  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 7, 2013 -> 06:17 PM) Fill a bathtub with water. Stick antennae in there. (1997 method) Or I guess just stream it via 670thescore.com haha. Yeah, I then just upgraded my car stereo so I can plug my iPhone into it
  2. I honestly don't think the benefit of moving up 10 spots in the draft is worth removing any chance of competing. There are frequently really great players available all over the first round, not to mention throughout the draft.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2013 -> 06:12 PM) Not true at all. Facing a dynamite righty pitcher with no DH is perfect time to rest Konerko. My bad, didn't realize it was Harvey tonight
  4. Once upon a time I was getting the Score in Memphis. Has only worked about twice though
  5. The only real explanation for PK sitting out is that his body just isn't holding up like it used to
  6. I missed the memo on why PK is out
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ May 7, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) Dunn has been fine defensively at 1B since he's been on the Sox. I agree. He's fine. Not great and a lot of ST'ers only remember the couple mistakes he's made. My dad insists that he always steps forward to early when he receives throws and that it costs him range...I don't know if I see that.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 7, 2013 -> 01:37 PM) In his best year of 2008, he only averaged 90.6 mph, the lowest of his career, until 2012's 90.1 Yeah, I'm not SUPER concerned about it. Pitchers can adapt, but he certainly will have to do that -- his pitching style isn't a perfect match for the type that can sustain some velocity loss. He isn't Mark Buehrle and that's why Coop keeps saying he needs to learn to pitch like him. I don't see any reason, at the moment, to have him come back any sooner than the 30 days he's allowed to rehab though. Let's see how much velocity he can gain back and let him hit any speedbumps in AA/AAA rather than Chicago where we've had a pretty good run of starting pitching so far.

My brother passed the field sobriety test and almost got off without a breathalyzer. He later blood tested .19 -- the legal limit in CO is .05. Sounds like field sobriety test just sucks as an indicator. It's so crazy to think what something like that can do. I'll be honest, my brother and I think the reason he got accustomed to doing that was when he drank underage. As a high schooler, he would go to "parties" and drink with his friends and he would basically have to drive home so not to attract the attention of our parents. Of course, my parents would say that they would pick him up anytime for any reason, but high school kids don't weigh the potential death of self or others versus getting grounded very well. Once you've done it a few times, you start to think it is okay. "My threshold is higher." "I've done it a million times." It's a tricky problem to solve because the people committing the offense are physiologically disabled to a certain extent when it comes to making good decisions. I'd imagine many of the people that do this (not all, by any means -- there are some assholes that know exactly what they are doing) would say they wouldn't ever drive drunk when they are sober. Then they have some drinks, maybe don't realize how much they had, maybe think it's just a one time thing, think it is their only option that night for some reason...who knows. With all that said, AFAIK drunk driving rates are trending downward. It's hard to deal with because it is so entrenched with some people...it's far easier to try to get young people to never start than it is to get the town drunk to quit doing the thing he's done for 20 years. My dad said when he was a younger guy in 70s, 80s he and his friends would ride MOTORCYCLES drunk. They never even thought about how that might be illegal -- he said if you got pulled over, lots of cops would just take your alcohol or drive you home.
  10. With all the times in the past two weeks that the Bulls have had "no chance" of winning....I can't help but have some optimism for now. The nice part of all the injuries is that I won't feel that bad if/when we lose, but we play so hard and so well that it is just magnificent to watch no matter the result -- especially when "win" is a potential result no matter who plays.
  11. I wonder how tomorrow night's game will go. If it's close, is there any chance that the Heat just fail to score down the stretch again?
  12. QUOTE (bmags @ May 7, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) How do we know Viciedo doesn't realize it? I mean I suppose he does, not that it really matters. My experience is that players don't tend to think in such big picture terms because they are so wrapped up in the day to day.
  13. My column today for Yahoo! Sports is about what we need from Dayan looking forward: Dayan Viciedo's Return Key for Chicago White Sox Basically, Viciedo probably doesn't realize it but he is so essential to our success. We don't necessarily need him in 2013 to succeed (even though it sure would be helpful), but the way our franchise looks going forward basically hinges on him. He is the one young player we have that is capable of being a franchise cornerstone. If he doesn't pan out the way we hoped, our team won't have any big run producers on the right side of 30 moving forward and we don't seem especially close to having a prospect come up with that sort of potential either. Flowers could turn things around, but he doesn't really have the ability to be a 3-slot type of hitter -- he makes Dayan look like a contact hitter. Gordon could magically turn things around, but his absolute ceiling would be about 25 bombs and he almost definitely will never see that happen. An excellent 2 hitter still seems like Gordon's most optimistic fate. Trayce Thompson? I just don't see it happening, though he could come up and be a 5-slot type of hitter. If Dayan doesn't break out, we may not see players with elite run producing abilities until Hawkins and Barnum mature. And that's a big "if" and a long wait. The Sox are great at acquiring players, but the problem with that is you have to spend money or players to get them. We need Dayan to bring us some home cooking in the middle of the order for the next 5-10 years.
  14. With a lineup like last night's, if Nate can't get shots off against LeBron that should leave Marco able to score. Getting an easy basket with ball movement would be much easier if LBJ guards our point guard. The reason he shut Derrick down is because Derrick just wanted to run iso instead of playing basketball and running a real play
  15. That's my favorite part of not being in a rebuild. When a player plays good, we start to envision how he can contribute to our team for years on end. When a player plays good for the Cubs, their fans just start to think about what players they'll get back in trade.
  16. I have to give props to Marco for not really being a problem defensively. He's come a long way. Not to say D Wade really pushed him, but you could see his effort was very high all night long. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ May 7, 2013 -> 02:48 AM) Lineup I know won't happen but holy s*** imagine if it did: Rose's backup Curry Butler Love's backup Noah
  17. With all the ACL talk, I decided to take a more comprehensive look at how long it takes for NBA players recover from ACL injuries in the new millennium. ACL Recovery Times in the NBA Hint: Derrick doesn't look good.
  18. This thing is about to end either way now I don't see this as an East - West thing. I enjoy watching clubs from both sides.
  19. LOL I thought Manu made that
  20. Spurs roaring back
  21. Jimmy Butler hasn't left the floor for the last 12 quarters of Bulls basketball
  22. This might be the top of the mountain boys, enjoy the air while you're here
  23. QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 6, 2013 -> 08:44 PM) the officiating has been pretty good so far. but Lebron should have just got a T for throwing that ball across the court like a baby I'm not too upset by the officiating either. It would be nice if they stopped the b****ing, but I doubt that is actually possible.
