QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 06:45 PM) The D'backs and Rockies are also going hard after pitching. If Seattle signs Fielder they will be looking for another SP between Felix and Pineda. Pitchers available in a trade now - James Shields Matt Garza Ervin Santana Gio Gonzalez Trevor Cahill John Danks Jon Niese Gavin Floyd I don't think anyone signed Edwin Jax yet have they?

I find it interesting that Molina is a converted position player like Santos

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 08:08 AM) I'd call Yu Darvish and tell him he can name his contract. The Yankees or Red Sox will do that don't you think?

QUOTE (ChiSox @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 01:31 AM) So when do the Buehrle jerseys start going on sale? I still need to get one, he's in my top 3 of Sox players I've had the pleasure of seeing play in person, and today doesn't change that at all. Me too -

I am of the opinion also that KW is the person who either pulls the rabbit out of the hat this winter with some real smoking deals or he pays for his failure by losing his job. What do they always say about managers? They are hired to be fired. I gues it's the same with GM's. I have mentioned before that I think we failed to have a long term plan and that's on KW -

QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 01:08 AM) Greg, about 20 minutes ago, Dan Bernstein commented on his radio show here in Chicago (a show that usually has the most critical listeners) that he was shocked at how little the Sox fans cared about Buehrle leaving. He must not be a member of soxtalk I guess -

I will extend my appreciation to Josh PR. He is right. MB is gone let's move on. I know the mods are monitoring the conversation, but I think we are really kind of out of control and certain posters are attacking others personally. Enough with the insults. We are all Sox fans here and obvously we see things differently. That's fair, but let's not attack each other. This is not the first thread where this has occurred. If needed I will file my complaint with the moderators. I am sure we have some sitting back and giggling about the dissension and reaction they are getting, but this is really out of hand and just flat improper. Please let's stop and get back to supporting the team -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 12:39 AM) Let it go. He doesn't understand a single aspect of the business side of sports. Sure thing. Maybe the other side of business is if you put out the resources to field a competitive team they will come and you will suceed and make money? Don't and they won't and you won't. There are always two ways to look at things. An in some cases more -

QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 12:36 AM) maybe this will sell you. owners make money by selling tickets. fans buy tickets. when teams suck, there are no fans. no fans, means no tickets sold. no tickets sold means no money for owners. no money for owners means no opening up wallet to INCREASE payroll. NOT. EVER. GOING. TO. HAPPEN. OK, that's argument. Fair enough. But, let's just hope we don't keep sucking. Agreed? -

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 12:33 AM) Just want to add, according to multiple reports, after Marlins made the insane offer... Mark and agent contacted the Sox one more time to give them a chance to make a contending bid. KW said thanks, can't do it, good luck. Did I miss something on the offer? Insane for what reason? MLB reports was that it was simply a small raise over what he was already getting from the Sox and for four more years. Did we think he was going cheaper? Maybe folks were convinced his skill level was diminshing and so that makes it insane? Apparently a lot of team didn't see it that way. Not criticizing your commenst here just trying to wrap my head around the reason we didn't seem to want to keep MB. -

QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 12:31 AM) WHEN YOU GO ALL IN AND LOSE YOU HAVE NOTHING LEFT. WE HAVE NOTHING LEFT. WE LOST. NO MONEY. CANT SPEND ON PLAYERS WITH NO MONEY. And I won't say we don't have or not have the money. I don't know, but I really think we do and wouldn't have made the commitments we did last year and before in salary if we didn't. I understand your argument it's just that I am not sold on it -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 8, 2011 -> 12:02 AM) And you are now complaining about the overspending the White Sox did. I wish you could understand the irony of what the Marlins are doing Complaining about what? Did we not spend a lot of money and get told we were all IN. Apparently that didn't last long. I can see the Marlins are spending a lot of money. Spending money is what you do to sign quality right? What is the plan here? We thought we might go young in 2010-2011 but instead we were ALL IN. Now we are all OUT or so it seems. The direction the Sox management is going is confusing. I think being ALL IN for just one year is a bit crazy. You should have some kind of a long term plan. Apparently we didn't have one. Why don't we think of that instead of this bashing of Soxtalk fans, who want to see us keep our veteran performers together and compete while building up our farm system or signing free agents that can help us. Spend your money on known quantities. Maybe the team management knows something about Mark Buerhle or Sergio Santos that we don't? Maybe MB's arm is going to fall off? Regardless I am a loyal Sox fan. I will be there supporting the Sox, but I do want to have a competitive team. Maybe Dunn will resurface? Maybe Rios will finally perform to expectation? I want to hear more than "It's just time to move on." Sorry if we have negative people here that think all 25 Sox team members are worthless. We have some folks that just seem to want to criticize and ostracize other posters with their smart ass comments attacking people who don't see it their way. I just don't see myself or others as being that negative when we ask the question of where is this team headed. You can get younger, but that doesn't mean we will get better. -
QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:51 PM) Do you really think that teams aren't interested in Danks and Floyd? You're better than that Marty. Probably just means that other teams are more interested in Lillibridge right now cause he'd require less in return. Sounds lke Boston is interested. Who goes first? Or do both end up leaving before ST? There is a couple three months left where some deal could happen for sure and then during the season.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:53 PM) He didn't pick Ozzie, he picked 4 years, $58M. That's more than the Sox payed him 4 years ago when he was in his prime. The Marlins are throwing around metric f***tons of money, overbidding like mad, Mark took the best offer on the table, I do not expect you to understand this concept. They are all IN. Sound familiar? -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 11:50 PM) This is infuriating. When will KW be fired. Mark picks Oz. What a joke of an organization. And where was Jerry to intervene in this one?? And express Paulie-like love for Mark? Cheapass owner. I agree with the sentiment you are expressing. This has been a very frustrating season and isn't done yet as far as disappointments. Apparently theSox feel Buerhle can't offer them a quality season or four anymore. Or Jerry is broke. If he is broke then he should save money by canning KW. I don't see the Sox addressing the real issues or problems with this team. All you hear and have now seen is dump salary. With MB and Juan Pierre gone and Vizquel and Castro and also Santos we have cut around $20M plus and keep high paid non-performers. It will take awhile to accept the direction the team is headed and hopefully by ST we can get positive again -

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 06:25 PM) Wicked slider. Results never quite matched his stuff. Interesting comment. I think 30 saves is a good result and maybe we would have seen more in 2012 and beyond as Sergio gained experience? We helped develop a good young talent and traded him for a possible big league talent ? I don't know what to make of the move but I certainly don't think it was enough of a return. It sure seems KW has a thing for Toronto now. Arizona before that and the Yankees too and I think that he got fleeced by those guys. But, good luck Sergio.

QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 05:55 PM) There is a note in today's Denver Post that the Rockies are interested in Gordon Beckham. Second base is a position where they think they need an upgrade. If Kenny listens, the Rockettes have several verry good prospects. We have a good talent in Beckham. If we start trading all our own young talent for someone elses so called talent (youinger even) maybe we can compete at the AA or AAA level for a few years?
-
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 01:40 AM) Since the Sox are in the rebuilding process. Does anyone think that KW will sign any of these players, since they're young and could help us for many years? Cause if we do trade Danks, Floyd, Q, Alexei and Thornton, we will have money to spend. With our 2 new scouts, I believe we will be signing a lot more international stars. My guess is we don't simply because someone like Darvish will probably cost a lot and this team doesn't spend much on young talent. They prefer to give it away

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Dec 7, 2011 -> 12:12 AM) As long as it doesn't take away Viciedo's playing time, then im all for it. If it means less playing time for Rios, then I am all for it. I sure hope that there Cuban missle isn't a dud when playing full-time. Rios gone wouldn't hurt my feelings any
