  1. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) Brian haunts you with his golden locks and massive power. +4
  2. BA with a slightly better pass at the 3-1 pitch.
  3. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 09:11 PM) When Brian leaves here his long swing will be remedied by the first hitting coach that he meets. So what you are asking is that Greg Walker be fired. OK. I can go along with that.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 09:02 PM) Anderson doesn't squat like he did at ghe beginning of the season. Anderson isn't a major league hitter. His swing is much too long. He'll have to cut it down or be relegated to defensive replacement status. Since the defensive replacement outfielder doesn't really exist anymore, he'll be out of the big leagues next year. I had high hopes for Brian, but he's just not going to make it.
  5. Danks' pitch count is WAYYY up there. 6 innings max at this pace, which is a problem with Thornton and Jenks likely unavailable. That said, Danks looks like the extra days rest added a little zip to his fastball. Let's get an 8-0 lead so we can take him out after 6.
  6. I'll have a bad feeling about this game until the White Sox put it in the W column.
  7. QUOTE (Brian @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 06:31 PM) No balk? Nobody else said anything. I'm dumb. I guess he hadn't started his left foot towards the plate. That was kind of lucky by Verlander to catch himself in time. Cabrera had that base stolen by 10 feet. My guess is that if a pitcher tries to catch himself and throw the runner out, he balks 50% of the time.
  8. QUOTE (SnB @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 05:54 PM) ya know, i had an intern working w/ me last summer from boston. I told him to watch a sox game and listen for a mention of catfish hunter, because it would definitely come up. He came in the next day shaking his head. +3
  9. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 04:16 PM) It is bulls*** to talk about other teams showing up against the Sox and not agaisnt other teams. The Sox seem to shut down a-lot easier against other teams. I didn't say the O's didnt show up against the Sox. But I do agree that the Sox are easier to shut down.
  10. Well, looks like Baltimore is going to show up today. 7-0 O's in the bottom of the 7th. This Liz guy is looking like he did against the Sox, i.e., competent. I thought Guthrie was going to start one of these games instead of Olson. Would have been nice.
  11. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Sep 14, 2008 -> 11:32 AM) Play the radar map in motion. http://www.weather.com/weather/map/interac...pnav_undeclared Based on it's current direction and speed looks like 2-3 more hours of rain and then nothing in site. I hope that field drains well!! (which I believe it does) You could get the 1 p.m. game in at 3 p.m. conceivably. That system is moving a bit faster than I would have expected. Makes the effort of clearing out the stadium for the 7 p.m. game almost impossible. Given that the Sox have to travel tonight, they will need to start as close to 7 p.m. as possible.
  12. 5-1 Twins now in the seventh, Baker cruising. Looks like the Twins will only be 0.5 games out.
  13. 4-1 Twins going to the bottom of the 3rd after some craptastic defense by the Orioles.
  14. Denard Span leads off top of the 3rd with homer. 2-1 Twins.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2008 -> 04:22 PM) I really like DJ, but there is zero chemistry with Hawk. I am sad this is happening, but the Sox TV booth is better for it. I don't know about it. Hawk and Stone both have some pretty big egos. Hawk is also the ultimate company man and is close with Reinsdorf. Stone calls it likes he sees it and is not afraid of challenging players or management. I can see this resulting in a tremendous blow up on camera and in the papers.
  16. Twins / Balm'er 1-1 going to bottom of 2nd. Kubel doubled in a run in the 1st w/ 2 outs and Hernandez singled in a run in the bottom of the inning after the O's had none on and two out.
  17. This is really weird timing for the announcement. Why not wait until the offseason?
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox35 @ Sep 13, 2008 -> 04:06 PM) Farmer needs to pull a Vin Scully and fly solo. It would be monumental radio and I wouldn't even bother flipping the tv on to watch a game ever again. I can't imagine anything worse. Farmer is probably the worst guy on radio in MLB at this point.
  19. The BP projections are based on the Sox's performance over the course of the season, meaning that they include Quentin and Konerko and Linebrink's performance in calculating the rest of the season. In addition, they consider Livan Hernandez's and Mike Lamb's and Adam Everett's performance for the Twins. That's obviously not going to be the case for the rest of the way. The Twins are a lot better now than their average team over the course of 2008 and the Sox are a lot worse than their average team over the course of 2008.
  20. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 09:49 PM) Wow. Thats sad Betsy. Sorry, but I am a member of the reality-based community.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Sep 11, 2008 -> 09:44 PM) And "Carlos Quentin (career injury-prone guy) was our starting RFer for 5 months". So what's your point? Ummm, that the current Sox lineup can't be expected to compete like the Sox lineup of June? And thus the fact that the Sox are in first place is meaningless because it's just a matter of time before the superior Twins lineup overtakes the Sox? Maybe something like that?
  22. Consider this about the White Sox down the stretch. DeWayne Wise (career minor leaguer) is our starting LFer DJ Carrasco (KC Royal cast off) is our principal RH set up man.
