QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Mar 11, 2014 -> 05:17 AM) Absolutely complaining. Every 2/3 game makes Robin trot him out there to go on another 1/23 streak. Every 2/3 game where he runs into a ball or two makes Dunn apologists like you point fingers at Dunn haters in a condescending manner and also, even worse, gives you hope that he's figuring something out. Let the haters hate. He's paid $15 million dollars on a team representing a blue-collar part of town, bats in the middle of the order and sucks. How can you tell people not to be upset with him during a 1/20 streak? It's ok to say he sucks. He's ours for another year- let the people boo if they want. It's spring training! I have a hard time being negative about any Sox player. As a fan I try and support the team. Negativity gets you nothing. Dunn tries hard and we knew what we were getting when we signed him. At least I think we did. Let's hope we have a good year and Dunn is contributing to our winning season

QUOTE (Jake @ Mar 10, 2014 -> 10:15 PM) People can't act surprised when they see Dunn strike out against left handed pitchers. Even good LH batters tend to be awful against LHP I wonder if the Dunn haters were complaining about his 2 for 3 & 2 RBI game last week? He was going to left and maybe he will do that more this year

watched the game and it was pretty pretty pretty good

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2014 -> 07:22 PM) There could be one caveat in here we're not thinking about. If they're considering moving Viciedo for one of the Mariners' expendibles...that would mean they've reached a point of severe unhappiness with Viciedo, either with something building during last season or something that they're really unhappy with about how he came to camp. Otherwise, the only reason to move him would be the M's overpaying by giving up one of the guys people are saying they won't give up. I believe your point is valid, but Viciedo was hurt last year so are the Sox unhappy with an injured player or thinking he still might perform to expectations?
-
Reading some of the rumor reports and what might be Mariner expendables is not very exciting. You trade to improve your team and not just to move someone IMO. Viciedo and/or De Aza are certainly on the block, but they have somewhat of a decent track record so trading one of them for some failed Mariner's prospect makes no sense at all

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 6, 2014 -> 11:05 PM) Micah Johnson singles, he's 3-5. One on, no out, 6-5 KCR, Herrera on the mound, Jamie Pedroza at the dish He is makin things happen. That's good baseball
-
A Garcia singled to right. I like that and then Abreu grounded into a DP but he saw 9 pitches and that's after three foul balls for a 0-2 count. I think that's ok. Viciedo's double went to right. I hope they are working on the opposite field stuff

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 5, 2014 -> 10:34 PM) Split squad tomorrow. Danks and Beck start. Nice to see Danks in a real game

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 5, 2014 -> 09:09 PM) Scott Merkin @scottmerkin 2m Sale: 2.2 IP, 6 H, 6 ER, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HP, 1 HR, 59/41 It may be early in spring training but the world as we know it came to an end. It's best to trade him before the rest of the league catches on. Of course it might be Gordon Beckham's fault or maybe the fact the Sox still have Konerko

BOTTOM 6 7. Jordan Danks doubles (2) on a line drive to right fielder Jorge Bonifacio. Andy Wilkins scores. Conor Gillaspie to 3rd. 8. Matt Davidson reaches on a throwing error by shortstop Christian Colon. Conor Gillaspie scores. Jordan Danks to 3rd. 9. Hector Gimenez doubles (1) on a fly ball to right fielder Jorge Bonifacio. Jordan Danks scores. Matt Davidson scores. BOTTOM 7 10. Conor Gillaspie doubles (1) on a fly ball to center fielder Gorkys Hernandez. Micah Johnson scores. Trayce Thompson scores. Mike McDade to 3rd. TOP 8--- KC 11. Jorge Bonifacio homers (1) on a fly ball to left field. Gorkys Hernandez scores. RUNS GIVEN UP by our minor league pitchers. Quintana Went three frames giving up 2 runs on 2 hits

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Mar 3, 2014 -> 10:31 PM) I see the Sox are now leading 7-5. How'd they get the last 4 runs? You can see the game progress with MLB Gameday on the internet. Gillaspie just drove in two more runs with a flyball double to CF with bases loaded
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 1, 2014 -> 03:26 PM) Never mind I found one. At least Eaton had a strong game. Davison got a double and Viciedo went 1-2. I watched the game on MLB Network. Good pitching until it wasn't. Offense something like 0-12 with RISP. Oh well it's the first game of spring training

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 27, 2014 -> 04:17 PM) Can you imagine if we had dumped Chris Sale for a major league veteran just because Chris was "an unproven prospect"? There would have been some calling for it
-
Be nice to Dunn everyone. He might surprise us this year

QUOTE (flavum @ Feb 27, 2014 -> 07:08 PM) whitesox.com games tomorrow and Saturday, and Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday next week...and the following Tuesday. And that's it for Melton. Tomorrow's game will also be on MLB Network on a 2-hour delay...possibly with the overrated Vin Scully on the call. (what did he say?) YES! It is on MLB Network tomorrow at 2 PM MST
-
There was a time when folks were drooling all over themselves for Jesus Montero, a Yankee catching prospect. Now they mention some minor league guy and want to dump Gordon Beckham for an unproven prospect. Amazing

Build Your Own Deal with the Mariners

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 22, 2014 -> 09:05 PM) I could be convinced otherwise, but I'm leaning in the "he was never really all that good and convinced people he was thanks to the juice" direction right now. I am with you on this. I hope the Sox stay away from a guy that has been using PEDS and is now out of shape and over weight. Plus once again we have folks that dream up trades and give away the farm -
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Feb 20, 2014 -> 01:31 PM) Yes, they are shocking figures, but it's the price of business. Rarely is payroll mismanagement a reason why a team is not contending. A-Rod's contract with Texas was the true albatross. I think that contract is what started all this craziness. It will be interesting to see how long Cano lasts. Pujols, Hamilton et al have already slumped or been injured

Sox announce Spring broadcast schedule
elrockinMT replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I am hoping we get lots of regular season broadcasts over WGN -
QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Feb 10, 2014 -> 06:15 PM) When did he say that? And was this just his opinion or something? I'm not sure Hahn would be involving Hawk on anything "big" but I could see him saying something like "we're trying to trade Dunn and Keppinger" or "we need to clear up some roster room." Quoted at Soxfest and it was something like Hahn is still working on a couple deals that are exciting
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 10, 2014 -> 06:24 PM) When Hawk was the GM, he basically fired Dombrowski because Dombrowski didn't have a background as a player. I always wondered what he would think about Hahn considered it was rather obvious he was next in line for several years. I do get the impression that he likes and respects him. And he fired Larussa as the manager. But, it seems to me that Hawk had his hand in a good trade for us but I can't remember what it was
-
This is the time you catch yourself wondering what ole Hawkeroo was talking about when he said Hahn had a couple big things brewing
-
If you believe Hahn and his plan for the future then where does Loboton fit in with this team? He said he wants to look at long term fixes and not one or two years. That was the reason for not signing AJP again. I think we may be looking at Phegley and Flowers as the platoon at catcher. Now if we start talking a trade or free agent signing for a starting pitcher that throws right handed then we might actually have something to discuss.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 4, 2014 -> 04:12 PM) From this point forward, for anyone arguing or trying to justify the White Sox adding a starter, rather than arguing a moot point, I will merely reply with: "I disagree with what you say but will defend to the death your right to say it." Didn't John Wayne say that?
