There was an episode of Vice about escaping from NK. No way you can get to SK through the DMZ, so you have to escape into China, then make a >2000 mile trek to Laos undetected, and then finally cross a river into Thailand where you will be arrested, but at least be recognized as a refugee. China and Laos will send you back to NK where you will be killed. Escaping will, in all likelihood, result in the murder of your family. If you're a woman escaping into China, chances are one of the couriers/brokers you run into to try to get you to NK will sell you into sex slavery instead. An activist they work with said that 80% of female escapees spend some amount of time in sex trade.
  2. I'm interested in how it all can work out. Since Reagan, we've used military spending as stimulus. It will be interesting to see how much we can remove from the defense budget without putting people out of work.
  3. I'd love to see a d-line with Clowney and Watt
  4. It seems to me that cloud storage should have wonderfully high margins if you want it to
  5. There's a difference between being indestructible and being so poorly constructed that it creaks and bends if you handle it roughly.
  6. It's good and they at least tried to do something about crap build materials. I'm glad they didn't add resolution as that s*** is getting out of hand and is a major battery suck. There had been a rumor that this might come in at a lower price than most flagship phones as carriers are applying pressure to OEMs to make phones affordable for non-contract purchasing (who thought we'd ever hear this? thanks T-Mobile!)
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 24, 2014 -> 09:19 AM) Do you honestly think if Rick Hahn were to sit and talk advanced stats with Hawk that his eyes wouldn't glaze over and he'd walk away and start pouring the scotch? You aren't going to untrain his "70 years in baseball" in one speech. Isn't that how Hawk reacts to everything nowadays? Hell, one of his eyes is on perma-glaze now
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 22, 2014 -> 09:00 PM) Didn't realize how good Al Jefferson has been (tonight excluded). MJ finally with a good move. The beauty of lowered standards - "this year, we'd like to not be the worst team in the East"
  9. Dropbox is at the top of the chart in terms of reliability. They don't overextend -- they say you're going to put this s*** in a folder, and it's going to be in the cloud ASAP. It will be wherever you want Dropbox to be. Nobody is going to break into your Dropbox unless you give up your password. Afraid your password will be stolen? We have two-factor authentication for that. Do you want that app called [all apps] to sync to Dropbox? Great! Since we were the first/best to the consumer market, every app that has a cloud option has Dropbox. Want to share a file? Here's a secure, unsearchable link. Want a more secure method to share? We have options for that. I use a lot of Skydrive/Onedrive since it makes it easy for me to deal with Office documents on the go (it allows me to load a temporary copy of Office on any computer since I'm an Office 365 subscriber), but I love Dropbox for pretty much everything else. I think there is a lot of money in cloud storage -- I also don't disagree that there are going to be some losers in the scramble for this business. Dropbox, though, will not be the loser. They are going to be the winner. They apparently have a very dev-friendly API and a huge userbase that makes Dropbox THE service to have if you want it to play nice with any other app/program/service.
  10. I also was successful when reaching out to customer service. They could tell that I hadn't used the service.
  11. I don't see many deals that will make a whole lot of sense. I mean, if we can get something of value for Hinrich/Boozer, let's do it. If all we can get for Hinrich is something like a 2nd rounder (and I can't believe we'd ever get more), you might as well keep him so we can be tolerable to watch in the playoffs.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 10:00 PM) sounds like a waste of time to me. Sammy Sosa didn't learn English and look at how many home runs he hit Sammy always spoke English fine until they started asking him whether he was juicing
  13. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Feb 19, 2014 -> 02:38 AM) Shopping for any kind of clothes that fit well is unbearable when you're 6'6 getting fat. Now I feel your pain
  14. But that one cool play! The low error totals!
  15. I wouldn't say Kansas is the worst state
  16. The Adam Dunn blame game has clearly gone too far
  17. Honestly, this is one of the reasons it can be difficult to figure out what's going on in the organization. Were drafts bad because: -scouts were bad, recommending bad players -GM is bad, overruling good scout recommendations -owner is cheap, overruling the choices of GM/scouts due to cost -player development is great, making up for iffy drafts -player development is terrible, making good drafts look bad We are finding out that it was the owner to a great extent for the Sox recently, but it can be pretty damn difficult to know which variables are true at any given moment
  18. I remain more excited about Turner than anyone else.
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 15, 2014 -> 09:38 AM) Sigh, i know this is going to end up being the USB. That happened to me. Was dicking around forever and switched USB cords, making it work right away. Also, uninstall any others Android devices' drivers if you have those installed
  20. Marginal player probably isn't the right way to describe it. There are some who see serious star potential and others who see a nice talent with no position. It isn't like your average "not sure if this guy is good enough"
  21. Yeah, I don't see Martin at fault at all here. He was like prey and was trying to deflect until they went away. They never did. He could have been fine in most locker rooms. The worst is that he did have the courage to confide in everyone that he was having a problem and that only accelerated the harassment.
  22. With Herm around, Nomar would be doing a Jeter "circle jerk around baseball career finale" right about now
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 14, 2014 -> 08:26 AM) Im curious why you guys are ok with it because he really believes in what he is saying? Multiple people on this site have reported his comments as offensive, racist, and sexist, and have gotten into long and terrible arguments with him. Now that he is gone, its ok because he really believed in what he was saying? That is an interesting position to take I'm not okay with blatantly inappropriate stuff under any circumstance -- it's that I'd prefer Duke say "poor people should die hungry because that's the way the system works" or something rather than somebody posting that just because it would piss a bunch of people off
  24. Yeah, I've never seen a conservative take a joke well
  25. This is sad. More than being mad at Incognito, this whole situation makes me feel bad for Martin. Incognito fined himself in kangaroo court for "breaking" Martin....Martin was clearly broken. He was already in a bad place. Here is a pros-cons (they're not in any special order) list he shared with a non-NFL friend:
