Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:20 PM) The Phillies signing M.A. Gonzalez is great news for those that want Peavy traded to Red Sox. Indeed

QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:14 PM) Hey, guys, I have a twitter account and I just signed in to see who was following the site. One of the followers is a Chicago baseball writer named Paul Sulivan. Other followers are RotoBaseball, Dan Plesac, Mike Trout, Dustin Pedroia, Ben Badler and Nick Cafardo, among many others. I don't think this is a bogus site. Those are people they are following, not people that are following them

GT 7/26: Yes, Peavy and Rios are still on the team
I think it's a sure bet that we pick up that buyout from his last contract. Other than that, I'm not sure how much more we'll have to pay

QUOTE (flavum @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:07 PM) I'm holding out some hope that they can make a managerial change after the season, if for no other reason than he's not going be there in 2015 anyway. Just speed up the process on that front. Hahn should be able to hire his own guy. Dan Hayes has been telling me that Rick Hahn loves Robin, that Robin wants to stay, and that ownership may have more loyalty to Robin than to Hahn -- but that there is no inkling on any side within the org. to make that change at this point in time.

I'm going to vote, "Robin Ventura has had minimal impact on our record"

QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 10:03 PM) You guys really think this is bogus? I didn't know you could use just use the MLB symbol wily nily and get away with it. It might be technically illegal, but there are so many people using MLB-owned images that it would be impossible to find them all. I'm guessing it is only illegal if they are profiting, anyway.

QUOTE (mike65 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 09:56 PM) Check out MLB insiders on Twitter. It sounds like a deal is forthcoming. I almost dropped my jaw when I read all the recent tweets. My only caution is that not one national writer has picked this up. What say you guys? https://twitter.com/@mlbinsiderlive I can't think of any reason to believe that twitter. Probably fishing for followers. I'm all for some trades, though!

2013-2014 NFL Thread
I agree. Jury is still out on Emery. There has been some good and some bad so far. I don't see him being around long enough to fire Trestman if Trestman has to be fired EDIT: in other words, I think he has staked his job on Marc Trestman to a large extent

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 09:03 PM) Yep, good call That's no accident Also, this is yet ANOTHER righty who he's looked very nice against. He hasn't been knocking balls off the fence, but he's worked a walk and generally just competed and made decent contact

Anyone notice that a good portion of Dayan's swings have been finished with two hands on the bat lately?

Peavy to Boston, Avisail Garcia + 3 low lv specs to Sox
QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 07:39 PM) That report contradicts all other indications that Adams is untouchable. If we could somehow get Adams and Wong - I'd refrain from masterbatory exercise for a year. AKA - it's highly unlikely. I'd do the opposite

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 06:57 PM) Phillies willing to listen to offers for Cliff Lee according to Jerry Cransick. Could affect Peavy's value Wasn't he just scratched due to an arm injury?

If Theo held on to Sori until next year's trade deadline, he would have gotten some talent back and the cash savings would have been the same or better.

Trade Deadline 2013
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 08:52 AM) De Aza just cannot be included in any plan going forward in CF. He's perfectly fine in LF. ADA can play CF. We don't have to care what he likes. He does fine out there when he doesn't have the yips like earlier this year

Rios, $1M traded to Rangers
QUOTE (scs787 @ Jul 25, 2013 -> 10:48 PM) Jake, me and you were the only ones who were worried about Cecchinis lack of power. I've changed my mind on him if he moves to a middle infield position, have you done the same? As a 3rd baseman? No thanks. As a SS? Yes plz. I went from iffy to ecstatic about the though of acquiring him. He's moved ahead of Owings on my wishlist if e really can play SS. I'd assume if he could play big league SS, he'd be playing there. I'd gladly add him to the system, but there's one very important thing I've learned about young guys - NEVER count on players hitting for more power. They much more commonly fail to reach projected power than anything else. He obviously is a real productive hitter now, but he's probably not going to post a .450 OBP in MLB. He's reportedly a fine defender at 3B, but not a good runner. Baseball America says (behind a paywall) he won't be a basestealing threat because he has below average speed. He has to remain a .300 or better hitter and keep walking at 12.5% or better as he has been or else he starts fading towards the powerless 3B territory. I think Michael Young but with more walks but with more walks (maybe, probably, less average) would be a good comparison. I wish he was a bit toolsier...but hey, beggars can't be choosers. He's a really nice prospect.

I definitely think Law had something against the White Sox. I think he's buried the hatchet, though. Could be because KW isn't the GM anymore.
