QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 09:06 PM) Can we get a "Time to move JD down in the order" thread? Just a rough spot/time and he will come around soon. Take the good with the bad or vice versa

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 09:23 PM) Can he hit five run homer? Silly question I know
-
Way to many walks allowed by our guys

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 09:12 PM) Danks needed a better effort than that. Dotel needs to step up Just got back and able to check in on the game. Chsiox.com says that "Danks battled into the 7th", and I am wondering how much of a battle is giving up 7 run and three homers? There is no doubt that Danks needs to figure out what's been going wrong and sharpen his performance. Plus I am tired of automatic outs in our line up and they continue to play just to give someone a rest. If we really needed to strtengthen this team let's start with a couple of the reserve roles.

QUOTE (rockren @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 06:52 PM) What is up with Castro calling for an opening change-up for two straight ABs to Vlad? Stupid. I remember a game we played versus the old EXpos in IL play and Vlad batted against Foulke in the 9th in a tie game. Foulke led off with a change up and Vlad hit it to the moon for the win

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 06:46 PM) is castro really that much better than corky? If he is he hasn't shown it. I was really wondering in that game where he made two throwing errors on steal attempts and looked bad at the plate too

What can't Danks get anyone out? He is pulling a Jose here in this game

QUOTE (The Baconator @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 05:25 AM) You know what, I don't want to sound like an attention whore but I never got a "welcome to..." response on my first posts. I was looking forward to it after the long wait to finally break the seal of posting a response and then I got no love. Sincerely, Drunk and Jealous You were and are in our thoughts though

QUOTE (tonyho7476 @ Aug 6, 2009 -> 04:18 AM) Absolutely awesome. And tomorrow they throw Santana and his 7.00 ERA at us...I smell sweep. The pessimist in me looks at that as Cy Young territory versus us. The optimist looks at Danks throwing a no-hitter. I feel strongly both ways about our chances in this game
-
Let's see Whisler get a shot at it
-
If Danks can bring his A game we will sweep. Hope it doesn't come down to our offense expcted to fight back from an early deficit again

QUOTE (beautox @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 02:52 AM) I wouldn't mind going after these guys, but lets keep our eyes on the prize(s) see sig below Do you think we have a chance to get him?

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 07:23 PM) ...check out Jeff Francouer's rookie stats and remember how people were so ga-ga over him too... .300/.336/.549/.885 70 GP, 272 AB, 14 HR, 20 2B, 1 3B, 45 RBI, 11BB it would seem like the lack of walks and reliance on homers made this predictable, but Francoeur was hitting .300 over 70 games with a ton of doubles...doesn't that sound familiar? His career line is currently a disappointing .266/.308/.424/.732 and the power numbers have been relatively down since 06 - just 82 career homers. So what happened to Jeff Francouer? Couldn't the same thing happen to Beckham? No, Beckham >than Francouer

Gregor Speculation: Sox should offer Dye extension

QUOTE (sweatpants @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 05:21 PM) Out of curiosity how many guys are there that are strictly DH's? Hafner? Ortiz is pretty close, but he has played a few games at 1b. I've never been a big fan of the dh-only player. I've always like the flexibility of rotating 2-3 guys in the dh spot. The position of DH for AL teams is meant for the premier hitter who can't play the field. Thome can still swing the bat very very well. Now does that mean the Sox cut ties with him at the end of the year? Maybe or at least renegotiate for a salary more in line with todays economy -
Gregor Speculation: Sox should offer Dye extension
elrockinMT replied to DaveBrown85's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Commenting on the Dye detractors comments about his fielding just makes me wonder if we are in fact watching the same fielder? I see a guy throwing people out on the bases, running into the walls and making diving catches and always giving 100% on the field and then you have someone saying that Johnnie Damon has a better arm? Wow! The baseball commentators remark on his great arm and fielding and the fact he is moving better this year becasue he is healthy and yet we have post saying Dye is below average -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) Stolen from other thread Thanks for that info. If I am correct I believe the Saturday game is on WGN. It will be interesting to see who starts. I wouldn't mind seeing that Whisler kid but it could be Jose since he only went 2 innings on Tuesday
-
QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 03:54 PM) Has Contreras lost it again? He's given up 14 runs and walked 15 batters in his last 19 innings (4 starts). Perhaps he needs to be DL'ed or optioned again and worked on by Cooper's pitching guys. That;'s a question I had about Jose --- is he hurt again? But, it may be just a rough stretch for him and remember how fragile his psyche is when he struggles. He seems to lose confidence quickly. I would like to see some comment from him or Cooper about last nights performance.

Go get 'em Gavin with that great hook of yours.

Gregor Speculation: Sox should offer Dye extension
elrockinMT replied to DaveBrown85's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (DaveBrown85 @ Aug 4, 2009 -> 03:27 AM) "Scot Gregor of the Daily Herald says in his blog that the White Sox could sign veteran outfielder Jermaine Dye to a two-year extension and likely will cut ties with Jim Thome at the end of the season. Gregor notes that Dye remains a productive player and enjoys playing in Chicago." To tell you the truth wouldn't mind this at all. As long as dye DH and they get a new RF Jermaine Dye should be signed and play in RF the next two or three yeasr. I wouldn't have heartburn over Jim Thome at DH either. You don't break up a comeptitive ball club or unnecessarily move position players around especially into a DH role when you have no alternatives. Now if we sign the Big Hurt to come back and DH then maybe -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 11:39 AM) Wait, who is this Beckham guy? I thought he was a soccer player? And the legend continues to grow until it's biger than life itself
-
The way Jose is pitching you might as well just hand the game to the Angels on a silver platter
-
QUOTE (Capn12 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 12:57 AM) Seriesly. and getting towards 60 I checked the box and you were right. Jose is so inconsistent it's a crap shoot everytimng he goes out there. The wild pitches are a given too
-
QUOTE (Capn12 @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 01:54 AM) 51 pitches in 2.1 IP...I mean seriesly... 51 pitches already? You can't be serious

QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 5, 2009 -> 12:28 AM) Longoria vs Beckham? Who wins Ditka or Beckham?
