QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 20, 2010 -> 09:12 PM) They shouldn't, I actually agree with Cowley. Baseball should be played by Americans in a sandlot

Eric Gagne which is why he just retired a day or so ago?

I think Kenny is either hiding or flying under his radar

It isn't as bad as the start to 1968 when I think we were 0-10 or 11 before getting a win. I remember the Sporting News Headline was "Sox find life is a bowl of cherries-all of em sour"

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 05:05 PM) If this is what we're facing in several months...then that means a severe sophomore slump for Beckham with a sub-.700 OPS, that means Quentin is essentially finished (he's sporting a .727 OPS), that means AJ and Pierre are finished, and that means Alexei's early season slump lasted for more than a short burst. Oh, and Alex Rios is the unluckiest guy I've ever seen (105 OPS+ and Babip of .289). And that Jake Peavy and Freddy Garcia are finished and Gavin Floyd has fallen apart completely. Let's hope thnat we don't see that disaster I take it you are not seeing us in last place in June?

QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 06:28 AM) True Jordan, but if we seem to be at least one big bat short. You and Jordan are both right in my opinion. Once again I feel strongly both ways about the argument

QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 08:31 PM) We are a s***ty, last place team, with a s***ty, last place offense. We lost a lot of production when we let Thome and Dye walk (still the right calls), but did NOTHING to replace it. I am beyond pissed and disappointed with the White Sox right now. All of that said, talk of waving the White Flag in April is ridiculous. They aren't saying anything about a white flag in April. The point that was made is "red flag" and if this is what we are facing in 2 more months then trades mighnt be possible and they specifically mentioned a-gon

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) I was really high on at least KW trying to pry Agon loose from the Pads for a package centered on Hudson/Flowers and Morel. But I don´t know anymore. If Freddie fails then we need the insurance that Hudson can possibly provide. I think another poster suggested looking at Berkman which may be a cheaper option. Let´s hope the Sox turn it around and play better ball from now until the trade deadline. Building from within - meaning using our minor league stars- seesm to be the way to go in my opinion. The Sox made some moves in this off season and got older not younger.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 06:40 PM) Agreed. Cora appears to be a very similiar manager to Ozzie. I think that is why he is Ozzie's right hand man which means they think alike and thus woud manage alike -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 06:31 PM) Joe Morgan would be worse then Ozzie as a manager. Far, far worse. For all of Ozzie's lunacies, those are some of Joe Morgan's direct impulses. He knows the game that's all I can say. Everyone that might be considered haa an upside and a downside. My first pick would be Fisk though -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 06:27 PM) You're joking, right? I'd prefer to keep KW. If we don't. Interview Paul Depodesta, David Forst, Rick Hahn, Kim Nga, and Logan White. For manager i'd like a guy like Davey Johnson. I am talking manager, but at the same time I am not suggesting that Ozzie be fired. It's just too early for that kind of talk. However, this start is very disappointing -
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 06:26 PM) Actually, now that i think about it. Didn't Lyndon B. Johnson once say, "If I've lost Baseball Tonight, I've lost Middle America?." Close but no cigar or wad of chewing tobacco

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 06:25 PM) Would we really offer the GM job to Stone? Something needs to be done, but I would prefer to keep Williams over Guillen. Seriously, I would rather see DJ, Ventura, McDowell, Fisk or even Lance Johnson managing this team over Guillen at this point. I'd actually rather have Walker as the manager, too. Or Cooper. Just not Cora. Fisk or maybe a Joe Morgan would be good -

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) Peavy would have to be near Cy Young caliber to earn his contract. That was always a longshot for him in the AL. And Buddy Bell won't be able to do much with our minor leagues if we don't spend money and keep trading away prospects. No I think Peavey can be abig winer in the AL. It is much tougher for a pitcher to suceed in the AL than in the NL, but Peavey is a quality top notch hurler. I am more worried about the offense. I agree with the rest of your comment though -
Baseball Tonight sayd the red flag should be waved for the White Sox, Red Sox, Diamond Backs, and Cubs. Goes on to say "give the Chisox two months and if their offense remains this bad maybe a trade for A Gonzalez is a possible move."

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Apr 18, 2010 -> 08:08 AM) The game threads seem to be in a need of some fresh air. Let's see if I can bring any luck. My man G on the mound will take care of business, and the offense owes Carmona some good ole ass beating. Let's hope it works Mr Fabreze
