    Any Mad Men fans?
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 07:30 PM) Now that Lars Anderson is back, does he go on the 40-man? I think we're full there, unless we can DFA Septimo while he's on the DL. Oh, Lars. I missed him.
  3. Once upon a time, Carl Everett batted 3rd for a World Championship team
  4. I just don't really care if Melton sucks. I'd prefer my bad at broadcasting former players to at least be charming, but in the end it doesn't really bother me. I like Frank on there.
  5. I'll say it as I always do, he's wonderful and he might not be the best if anyone else would do it the way he does. Most broadcasters tend to go with the "if I speak with little enough inflection, they might not even hear me" method with a little bit of "let's pretend I'm not on a local station"
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 04:28 PM) Just got home. Damn MLB.tv blackouts. I have to watch the Royals broadcast. You can watch the Royals broadcast but not the Sox?
  7. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 04:26 PM) You only see Chen at most 4-5 times a year. You see Francouer 19 times a year. I feel like a HR from him is a foregone conclusion
  8. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 12:22 PM) Welcome to 2013, Bryce Harper Welcome to my fantasy team, Bryce Harper
  9. Chris looks as good as I've ever seen him, stuff and command wise. Now using two different speeds on his breaking ball and using the changeup more deftly and effectively than I've seen before. Hope he keeps it rolling!
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 08:09 AM) They have enough DH's under contract for now. They seem happy to have the most horrific defensive corner infield ever assembled. Knowing them, they'll want to make VMart a C again and sign yet another DH to get the old man a title.
  11. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 10:58 AM) I don't think it's really a conspiracy theory to say that MLB used the leverage they had in the ownership transition process to get the Astros to agree to the move. It seemed pretty obvious. I thought that was out in the open as well.
  12. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 10:55 AM) What is commonly accepted by sectarian historical scholars is that there was a Jewish guy named Jesus who was born sometime around 3BC and made some outrageous claims that led to him being crucified sometime around 30AD. That he performed miracles while alive and that he was resurrected after his death are of course, not commonly accepted. This is what I recall from my early college days as well.
  13. I know that it was gruesome, probably unfathomably painful, etc...but I feel like there has been some overreaction. Every orthopedist I've heard talk to the press has said that he should be 100% back to normal by next season. It's not 1985. If he tore his ACL, there would be no trending twitter phrases about this. Also, @StephLauren : Kevin Ware’s actual twitter account is @_Woody23, not @KevinWare_5. Do not engage. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 10:51 AM) Yeah, because scholarship athletes are required to pay their own medical bills. I went to a D3 school and still had 5 figures of medical bills paid for by the college.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 10:04 AM) Another reason to think the Alexei contract isn't half bad at all. Indeed. Also, I think Kinsler is ultimately the odd man out. Gordon, you have two months to be good before you become Ian Kinsler the White Sox's backup.
  15. QUOTE (Capn12 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 09:13 AM) I was smart enough to opt for the month-to-month plan this year....lets hope I still have a reason to pay in September. I always go month to month, but that has more to do with me spending about half the season in the Chicago market. I don't even want to think about a world in which Sox games aren't worth watching.
  16. It would be rather contrary to what is considered appropriate in this age to simply wipe an entire country off the map. If we cared about the human rights abuses under KJI/KJU, then it wouldn't make much sense if we nuked those humans into oblivion.
  17. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 12:43 AM) Holy crap I just realized Olacio is listed as 6-7, 270! That's 40 more pounds than last year! That's a big ass dude
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Apr 1, 2013 -> 07:29 AM) Ok, I will hug myself.
  19. QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Mar 29, 2013 -> 01:56 PM) Long term pitching deals always work in the long run. 24M (Fielder) + 16M (Sanchez) + 22M (Cabrera) + 25M (Verlander). $87 million into 4 players is a terrible business plan, despite how good those players are. Especially players who have body types that love to get big (Fielder and Drinky), an average pitcher and a guy who has 1550+ innings before age 30. Not to mention Jackson, Scherzer, Fister, are all entering free agency in the next 2 years or so. I get that they're pretending to be a big market team, but there are better ways to go about it. That will be the biggest issue. They really need to be able to replace those players (at least some of them) from within if this whole thing will work out. You also didn't mention Victor Martinez, who they may want to extend after this year or at least replace by that 2015 season.
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 31, 2013 -> 11:55 PM) I think what generally drives me crazy as a fan and winds up getting me suspended is when crazy stuff happens in our season. Like we'll have a rotten record in the Cell the first 2 months. Usually teams with the talent of the White Sox go 6-4 minimum on long homestands, not 4-6 or 3-7. I'd love for our team to be consistently good in the Cell. It'd save me pulling my hair out. What also drives me batty is never having a long winning streak. It seems like my team, the Sox, is incapable of one of those indescribably delicious 9-to-12 game win streaks that can really get the team well over .500 and establishing itself as a wild card contender. What also has driven me insane is losing to divisional foes, when those teams stink. Let's say KC has a typical KC season. It kills me when they dominate us in that scenario as the Royals did last year. Finally what drives me batty is the inability of Sox starters to complete six innings, preferably get one out in the seventh, even two outs. I am of the opinion the Sox have a heckuva difficult time covering nine outs with our bullpen. That said, I think I will be a lot calmer this year even if those things happen again ... cause my expecations are finally lower. They've remained high every year since 2005. I've had high expectations all those years that followed the WS title. This year I hope to enjoy baseball or at least not get so worked up. I don't expect us to get the wildcard which leaves the division title or bust. And I'm not too energized about our chances there. But I am kind of a wacko regarding the Sox. My opinion on most Sox matters totally deviates from the normal fan. GO SOX! LOL hearing your pre-emptive complaining about the Sox's play at home means it really is time for another year of White Sox baseball. Woo!
  21. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 30, 2013 -> 10:12 PM) Can you please change my username to Knuckles That will confuse the living hell out of me
  22. QUOTE (farmteam @ Mar 31, 2013 -> 12:52 AM) I thought the issue was that whatever this product that could be litigated over is used by some absurd portion of agribusiness. So if there were an injunction that would prevent the product's use, that would seriously screw up the nation's food supply. At least that's how I took the way the GMO supporters argued it. If that's the case, then that is a legitimate problem that needs to be considered. Indeed. The law doesn't stop inquiry or legal challenge, but it does prevent the courts from halting the entire farming industry while those things happen.
