The answer to all our problems?
I am kind of thinking that the best thing Alexei could do right now is start hitting- for us and him

Sox @ Rays, 6:08, WGN
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 02:24 AM) Last night's loss stings even more now. Anyway, can't get too upset at all with taking two of the first 3 against arguably the best team in the AL in their park. Gavin better bring it tomorrow. He owes us one after that awful performance against the Tigers last time out. We should have won last night

QUOTE (lostfan @ Apr 19, 2009 -> 01:48 AM) Betemit manages to not completely embarrass himself tonight. Good hit finally but his fielding is pretty bad too

Chicago (5-4) at Tampa Bay (4-6); April 17, 6:38 CDT
Blown games by the bullpen have been a reoccuring theme of the Sox. Last year wa salso a bullpen fiasco

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!
We won, but there are always cocnerns when your bullpen struggles especially your ace reliever. He has good games followed by mediocre. We need a consistent effort

I hope Ramirez becomes a more selective and patient hitter again soon

White Sox Acquire Andy Phillips
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 08:54 PM) Is he going to play on the major league roster? I'm a bit confused. Who will he replace? I assume this is more of a depth move and he might eventually slide onto the big league roster as a utility guy. I assume they'll replace Owens with him (unless Pods sticks) and than use Lillibridge as the primary backup in CF. AAA. But, it is interesting to read that Phillips may have made the Bucs opening roster if not for an injury. I am assuming he is just insurance in case of an injury to one of the If'ers on our roster now

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2009 -> 08:21 PM) This would be a bonus win. The Sox really shouldn't win this game. Bart has his work cut out for him. If he's throwing 88 again, I don't think he'll last long. Hopefully he'll add a few MPHs to his fastball tonight. I really think Bartolo and Contreras will be inconsistent for a while. No one will really know what to expect until they take the mound. I don't think speed has anything to do with it. He had command and movement on his pitches last game and if he continues to do that he can win. It will certainly be a good test to see how he does in a second game. Do well Bart-Do well!

Sox sign Podsednik to MLC
QUOTE (WinningUgly85 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 08:08 PM) Hey what are the chances if Thome gets hurt that KW will sign the Big Hurt? Don't tease me like that

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 11:20 PM) but of course, he'll be ripped at least once this game for his lack of defensive skills in RF Who are you talking about? Did I miss some reported action

Are We Looking to Trade for a CF'er?
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 08:42 PM) You simply can't say that yet. Bringing up Beckham now and leading off with him has a 90% chance of him stunting his development and flopping at the job. He's had less than a month of professional baseball experience - this is a bad idea. Bringing him up would be a panic move. We aren't anywhere close. Give the kid a chance to develop

Are We Looking to Trade for a CF'er?
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 05:08 PM) Maybe we can get Zito too Let's not go crazy here. I wouldn't mind seeing Rowand back-don't think it is going to happen mind you- but BZ is not on my list for sure. I want to give Brian the chance and isn't he the reason we traded Aaron in the first place? Things do come around though don't they

White Sox (4-4) @ Tampa Bay Rays (4-5), April 16, 6:08 CDT
QUOTE (CryptviLL @ Apr 16, 2009 -> 02:43 PM) Figured I'd make the game thread, since I'll be at the game . going today, tomorrow, and Sunday, my anual live white sox baseball down here in Tampa, tho this time there should be alot more fans then normal (coming off world series) . Go sox Let us know your thoughts and observations. Is Tampa considering a replacement for that stadium do you know? I would wonder since Miami is building a new one to keep the Marlins.

Are We Looking to Trade for a CF'er?
Apparently the rumor mill is burning hot with info that the Sox may be searching for a CF'er to trade for and that Aaron Rowand may be a target for KW. If the Giants are seruious contenders in the NL West would they actually consider this deal? Would the Sox take on a big contract? Interesting speculation anyway. Discuss amongst yourselves.

BOOO!!! We don't get to see Porcello tmrw, Galarraga w
I think we should have sked for Porcello today. Gallaraga and his 85 MPH slider made the Sox look real bad

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 07:30 PM) For about 3 months in Tucson a few years back, BA had a really nice swing IMO. He had gap power, quick hands, and showed patience. Whatever happened since then is beyond me. Sitting on the bench and losing your focus and sharpness

Sox at Tigers April 15th game thread 12:05 scheduled first pitch
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) Atlanta tried to convince the speedy small Lillibridge that he wasn't a power hitter and to put the ball on the ground and run like hell. For some reason, he thinks he is a mini-power hitter. If he ever gives that up, and tries to use his tools he might be worth something. Maybe we can have him do pushups everytime he lifts a lazy fly ball. Right now it looks like all those struggling at the plate are trying to hammer one about 700 feet rather than be patient and get their pitch and just make good contact. Ramirez for one is swinging at everything

QUOTE (TitoMB345 @ Apr 15, 2009 -> 07:15 PM) So does Wise, and he was given a shot. So does Owens, and he has been given chances. It always seems like BA is last to play, and only if absolutely necessary (Wise injury, Owens sucking in AAA). I just want him to be given a chance like everyone else, because he definitely plays the best D out of the bunch. Yes sir. I agree. You need a bit of patiernce too

Has Brian got anything to hit in his last at bats. I think that's three straight walks since he went into the line up for Wise
