  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 08:14 PM) Scioscia just shoved it up Ozzie's ass with those pitching changes. Is Frankie Rodriguez their closer?
  2. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) I can get all games on mlb.com today except the sox; wtf Anything to mess with us is my guess
  3. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) Down 4-0 anyway burn him up today. 7 innings and 100 pitches is not "burning him up" IMO
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 08:54 PM) Technically there was no "GI" there. It's my story (gameday you know)
  5. One thing I love about Buerhle is how focused he remains even when giving up a lot of hits. In the 7th he comes back against a good hitter and induces the GIDP
  6. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 08:46 PM) I'm almost happy that i haven't been able to watch any of these games. It really seems like i'm not missing much. Kind of my feeling too
  7. Slumps happen. Maybe it's good it is this early adn not late September. I believe the team will comea round. It will be nice when Dunn starts hitting the big dingers and then the K's will be easier to swallow. The pitchers are struggling some also and when MB gives up 9 hits through 6 innings that isn't conducive to a shutout, which they have to throw for us to have a chance to win right now. Too early to panic and start calling for heads to roll
  8. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 17, 2011 -> 12:04 PM) Caulfield makes a very legit point, and there are reasons that broadcasters and media types like Hawk last forever with teams. But every once in a while, you may gain more fans with a well chosen idiot comment. I didn't here this and can't tell if it is well chosen, but from the sounds of things, it just may have been. Regarding the "caller is a customer" point from earlier I don't think the customer is always right so I agree sometimes they need to be told the truth.
  9. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 05:26 PM) The point of the thread is the Sox BEAT themselves 5 of the 6 losses. Is that not the same point I made? You win or lose as a team and you might have one player who stands out good or bad, but the others on the team are also involved.
  10. I think we can still win this thing considering we have 148 more game to go
  11. Suffering with Twinkies and Rays game on Fox here
  12. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 09:51 PM) Wait, didn't we DFA Milledge or did I miss something? Playing time at the minor league level. Yes, Lastings was DFA'd, but I honestly kind of liked that Gartrell. He seemed to be a possible 4th or 5th OF'er for this team. Maybe he will get a chance in Atlanta
  13. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) I'll be there with my kids. I was at the Mariners opener which they lost 12-3 to the Indians. That was a stinker. I'll be there for all the Sox games in May and August. I might try and make it over there in August to. Glad you have the chance to see them.
  14. We got beat six times as a team. We won seven times as a team. My point as always is you win or lose as a team
  15. QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 16, 2011 -> 02:26 AM) He's played over 1400 in his career and has never been on a team that won more than 80 games. Adam Dunn not playing on a winner before is not Adam Dunn's fault. Yes, he k's a lot, but he can hit the homer, get the walk, drive in runs and can hit for average. If you wish to use k's as the tipping point I would remind you that Jim Thome k's a lot too. But, Big Jim was a great DH to have on a team. We have only played 13 games and Dunn was out for what 5-6-7 of those? He will be a force for this team.
  16. Things will most likely get turned around here pretty soon
  17. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 03:41 PM) I love Seattle. Seattle is a neat place. I enjoy visiting
  18. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 02:21 PM) I'm jealous. Seattle is one of my favorite cities. I 2nd the suggestion for staying at the Ace Hotel. Also, my favorite restaurant there is Sutra. Very unique dining experience that is well worth it. I will check that out
  19. QUOTE (Bighurt52235 @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 05:26 AM) I shall be at all three as well. I'm an Olympia resident, work 7 miles from Safeco Field. Pretty excited about it. : ) I have relatives liivng in the Salem area and Portland. Ex-Sox player Pete Ward used to be in Portland did you know that?
  20. QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 06:50 AM) I'll be there as well....heading over from Kennewick for the series. Any suggestions on where to stay? Anyone want to meet for beers before the Saturday game? I'm packing my broom and hope to have use for it on Sunday! I think you can get some pretty reasonable rates for hotels near Sea-Tac. However, there is a place called the Silver Cloud Hotel right across the street from SAFECO. Pretty new, but might run at least $150 a night is my guess.
  21. When I was there in 2005 one of the urchin SAFECO ushers, who appeared to be as old as Babe Ruth, threatened to put me on a freight train rumbling by the park after seeing my Sox hat I was so proudly wearing. And then another old fellow told me how his folks lived next to Nellie Fox back in Chitown.
