The Angels must have read Billy Beane's book and how he thinks he fleeced Kenny. I just hope KW keeps his wits about him while he tries to make deals. We give up Jose V who is a spark plug and good left handed bat with power for a struggling possibe #5 starter? NO WAY!
-
I could not see the game since there was no broadcast in the area. I see Billy got 3 k's so please tell me how his velocity and pitch location was tonight. What type of pitches was he throwing? The heat, curves, sliders, etc?
-
Supposedly because of right shoulder and elbow problems. I heard he was scheduled for an MRI. Some think he was put on the DL to sooth his ego, but I am convinced, right or wrong, that he was hurt.

Everyone's right. No need for name calling. I just don't think that the kid Diaz is ready. Do we give him another chance? Mixed feelingsa bout that. If he fails again we may lose another game including in the dstandings. Can we continue to kep sticking someone in the #5 spot with no wins to show for it? I think we should bring up someone else. DFiaz just needs more seasoning. Ozzie made a comment after the first game that Diaz was better than Wright. I was at a lose to figure out where Ozzie got that idea. Diaz hasn't lasted through 5 innings and has given up 10 or 11 runs including 4 homers in his debut. Maybe the encouraging thing was he didn't give up any homers in start #2.

The Tribe pitcher Durbin comes into tonights game with an ERA over 11 runs a game. We need to score more than 3 or 4 off him especially in light of the fact so many of our hitters have done very well off him. But, the history of these hitters has been less than encouraging. I am fed up with listening to their comments after they get shut out by some scrub who couldn't carry the jock strap of people like Wilbur Wood, Joel Horlen, Gary Peters. et al, My sense is that if the hitters don't produce tonight we may see the trigger pulled on a trade.

I do get to see more than 10 since we get ESPN/ESPN2, WGN and the Fox Sports NW, which allows me to see Mariners/Sox games. But, I agree with you that when you think you have a chance to see the game and the rain comes, and of course ESPN won't go back to the game when it commences, it sucks. How the game turned out is of little comfort because I wanted to see the team play and get a chance to see Diaz pitch.

Got home late and had the VCR set up to record Indians and Sox on ESPN. Rain delayed the game and I suffered with the Twinkies. Also see that the rookie has given up 5 more runs before the 5th inning is done. I think Ozzie has a screw loose if he thinks this guy is doing better than Wright. They both suck. I think we need to try and get someone else for the #5 starter and hope we get a win. 1 run by the Sox? Once again offense all blown in one game, but at least I got to watch that one yesterday and it was fun. I know you guys have been have already been saying the things I just said, but I hope you understand my need.

silva, toughest of the three starters this series??

Hopefully after today he will be 5-1 and 13-2 lifetime. I think Mark Buerhle will give is a great effort. Now if we can score at least 4 runs we can win for sure. I am not optimistic about our offense, but 4 runs might be manageable. I think Mark will be tough and if he give up 0 or even 2 or 3 runs it will be another great pitching effort by our starters. The question is: Have the Sox ever faced Silva before? -
The O needs to stop screwing the starters.

What we have seen lately, except for one 15-0 rout is too much like the fiasco of last year. Why is it that we let one player each game beat us and our hitters continue to play like limp noodles? If we have no offense I think we need to expect our pitchers to step up also. We don't score more than one run so why should we not expect these pitchers to hold the opposition down too? One again it's that one guy of the otehr team. Tonight it was Hunter. Last night Jones. Against the O's it was Roberts. -
PATHETIC! The Twins come to Chicago with no worries whatsoever. Heck their just playing the White Sox. I guess there is always tomorrow and someone needs to say the old cliche about how the season is long, etc. I figure I'll watch the game Sunday and the one Monday on TV. The Sox have been winning when their on the Golden Screen.

Politte gives up the homer to the 1st batter he faces and we are down three. That means our offense will try to hit the three-run homer with no one on base.
-
And this is caused almost everytime by one player of the other team who we can't get out. Where did Hunter ever become a homerun threat? I guess only versus us. Politte should never pitch in the 9th inning.
-
Your right of course. I was just trying to be nice to them.
-
The hitters went out in the bottom of the 8th like the champs they are. A ground out, a strike out and a pop out. Sums up their offensive abilities the last few games pretty well I think.
-
Olivo goes after the first pitch from a new pitcher and grounds out. Was anyone watching the game to get a read on this Twinks pitcher Greasywheels or whatever his name is?
-
Just logged on. I have been coaching a youth baseball game. See we are in the last of the 8th and getting beat again. 1 run by this offi\ense off some unknown again.
-
Good point. Our touted minor league pitchers don't seem to produce much do they? Then we get Mark Buerhle who is a low draft choice and the guy comes out of no where to be one of the best. Makes no sense to me. Look at our five starters and Buerhle is the only Sox farm product. I'm not sure any of our relief pitchers are Sox farm hands either.
-
White Sox will be on WGN Sunday at 2:05 CDT versus the twins. Buerhle pitches for the Sox. I think Silva goes for the Twins. ESPN has advertised the Sox and Indians game as their national broadcast for Monday from Cleveland. The game starts at 6:05 PM CDT. I see the Sox will throw Felix Diaz in his second major league start. I will be interested in seeing Diaz pitch and how he rebounds from the 4-homer game versus Baltimore. See you all in front of the TV.
-
I don't understand why he doesn't at least try a hit and run play rather than a steal. Harris should have been protecting the plate and swinging on that last pitch. If Rowand was stealing at least take a chance to protect the runner. What is worse is our runners are getting thrown out by no name second rate catchers.
-
Aggressive baseball my freakin rear end!
-
3-2 and Willie takes a close inside pitch. Strike 3 what a waste.
-
Alomar has all that experience and he can't bunt a runner over. I am worried that he can't throw out runners either.
-
Well spoken! I think we are going to see a Sox team that is charged and ready to go.
-
I think you are right about that. It may be a little while into the season before we see consistency with our starters, but Ozzie has them concentrating on the batter and winning games rather than who's warming in the bullpen.

I hear you and respect your opinion.
