  1. I wouldn't quit being a fan if we traded Thornton for Youkilis, but the thought that those two are playing at a similar level is absurd. Thornton isn't the same guy that was once the best non-closer reliever in baseball, but he's still pretty damn good.
  2. Fields is not a sure bet to hit better and is another hopeless defensive 3B. On one hand I'm all for buying low, but our franchise can't keep running bench level third basemen out there. Hudson was worth a shot, but don't take another equally long shot. Get someone that you know for sure will do at least offense or defense better than Orlando Hudson.
  3. QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 11:57 AM) He didn't necessarily bring it up but he knew it was a loaded question and even said he would get blasted for it, which is what some of us (Me included) are doing for not focusing on the real issues. He clearly didn't want to discuss it.
  4. This is a stupid thread. We have a $100 million dollar payroll, I think it's fair to say that low attendance will tie our hands in adding beyond that. We have a good enough team to win, they'll just have to go out and do it. And thinking that this 3B situation is easily rectified is the same line of thinking that brought Orlando Hudson here. The league is short on good third basemen.
  5. The guy never manages to play a full season, it's crazy. He may prove worse than Hudson, though he may prove far better. Tough to say really. I have to think Hudson's defense will be better, so Youk better get to swinging that stick like he used to.
  6. The Cubs are bad, but I have to think their winning percentage gets better if they don't move their starting pitchers. They have a pretty damn good rotation despite all of their other flaws.
  7. QUOTE (Disco72 @ Jun 20, 2012 -> 09:28 AM) If he is, KW would be a fool to hold on to him. Unless he's trying to win this year and sell tickets in the near future
  8. I hate the NBA now. LeBron winning is going to ruin ratings for the NBA. The hatred of the Heat has fueled a new interest in the NBA, once they win everyone is just going to get pissed and quit watching.

Time to call Mustain up to the big show.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 10:58 PM) Casey Michael McGehee has about a 700 OPS in the worst division in baseball, other than our own. That's fine, in and of itself, except that he's almost exclusively played 1B this year. Last season, he had a .942 fielding percentage at 3B. I just think you trade away AJ and make Flowers the full-time catcher, you're sending a message to his teammates that you're surrendering in a way. Flowers hits the ball hard, when he hits it, but that's not nearly often enough. His defense has been good, but that's not a clear enough upgrade to make that move from my standpoint. Maybe at some point KW will think he does need to completely shake up the team and trade away one of the veterans. In that sense, AJ would make perfect sense. But it could just as easily backfire completely. I think there was a time that Flowers was ready to be a competent, low end starting catcher. I don't think that time is now. I also think he's gotten fat.
  11. Unfortunately, Gordon isn't out of the woods as being a surefire MLB hitter
  12. Tough game. Gotta regroup and make sure we get one tomorrow. Lots of season left boys
  13. That fastball low and away had an unbelievable amount of run
  14. Hudson's going deep. Quoth he: "f*** the haters"
  15. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 09:44 PM) Why was he looking at that? He thought it was hitting him. It's a good slider he's got, by all accounts. DV showing his inexperience a little bit there, though he worked the count fairly well to that point
  16. QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jun 19, 2012 -> 09:41 PM) Back to back to back ftw That's impossible
  17. I think Jake is a calm pitcher. He blows out all of his emotion AFTER each pitch so that he can relax and throw when it's time to do so. Rinse and repeat.
  18. lol what a bad at bat by Johnson
  19. Peavy says f*** off to pitch counts
  20. We're going to win at home. There's no magical voodoo there, it's just a matter of time.
  21. WOW did we get f***ed there. Terrible.
