picks save Brooks being picked too early and not getting a catcher despite the opportunity being there.

QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:31 PM) good for you. I didn't still don't see why I am called lazy. Just don't answer.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:20 PM) And I've posted a scouting report for each one right after it was posted that he was picked. Anyone else have an issue here? Sorry, just saw it and I had to go back to be sure who you were talking about, no biggie, but the names to keep track of is growing and a scouting report without the associated name threw me for a brief loop. That's all. Didn't think it was a big deal, but going on 40 pages of draft talk, thought it would be easier to keep things straight, especially as the reports start getting more and more generic.

QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:19 PM) don't answer don't waste your time. I am sure thats good enough for you. I figure your between the age of 18-25, you know the entitled. Next time just ignore it. Not trying to start a mix up. Just ignore it next time. Please do not waste your time with me and my silly questions. 1) Wrong. 2) You have 2600 posts but you're too big a lazy ass to look it up yourself because you're too busy negotiating 5 million dollar software deals over the phone??? put the mirror away, Mr. Vain. 3) Just trying to decide who the next 18 year old to fail is? Wow, Mr Positive Outlook. Glad to see not only do you waste other people's time, but your own as well. Shocking, considering how self-important you are.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) Um...the guy that just had 3 posts saying he was picked? BTW, several other players have been picked, all ya gotta do is put the name at the top, Mr. Quick Draw McGraw! LOL!

Apparently the Sox have taken the "under the radar" approach to the draft, LOL... Some relative unknowns along the way with a Broadway, Getz and Richard thrown in... Cunningham and Cortez (if they can sign him) look like good picks...

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:16 PM) MLB.COM COMMENT: Big frame and broad-shouldered. Long arms and big hands. FB in the low 90s. Slider shows potential w/ hard break. Good athlete. Competes. Solid make-up. You might want to start mentioning who it is those reports are for...

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:15 PM) White Sox select Clayton Richard LHP from Michigan Good pick, IMO. Going to be raw having not pitched for a couple years prior to this season, but was a top prospect before committing to play football. Good arm.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:11 PM) Info on Cortez. He's a 3 sport player. Played basketball and was a tight end in football in high school. Very very good athlete and he's projectable. He was one of the many good recruits Gwynn landed this year (7th best recruiting class according to rivals) and he is expected to get quite a bit of playing time as a freshman. SDSU's pitching coach feels he's projectable. Throws in the low 90's now, but could get into the mid 90's. Don't know much about his secondary stuff. Remember, Sweeney was committed to SDSU also... ;-)

QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) Ya know yea I am lazy, I am actually trying to juggle finding out about which 18 year old is going to fail next while negotiating software deals for 5 million dollars over a conference call. So Ya I am a bit lazy, I am old also, and have limited time. I do try my best though. Wow, Big f***in deal. I guess that means you're more important and have to ask lazy ass questions of others while it would take you 30 seconds to figure it out for your damn self.

QUOTE(quickman @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) I ask again what is whisler doing? Pitching in Winston-Salem, are you that freaking lazy?
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 03:01 PM) Yeah, I noticed that his high school numbers were extremely mediocre this season for someone who was supposed to be such a stud. Looks like Paul Hewitt will actually get Austin Jackson on campus next year Yep. I'm somewhat surprised. Kid could have been a first rounder, but for some reason wants to be a PG. There are 12-15 roster spots per NBA team. A first rounder has 4-5 years to make it in baseball plus the million in signing bonuses and college tuition paid in the future... One thing I know about baseball: If you heart and mind aren't 100% into it, your physical tools mean nothing.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) Freaking guy can rake JC pitching. .465 with 10 HR and 54 RBI. Also 11 SB's, 10 2B's and 4 3B's He's only a freshman. Very young, born in 1986. Pretty good pick at this point IMO. I agree with the guy who said there was disappointment in selecting Brooks, but that has been said about Whisler and Harrell and several others of late by the Sox who have turned out well. I'll wait until I know more, but again, that pick did NOT impress me with some of the other talent still on the board. He could have been had later.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) Austin Jackson has not been picked yet. I guess teams were scared off by his desire to play point guard at GT next season. Looks like that decision is going to cost him a lot of money. That and the fact that he played like an uninterested dog all season.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) Hansen is a top 5 pick if not for his agent.... think of recent stud closers that fly through the minors... huston street, Chad Cordero....... Royce Ring.. lOL! Sorry, but a Billy Bean disciple taking a college closer after the way they chastized KW is pretty damn funny IMO.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:18 PM) I'd like to see the Sox grab him, strictly from a numbers standpoint. 133 K's in 82 IP, and just 16 BB's. He's listed at only 5'11". I WANT BLEICH!
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:10 PM) He's a draft eligible sophmore from what I can tell. Was named National Pitcher of the Week at one point this past season. This kind of smells of Ray Liotta. A guy off everyones radar. Maybe, just doesn't make any sense to me. Lasorda: "The only team in LA selects..." LMFAO!
-
QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) It might sound like a "stretch" to you, but to the Sox it's not, and I have complete faith in our scouting department. They do a great job. IIRC, Jeremy Reed was a "stretch" in round 2 when we drafted him, and he turned out to be very worthy of that selection. It's a stretch when you draft him multiple rounds earlier than you still could have had him. Bleich still on the board and they go with Brooks... crappy use of their limited picks, IMO.
-
QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:04 PM) Ouch, considering we're not even to pick 100... http://www.baseballamerica.com/online/2005..._ncarolina.html Unreal. guy is a college senior and they don't have a 2nd rounder this year and blow their cheese on a kid who would have been there in the 5th freakin round! Dumbasses. Cubs have already come to terms with Pawalek.
-
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 01:02 PM) WHITE SOX SELECT Richard Brooks ACK! WTF? That guy would have been there in 2 rounds in all likelihood...
-
Chris Robinson taken by the Tigers at #90.
-
I like Jeremy Bleich and Matt Green if they are going to go pitcher in the third.
-
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:48 PM) Oh, Teagarden? Damn, so that's why he's falling. That and he's just a Jr. so he could return to school.

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:45 PM) "Jacob Marceaux, RHP (HSer could have gone earlier, compared to Oswalt)" is there two Jacob Marceaux'? I had him going in the 1st round to the Marlins at 29 at a RHP McNeese State. Yep... HE GONE!
