QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 30, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) This is from the upcoming ESPN Magazine, they did 100 computer simulations and the Twins finished 1st more often, but somehow the Indians were next in line, as well as the only team to snag a wild card berth in one simulation. They also dont think much of the division, as the Twins are the only team to average a +.500 finish, at barely 82 wins. http://insider.espn.go.com/mlb/insider/news/story?id=5028413 The only computer simulations that I trust are what goes into Strat-o-Matic baseball

It's great to know we have major league talent at Charlotte and Birmingham ready to step in if needed. My guess is we will have an opening or three in 2011 to fill with youth. Maybe santos becomes a rookie of the year candidate in 2010?

It's always nice when folks say positive things about us

Opening Day! It just seems to get closer with every passing day

QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 24, 2010 -> 06:38 AM) Pride or I suppose stubbornness though I suppose the two go hand in hand. He's been banking on his past production landing him a starting RF/1B gig with an acceptable club but what he fails to comprehend is that when you're 36, coming off a bad year and incapable of doing the things in the field that once came easily to you the teams won't exactly be lining up with $10M deals in hand pleading for the honor of granting you a starting job. He could easily have signed by now, there have been more than a few suitors but he's having trouble coming to grips with his own fading ability and his pride is getting in the way of him accepting a diminished role. All that being said, and I think it probably applies to others in the game also, JD is still a productive player. Should he have looked at a IB/RF/DH type role maybe, but he still has the talent to compete. I think we just see baseball for what it is and that's a business plain and simple

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 23, 2010 -> 11:12 PM) I'd bet he started even before that. Babe Ruth had the best idea. Be drunk all the time. Wonder what the guy could have done sober

Jenks has MRI on Right Calf, no structural damage
elrockinMT replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The concern is over a leg calf and he says he will be ready for opening day. But, the injury has bothered him since Sept and now he will be ready to go in two weeks? I am not sure I am following this logic. Lower velocity has been a concern with folks for a year or two now, but he still manages to do the job even though at times it seems Billy Koch is on the mound -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 09:47 PM) His old one hasn't worked that great for him either, since 2006. His talent level, he ought to be a heck of a lot better of a hitter than what he has been. I would have thought so too. Is he just struggling trying to find a comfortable groove or what? I hope this issue is just a ST one

QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 06:24 AM) Screw you! Those long galloping strides out there made up for tons of ground on balls he didn't track off the bat right away! He was the type of player you knew would always be willing to sacrifice his body at the fence if only he could beat the ball there. On top of all of that, the man was what...6 foot 4? Massive height advantage that most right fielders don't have. He was and always will be the greatest defensive right fielder in Sox history! I agree. Plus Greedy has no business making insulting comments to people on this board. He has ewvery right to express his opinion and have his side heard as we all do, but being nasty isn't right

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 07:36 PM) Has anyone even signed Crede yet? No, tht's why I think we have a good chance
-
QUOTE (CubsSuck1 @ Mar 18, 2010 -> 03:14 PM) his other possible replacement; Jermaine Dye. I like JD also
-
I'd still bring back Dye to the Sox. Maybe even Crede to back up Teahan if he fails

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Mar 18, 2010 -> 06:39 PM) He hit like .300 last year and only knocked in 49 in 504 ABs. That's what I think of it. He's a contact man and can get on base
-
QUOTE (Stocking @ Mar 18, 2010 -> 12:48 AM) his possible replacement; Willie Harris. I always liked Willie Harris

QUOTE (The Baconator @ Mar 18, 2010 -> 12:26 AM) I saw this on my ESPN text update this morning, literally laughed out loud wondering when how long it would take for this to hit the board. There was a time that I would've taken a fly on him, but we've already got enough "ifs" on this team, we don't need that cancer. Why didn't you put it on the board?

Read the story on MLB.Com that the Nationals released Elijah Dukes. Physical problems and non-production this spring. Nationals indicated they tried to trade Dukes before releasing him and they failed, but felt he was not suited for a minor league assignemtn and was a big league caliber ball player. I gathered he may have been a clubhouse distraction. A poll by MLB asked voters to pick one of four teams Dukes may end up on and one was the Wite Sox. My question is why the Sox? Have we ever showed an interest in Dukes?

QUOTE (soreal35 @ Mar 15, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) never heard it before...not bad You know what I liked the best when checking this YouTube song out was all the tributes to Joe Crede that showed up as links/videos to watch

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) There was that 1/2 in 2006 we all saw where he was just freaking scary, and then that version of him went away. I've said it before, a lot of this season's quality depends on how good of a job Greg Walker does. At least Rios is working so far, even though it's spring. Agreed

Checked Milwaukke-Sox box and it looks like Floyd did alright. 4 innings with 5 K's. Allowed 2 hits one for a homer
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) Well, hopefully he picks his game up this year and we don't have to. But like I said, if Rios hits like an all star, Quentin stays healthy and gives me the 50 that I'm thinking he has in him this year, and there aren't any other huge injuries amongst our starters...that's liveable. Basically, you're getting an extra 100 points in OPS compared with what Getz gave us on the IF last year. Healthy is what matytersI think the most. And I agree that Terahan has talent. Maybe this is when we see the break out year? Not to say he was all bad by any means while in KC. Actually not all that bad
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 10:35 PM) Out of qualifying 3b last year in the big leagues, his OPS was 13/19. Ahead of guys like Kouzmanoff, Inge, Peralta, Feliz. It'd be really nice if we could get a little bit better out of him this year, but if nothing else goes wrong, we can live with that. Problem is we have to live with that now

Jared Mitchell is playing like a #1 prospect
elrockinMT replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 07:54 AM) I guess if it came down to trading either JDanks2 or Mitchell I would say JDanks2 would be the one to go in a trade for Agon. Mtchell´s upside is a ton better than Danks. I would be keeping both prospects and building from within instead of trading everyone we develop for someone elses talent, but that's just me -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Mar 9, 2010 -> 01:06 AM) You dont get the chance to make this mistake twice with Ozzie and Kenny Paid too much to loaf

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Mar 6, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) Uh oh. Perfect bunt by Lillibridge. I think he just made the team. Not with one bunt single he didn't

3/4 GAME THREAD: Spring Training Game ONE
elrockinMT replied to NorthSideSox72's topic in 2010 Season in Review
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 4, 2010 -> 06:28 PM) The whole lineup screams of "guys we want to get a good look at early". First game of ST and we have some regulars not in the line up. It must mean they are on the trade block
