Sucks that I'm going to have to miss the end of this game. Why do people have to die and have visitations...weirdest practice ever

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 05:23 PM) Once again, for the 20th time. Zach Stewart had an ERA of 7.88 against all major league teams last year not named the Twins (and reality, their AAA affiliate with all their injuries). Good he is not. Serviceable depends upon your opinion. Notwithstanding the issues evaluating a player on his first big league starts, there's a huge sample size issue with the argument you're trying to make.

Robin rightfully upset about that call.

I think Hector Santiago is the least reliable pitcher in this bullpen. He, like Stewart, would be much better off getting starts in AAA

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) You still have to wonder what happened to his fastball velocity, as well as what would happen if he tried to start. His offspeed pitches are extremely below average, so a long man is definitely his role for the time being. Could be related to starting or it could have something to do with added movement to his sinker...he goes out there fairly frequently with an 89-90 mph sinker that moves a TON. Days like today at ~92 it's a little flatter. This is more or less what I expect out of a sinkerballer going to the pen. I actually think his changeup is very good. His curveball is rarely located well but shows a nice little bite

A lot of people cast off 25 year olds like Zach Stewart and regret it later

Brendan Ryan with a Uribe-esque flat footed throw

Zach Stewart has a good sinker and a good changeup. Mix in a breaking ball and consistent command (he's been fairly good in this area, really) and he should be an innings-eater starter

QUOTE (MAX @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 05:03 PM) He did throw a curve. 3-2. Was fouled off. Plus he doesn't call the pitches. Hawk errantly called that a curve, it was clearly a changeup breaking in on Brendan Ryan

I have a very good feeling about Stewart. That changeup is a very good pitch. That entire at bat was a breaking ball away from being over, he must not have had it in his warmups. Stewart needs to be starting so he can use his entire arsenal and actually maximize his value.

I'm not worried about Danks, honestly. When Gavin gets beaten up by a RH lineup I'll start getting nervous.

The funny thing is that in San Diego at least 2 of these HR's don't go out. He'd love pitching in a pitcher's park

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 04:10 PM) I can't complain about a ton of things with the Sox this year, but for the life of me, I do not understand Robin's fascination with Will Ohman. He gets lefties out. Everyone on Seattle is left handed. Our other LHP are not that good against lefties

White Sox vs Mariners 3:10 CST
Gavin gets curveballs over early in the AB to lefites = good Misses early with fastballs = bad

It isn't rocket science that Gavin will not do as well against LH lineups like this.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 2, 2012 -> 04:04 PM) Go halfway between 2nd and 3rd and then have to turn around and bust his butt to get back to 2B? Hmmm.... The ball drops, he still doesn't score. If he does the right thing fundamentally, he at least has a 50/50 shot to get to 3rd on Ichiro. As it turned out, we scored the run anyway, but he didn't do what he was taught to do in the minors. If Ichiro catches it, O-Dog is out at 3rd because Ichiro will throw him out. If it drops right in front and O-Dog is standing on second, he's still out at third because of Ichiro.
