  1. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 08:24 PM) So you have the numbers staring you in the face that Danks provides a better opportunity for success than viciedo, but you trust your gut. Got it. If it was "any righty" vs "any lefty" ... sure, probably a lefty. But we're looking at Jordan Danks and Dayan Viciedo. What Dayan might lack in hits compared to Jordan, I believe he'll make up for in extra base hits. I would have started Danks over Wise, though. Wise provided offense today but his hustle and defense continue to frustrate so it's tough to say what the right call is there.
  2. Being a tough guy doesn't fix a slumping bat. The fact that two of our top hitters in Dunn, De Aza are not present and three of our other best hitters PK-AJ-Rios are slumping doesn't mean our team is a bunch of p*****s, it means we're slumping. I'd like to fix it, but I don't see evidence that we're gutless, just very unsuccessful thus far
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 08:19 PM) Veal continues to do the job vs lefties I think we'll see him back next season.
  4. QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 08:17 PM) So you would look at the rhp ba against scherzer and then look at viciedo's ba against rhp and play him? you would be increasing the probability of an out from that position. Full stop. Yes, I think Dayan Viciedo is more likely to contribute to a Sox win against Max Scherzer than Jordan Danks
  5. This board has regressed into Cub-like posting quality Hope the Sox win so I can call off the suicide watch
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 08:12 PM) Olmedo should have been playing instead of Beckham and Danks over Viciedo. The righties have no chance against that slider. I'll have my Dayan, thanks And O-Dog > Olmedo for me
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 08:00 PM) Nice start to the inning. I want to hear "It's All Good" I would very much like to hear that this evening
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 07:55 PM) Jones .192 vs. LHB, .328 against RHB. VENTURA IS AN IDIOT. These are always not absolutely accurate because there are only certain kinds of opposite handed hitters they see and only certain times they see them -- not to mention sample size issues
  9. All these extra pitchers are making managing way too fun for Robinho
  10. No idea where that 2-0 pitch missed
  11. Bench Dayan tonight my ass!
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 07:15 PM) The offense struggles and the starting pitching tires out. It's been a staple of Sox teams seemingly the entire 21st century, but I wonder how many other teams feel the same way? All of them
  13. It's 2-0 in the 3rd inning
  14. I still wouldn't mind keeping Liriano around next year, but I wouldn't pay much for him.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:27 PM) Not close. Rios had it measured all the way. Front of the warning track. Rios?
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 06:16 PM) Viciedo did it last night as well...would have put us ahead 5-4 at the time. That ball last night was f***ing spanked
  17. Well, Youk-Paulie looked like s***. That's the second ball AJ has hit that would have been a HR at the Cell but wasn't in Detroit
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) I swear sox fans have to be the most miserable out there. Go to MotownSports, they're even more miserable Imagine Soxtalk in September 2005, x5
  19. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 04:14 PM) Yup, taxpayers pay their salaries. http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/2012-0...eacher-incident And the teacher? Suspended (probably with pay) them moved to a different school. So...don't pay the teachers!
  20. So in that case, is it safe to say that Republicans are what's wrong with the USA? Can't choose good politicians to lead us?
  21. I'm a fan so I'm taking the under!
  22. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Sep 1, 2012 -> 07:58 AM) Because their is no accountability in teaching. If a kid underachieves it's their fault or their parents, not the teacher's. If teachers want better salaries they better start producing better educated kids. Depends who is pointing the finger. Oftentimes it IS the child's fault that he or she doesn't succeed (by extension, perhaps, the parents'). It is not for you or I to decide if the teacher isn't doing an acceptable job, it's the school district's. It should be evident to the school administrators whether teachers are doing a poor job. Good school districts take the tenure process very seriously, my "crappy" local district did some heavy vetting and review to make sure only the deserving received tenure and some just didn't get it (it's hard for kids to understand this since many of our favorite teachers were the bad ones).
