Egbert is on the 40 man roster....probably can get him here from Charlotte or wherever he is before the end of the game.
-
Horacio is in. Confidence is low. I repeat, confidence is low.
-
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 09:36 PM) He'd probably stymie the Sox for 3 innings.
-
Everyone is trying to go deep instead of getting a couple of singles strung together. Typical Sox late inning BS. P.S. They are making Bulger look good. Or Bulger is good. Or some mixture thereof.

I thought Fields was supposed to be able to handle curveballs.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 09:30 PM) It's very important. You can't throw away ANY games this late in the season, but you get the W tonight, you win the series against the best team in the bigs, and can kinda take one on the chin tomorrow a bit easier due to the pen being spent. GET THIS f***ING W. Another reason why punting the suspended game in Baltimore by trying to get 3 innings out of Horacio Gameblower was so atrocious.

Can we get Jeff Abbott to pinch hit lead off in the 14th?

QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 09:28 PM) Thornton-Wood is not my favorite matchup. Worked out OK.

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 09:26 PM) I really don't like Thornton staying in. This is why we shouldn't have wasted Carrasco last night. Thornton-Wood is not my favorite matchup.
-
Wow this is asking a lot of Matt Thornton.
-
Running out of quality bullpen arms here. DJ Carrasco? Adam Russell?
-
Ghost of Thigpen strikes again. And he's not even dead.
-
K-Rod, game over, go get 'em tomorrow.

I guess Ozzie knew something....

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 07:24 PM) f***, terrible time to hang a curve. Although it was a hangar, Rivera was badly fooled and was way out in front - he hit that one off of his front foot. Pretty impressive strength and amazing that it stayed fair.

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 6, 2008 -> 07:09 PM) Who would you suggest in left then? Griffey if he's comfortable. Or have BA in LF if Griffey is not yet comfortable.
-
So if Swish is 4 for 40 vs. Lackey in his career.....why is he in the lineup? Better defense with Anderson in CF and righties hit Lackey better. This is Jerry Manuel level managing here.

Weird move. Bourgeois is just a replacement part, but it is possible that someone like Seattle or Washington would take a flyer on Haeger in the offseason and give some return for him. I mean, Bourgeois is behind Owens and Wise as a pinch runner and behind Getz as a replacement 2B?
-
WOW. I swear every time the Twins need runs the bottom of the order seems to get on in front of Mauer and Morneau, the only two guys who can really hurt you in the lineup. They did it again and for the first time I've ever seen...both failed. Scary, too. Justin Morneau was 6 for 10(!!!) against Rodney with 2 HRs coming into that at bat. WOW. we take that one.

Angels vs White Sox - 7:11PM Start

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 08:56 PM) I thought Danks was starting on Sunday? And BTW, the reason Egbert isn't on the roster is because he's terrible! ESPN.com has Richard starting. Egbert's not terrible. He was slowed by injury earlier in the year and has pitched much better since. -

QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 08:52 PM) darren oliver is also terrible. Actually, he's been a decent reliever over the course of his career, but he's failed multiple times as a starter. -

QUOTE (BlackBetsy @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 08:50 PM) It would be nice to break open a 6-7 run lead and wear out the Angel bullpen for the weekend. Well, at least they got into the bullpen early... -

It would be nice to break open a 6-7 run lead and wear out the Angel bullpen for the weekend. The Sox NEED this game and hope to beat Lackey tomorrow because Saunders/Richard is basically a forfeit on Sunday. I still don't know why you don't put Egbert on the roster. Can't be a service time issue, the guy is 26 or so. -
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Sep 5, 2008 -> 08:35 PM) I said it in the gamethread as well but, if you have Swish who can play average D in all OF spots, and Griffey who is below-average CF and 0 LF experience, it makes sense. Yes. Griffey has played LF for a total of 13 innings in his career, with the last time coming in 2002. It's better that he play CF for a bit while he learns the angles in LF over the course of maybe 3-5 days. Griffey with no experience in LF is worse than he is in CF. Give it a couple of days.

Rockies put Taveras + Fuentes on waivers
BlackBetsy replied to WinningUgly85's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 07:46 PM) Taveras is better than Owens because he can actually play defense. From everything I've seen, he's a much better fundamental player and would make a much better 4th outfielder. He still sucks though, and he wouldn't get past all of the NL teams, let alone getting to the White Sox. Defensively, Brian Anderson > Taveras > Owens. Speed wise, Taveras = Owens. If you need a defensive CF, play Anderson If you need a pinch runner, play Owens when rosters expand.
