  1. Jordan deserves to be an MLB ballplayer IMHO. This is a case of 1. not needing 13 pitchers and 2. trying to get the best 25 we have on the roster, regardless of matchups, etc.
  2. The long-term unemployed are unemployable, research finds

  4. So the Bulls look like the likely 5 seed. Not bad for a team without its best player, played a lot without its best player's backup, played almost the entire season with backups at the 2 (again, sometimes 2 backups deep), had its 5 miss significant time, had its best post player off the bench miss big time, and had its All-Star 3 miss some time as well. Not bad.
  5. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 09:59 PM) Oh, f*** no! This is the referenced bible passage: I don't think it necessarily means that he's coming to Chicago, but one can never be sure. It might also mean that gay marriage is bad.
  6. QUOTE (buhbuhburrrrlz @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 09:06 PM) PRETTY PRETTY PRETTY PRETTY GOOD Yep. They get rings, we get posters
  7. It will be more than 15 games and it probably won't be 15 games into this vaunted new approach they've been talking so much about.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 06:05 PM) What age were you? Junior High aged. I had been forced to pray so many times throughout my public school career that I was shocked to eventually learn that it wasn't allowed.
  9. This would not be the right night for Addison to forget how to pitch -- big chance for him to solidify a big win to break up a dubious week for the Sox
  10. Hector has a nice cut, just never gets hits
  11. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 07:50 PM) Are you drunk? Legit question. Great play by Kawasaki, Gillaspie remains hot. Kind of slappy at the plate though, I figured we would have gotten an HR from him by now.
  12. So...will we mention that Robin has made two straight good decisions - letting Axe finish the inning, unleashing PK on 3-0?
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 07:47 PM) Keppinger and Viciedo combining for 0 walks in 100 at bats...that's impressive Our team has been horrendous at working walks. 0% for Kep and Viciedo is crazy at this point; I know neither are prolifically patient, but they do take walks. 4% rate from Dunn? That's asinine.
  14. Eventually you've gotta give the guy the chance to get through 6 innings. Too many short outings from our starters lately.
  15. I think it's obvious that Axe is a major league ballplayer. He should be able to always find a place as a 5th starter or perhaps 4th on an NL team. The idea of him being our 5th starter isn't crazy in and of itself, it only seems so bad when it is obvious he is at best our 6th best starter.
  16. Our approach is pretty troubling, especially given that a lot of the players are not playing like themselves. This team was never going to be really high on base, but guys like Dunn that ALWAYS take walks aren't even doing that. Players like Keppinger that NEVER strike out are striking out. I have to think that will settle down a bit.
  17. I'm mystified with Kep's strikeouts, even after he's recovered a bit at the plate.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 16, 2013 -> 05:22 PM) I wonder at what age school teachers address the issue? I'd say second grade. Problem is if a school teacher addressed the issue, he/she might have to delve into personal opinion about good/evil; God/man and that wouldn't work. Seriously, how do teachers address this? Cause ultimately you'd have to probably address the issue of evil or evil people. I remember my teacher on 9/11 immediately speculated that it was "suicide sickos" after the first tower was hit. She then led us in prayer. At my public school.

    2013 Films Thread

Saw a film called Stoker this weekend. No relation to Bram Stoker, lol. Couple of famous folks in there, Matthew Goode in a leading role and Nicole Kidman in a supporting role. Very strange movie, excellent visual play, and in general it could aptly be described as an homage to Alfred Hitchcock. Worth seeing I'd say, but not amazing. Don't know how widely it will be distributed, I saw it at a hole in the wall theater and had heard nothing of it previously.
