You trade Reed away assuming he's not one of VERY few closers that are good enough to keep that role for 6 years. Sans a WS win, you'd feel bad about him actually closing that long for them if he did. This mentally weak stuff wouldn't be said about Zack if he didnt have a clinical condition. Gavin Floyd isn't mentally weak either, he's literally unflappable out there. He's just inconsistent. Occasional bad pitching =/= mental weakness

I would give up Reed, but that's about the max. I don't value closers or relievers that highly.

I'd give up a lot for Felix. A lot. That would be such a KW move

1. It's very possible that Jose Quintana outperforms Zach Greinke the rest of this season. He has already outperformed him thus far. 2. Trading Gio Gonzalez, a minor leaguer, for Nick Swisher who was under contract is completely different than this. Nick was an accomplished MLB player and remains so. One has to wonder if the reason he had the one bad year in his career while here is because of the manager and/or coaches. It was a fair trade especially when you consider that Gio was not yet a major leaguer. Jose Quintana has had a run of starts that most major leaguers never get -- the player and contract we'd get in return is eons different as well and IMO is a far riskier trade than the Swisher deal. The Swisher deal should have had minimal risk but apparently he and Ozzie didn't mesh so he had to be an All-Star somewhere else.

It wouldn't shock me if KW made that comment about Ichiro just to f*** with everybody.

The vulnerability Miami showed in the run up to the Finals means we definitely had a chance. I don't know how much because there were probably just a handful of games we even had 4/5 starters at 100% and we played with 3/5 feeling good more often than not. We can't say what would have happened, but we definitely had a chance. If we can beat them at home with JL3 draining shots over LeBron, we can beat them in a series. It may not have happened, but it was certainly possible with how competitive some of those other series were.

Hey guys, I had written up a nice long response about artificial sweeteners right as Comcast decided I didn't need internet anymore. In the "best case" that we resign Greinke, we've still traded minimum salary big contributors to pay a pitcher $20M+ for longer than we'd probably want to. This is my biggest gripe here. I'd rather pay Peavy 20 per for 2 years than Greinke for 6.

If Mark is worth taking back in four years, that's be something. I'd also take him back now with a bunch of money. Also, I'm still bitter that he's gone. I wanted him to be a Sox forever, he was my favorite. I've been trying to pretend he retired....the sportscenter will show me some fat guy wearing a Buehrle Marlins jersey

I like how unaccomplished the list of tax laying teams is. It's better to be another team's key injury away from winning it all than hoping that you can sign a big FA or draft the ext superstar or trade for a star without getting fleeced...doing all that while not winning. We have now a championship contender that is near cap flexibility which the other teams lack. The Heat, Lakers, Knicks, Nets, Thunder better hope that all of their core stays just as good and healthy or in two years they are f***ed. If something happens to our core, their contracts end by the time we can complain about it.
