QUOTE (Kalapse @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 10:38 PM) So Lillibridge had a pretty big day huh? Not only did he add to his league leading strikeout total (now sitting pretty at 23) but he moved into 2nd place in errors with his 5th, only 2 behind San Diego infielder Everth Cabrera. He should be in Charlotte in APril. Do you think his staying on the roster, if he does, has more to do with needing back up infielders than anything? Who else is there except Betemit?

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Mar 27, 2009 -> 08:25 PM) Hate to say it but that extra base hit couldve been had by another 3b He was playing the line too The management is trying hard to put the best defensive spin on Josh Fields. I ain't buying it

Interesting week ahead with the roster. I liked what I saw from Colon yesterday

Rosenthal: Melky Cabrera is on the block; Sox would be good fit

QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 11:02 PM) I'd go with Brian Anderson. OK. You beat me too it. I like BA also and I said neithr Melky or Gary interest me only becasue I think we should give our own the chance first. Melky though would be a beter choice than Matthews, who I tjhink flubed big time after being signed to lots of money by LAA. -
Two nice opposite field round trippers by the Sox lefty hitters Betemit and Thome
-
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) And he's 33 They seem to like him this year though. Best thing going for him probably is that he is a lefty

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 09:34 PM) Jose's stuff looks good, but his command isn't there yet. Though that is not surprising considering he didn't throw for 8 months. Velocity is good according to announcers. A couple of hits allowed by Jose were wind carried and he also had a bad fielding play behind him by Alexei (error)

QUOTE (kane0730 @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 09:04 PM) What's the 411 on this Williams pitcher? Any chance he'll end up in Chicago in the future? He is on the list to make the roster if Bart can't satrt the season. He would join Thornton as the lefty in the pen

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) Stepped away for a minute. Did Bart go 4? Taking him out now which means he must have been on a pitch count
-
QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 08:58 PM) Stepped away for a minute. Did Bart go 4? Yes and an excellent four innings too. Bart is now in for the 5th inning. Gets the first out on a grounder to 3B

QUOTE (beautox @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 08:54 PM) sox on the board 2-0 back to back sac flys And they were both well hit too, which is nice

QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 08:49 PM) I'm just so tired of watching guys do that kind of thing. Sometimes they look like they didn't watch or play the game growing up - which I guess is probably true for some of them... but damn running into the SS on a groundball? That's my old man rant for the day. I agree. In fact we just saw another bad decision by Ramirez and he got lucky. Two lucky running plays in a row ain't going to happen often during the regular season
-
QUOTE (wsgdf_2 @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 08:38 PM) Our players are so damn stupid. They must have skipped college
-
TRADE QUENTIN. He is on the downside of his career obviously. K'd with runner at 3rd base
-
Josh Fields just showed he can't read the ball and believes in bad base running
-
Colon was at 91 MPH

QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 06:51 PM) Jordan Danks will be in the minors for a minimum of two years. I guarantee that. Kroeger will be one of the last cuts, and I think Owens will get the boot too. Who becomes Konerko's back up? Betmit? I am not sure Kroeger plays IB, but maybe he should learn it

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 05:56 PM) I don't mean to rub it in everybody's faces...well, I don't think he'll be here longer than the first half. I'd be shocked if he doesn't hit his way out of B'ham. AAA by June probably! Majors this year? Doubtful

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 25, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) Colon was throwing 95 last season after building up arm strength. Between his back and then the bone chip clean up in the offseason, he needs to build that up again. I think if he can remain healthy, he'll be at 95 again in a month or 2. He's really just started airing it out. I think he can do it too. But, we may have to wait till late April or early May to see it.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 10:09 PM) MacDougal having a solid spring, which scares me, because he might win the job (especially being out of options and being paid big money). I'm 90% sure he'll just be the same guy he's been every year but 2006 - lack of control, loads of tools, poor execution and can't handle pressure scenarios. Why bother putting him in there, only to replace him in May with Carrasco or Wassermann anyway? I was going to ask this question myself. It seems everytime he pitches it's at least a scoreless inning and 2 K's. Can a guy finally put it together? -
QUOTE (Wanne @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 07:04 PM) That was exactly my point that I didn't iterate very well. I'm pretty happy with BA's maturity as player now. I'd just like to see him get some constant ABs. I honestly don't even think Owens just even be a remote consideration for this roster at this point. I like BA also. He can and will contribute.

QUOTE (jphat007 @ Mar 24, 2009 -> 05:47 PM) Swisher sucks - hehe Maybe so and it looks like he is losing out to Nady to start in the OF for the Yankmees. Bring him back and give him another shot at it in Chitown. He would probbaly come cheap. (like for Chris Stewart maybe?)

Buehrle could open season as 4th starter
elrockinMT replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
ST is there to work on location, pitches and control and not win every game although the players and we would like to see a lot of wins. I think Mark B is working on location and he just isn't as sharp as he would like. No worries at the point. -
QUOTE (MEANS @ Mar 22, 2009 -> 04:58 PM) Colon on the DL???? What happened did I miss something? I am not sure it was the DL, but I did hear that possibly he might need more time to build up arm strength. I think it was just discussion and there are still thoughts being entertained that he will be reay by opening day. However, early in the season the 5th starter is not as needed as later.
