  1. Butler played incredibly well. We did not. That's all there really is to it. Great game by them. Learn from this, watch the film, figure it out, and get back at it. QUOTE (danman31 @ Dec 15, 2012 -> 03:18 PM) This is so laughably Indiana it's not even funny. This team is sickening. They're really not that good, it's plainly obvious. Then just throw s*** up and comeback. I don't even mean this in a negative way, but can you give me an example of a team you've liked? In over 8 years of posting here, I don't recall a team you've complimented.

Anyone else watch Wedding Band? Pretty funny.
  3. I liked that "here, I made a video for you" commercial way better when it was with the hot wife instead of Mrs. Clause.
  4. QUOTE (Jake @ Dec 15, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) It is unbelievable how much protection IU and Zeller in particular gets from the referees This is the first time in my life I've been a fan of a team that gets all the calls. It's a very new and very weird experience.
  5. If Butler wins, which looks quite probable right now, it will most definitely be deserved. They've played well, we have not. Usually free throw shooting is our strength, but it's been brutal today.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 14, 2012 -> 12:15 PM) Even through all the high fructose corn syrup I can still taste the Jenny Past two weeks have been great.
  7. Remember this? http://deadspin.com/5968119/the-st-louis-c...-duke-f***-list (NSFW; not picture wise but probably content wise) EDIT: You need to replace the asterisks in the link with the obvious letters.
  8. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Dec 13, 2012 -> 11:25 AM) Come to think of it, this discussion will end this weekend when Hanner Perea steps on the court. His athleticism puts Oladipo's to shame, it's non human-like. I wouldn't go that far yet. I want to see him use that athleticism against Big Ten competition first.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 13, 2012 -> 12:04 AM) Ah good point. And I didnt mean to misspell Oladipo. Thompson has had some really highlight dunks this year but you just pointed out one of the best. This is the best dunk I've seen in person.
  10. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 12, 2012 -> 11:18 PM) Also, highest flyer in Big Ten? Olidipo or Sam Thompson? I'm obviously biased to say Oladipo, but I still haven't forgotten that one-handed slam on an in-bounds pass Thompson did against Indiana last year. Rodney Williams should probably at least be in the discussion, too.
  11. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 12, 2012 -> 05:15 PM) Matt Roth Spoke up until Crean made it clear he would be a good job reference since he is in sports mgmt. Creaning isnt just a bunch of people getting together wishing something would happen to whats been the doormat of the conference for the last 10 years. IU was oversigned for this year so they got rid of a guy. Patterson developed academic troubles all of a sudden, Story, Bawa. You are oversigned next year and are at limit the year after. I'm betting those numbers will round themselves out somehow. Crean plays the numbers game well, its not an NCAA violation but its a real thing. Why not just own it while you are at the top? Football teams have been using "attrition" for decades, the SEC does it in spades. A&M has 35 recruits signed next year and 10 are enrolling early to offset that number. Hell FWIW OSU has scholly restrictions the next few years so Urban deliberately ran a few players off that he thought were dead weight and a few left on their own. Whatever. We were running with roughly 62 scholarship athletes this year. Not saying you might not have a point in general, but this has all been rehashed too much already for me to want to get into it. I'm just curious what makes you include these names, as we were pretty much begging for players at that point (especially Story, he was part of Crean's haphazardly put together first class. He wasn't even the only one that transferred after that year, Nick Williams went to Ole Miss).
  12. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 09:12 PM) It's an improvement but I think they have to grab a top 100 for this class to be a jump. Fair enough. Bottom line is that I'll gladly take this, especially if it's the start of an upward trend in getting better talent to play football in Bloomington.
  13. I wonder where Mendenhall will end up next year. I remember watching him at Niles West. He just had another gear and high school kids couldn't touch him.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 07:49 PM) I figured when he made the arrangement with Nucky he was going to continue to get paid while Nucky ran it... Yeah, but that was in the second or third to last episode, wasn't it? I think in the finale, there was an allusion made that Mellon would come under scrutiny if he still had any ties to the distillery, so Mellon decided to cut his losses and not be tied to the distillery anymore. Could be wrong, but I think I remember Stephen Root's character talking to Mellon about that.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 07:46 PM) Yeah, I followed all that...I just assumed Mellon would have wanted his ownership of the distillery to continue so he could make money off it under Nucky's direction? Perhaps getting Rothstein was enough for him to forget about that? No, I think Mellon wanted to sever ties with it so he wouldn't be under investigation. I can't remember exactly what was said, but I think that was at least alluded to.

Also, did I miss all the League talk, or was there none? Some great lines last week! "Yeah, guess what he's gonna find when he unclogs it? His f***ing cat." And basically the entire wrestling scene. Rafi has been absolutely golden this year.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 07:35 PM) Wright banging and impregnating all those coeds. Not enough time for basketball! Were those rumors ever substantiated? I mean, if there's that much smoke there's probably fire, but I never saw anything too definite. Never saw anything about him actually being close to resigning, either. But if they're this awful to watch, might as well kick him to the curb.
  18. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 06:08 PM) I have a few more details but unfortunately they are not good ones. She had back surgery last night and though it was a complicated surgery, she had come out of it OK and was in recovery with normal vitals. Sometime during a 40-minute interval between nurses checking in, she stopped breathing and her heart stopped beating. They were able to restart her heart, but she has never regained consciousness, and doctors have confirmed that she has extensive heart damage and no brain activity. They are going to keep her alive for 24 hours per what I guess is standard procedure, but she's more or less gone. I lost my Dad in January at age 66 and now my sister in December at age 35. What an awful year. I know nothing we say can make it hurt less, but hoping you and yours find the strength to get through this.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 07:20 PM) Sitting at #51 class nationally, 10th in conference, 2.86 star average. Hmm. If I had to guess, that's better than usual. There's at least more "star power" than usual.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 11, 2012 -> 07:16 PM) As for Boardwalk...what exactly went on with the distillery in PA? How exactly did we get from Nucky taking it over for Andrew Mellon to Mellon telling Esther Randolph that Nucky told him Arnold Rothstein was illegally running it? Nucky just told Mellon that Rothstein had taken it over? Or this was a plan they hatched all along? There was a scene in the finale where Rothstein thought he was helping Nucky out (remember, Rothstein said, "Take the deal, I'm offering you a way out."). In exchange for getting Masarea to back off, Rothstein acquired a 99% ownership interest in the Old Overholt distillery that you're talking about. It was all part of Nucky's grand plan to get back at everyone who he thought screwed him over. As Masarea's men were leaving, they were all shot by Capone and Chalky's guys. Then, Rothstein gets indicted because he's the owner of the Old Overholt distillery. Nucky paid Stephen Root's character (blanking on the name) to tell Mellon to get the distillery shut down.
  21. Indiana lands Kristopher Smith (3* on Scout, 4* on ESPN), LB out of Georgia. Haven't checked the numbers, but this has to be our best rated class by a landslide (not like that would take much). What's especially exciting is that most of the talent is on the defensive side of the ball, where we obviously need the most help. Hopefully these kids can produce. They'll get a chance to show their stuff right away, as Wilson isn't shy about playing freshmen.
