  1. HS baseball season in full swing, no vaca for me...
  2. Even if you wanted to make the majors all no-DH, now almost all HS and older leagues allow for DH, so pitchers are becoming specialized so early that you'll never have more than a handful of pitchers that can swing it at all.
  3. I don't think it would be smart to go out and say that the team is not good enough as is. It gives you more bargaining position and if you fail to acquire who you're looking for your failure isn't public.
  4. I think this is a good deal. We didn't give a lot up, we filled a hole with a guy who is probably going to bat in the .300s and isn't a terrible defender in LF, and he's cheap. The team is also now getting faster. I feel very good about this deal, I'm shocked he did it for that little money.
  5. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4651324 Wow, no love for Beckham or Niemann, that's pretty rough since I believe the statistics would have Gordo as top hitter and Niemann as top pitcher.
  6. Since I'm more of an indie/emo fan, I'll be surprised if anything I come up with makes the cut.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 11, 2009 -> 04:17 PM) The question is...can Kenny do it without dealing Hudson? The answer is yes....by dealing Floyd.

QUOTE (knightni @ Sep 18, 2009 -> 01:13 PM) Are we keeping a list? Wait, so Knightni's black? NOOOOOOOOOO
  10. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Sep 14, 2009 -> 07:56 PM) In a game of horse maybe, everyone knows Wallace is a poor shooter. In a strictly one on one game where he can back you down and dunk on your head, not so much. You might get lucky hitting a jumper or two, but come on Steve, he's still a fairly effective defender in spurts against much better players that you. I saw Ben Wallace hit 22 threes in a row out of the corner during warm ups before a Bulls game I went to. All of those guys are lights out when they aren't guarded or going at game speed.
  11. I'm tired of debating it with my friends. Is he a good defensive shortstop? I really do believe that he is, and that he in particular has excellent range at the position. He makes the simple errors, definitely. He has committed 17 errors this year, which can't be twisted into being a good stat. However, errors don't always tell the story. So, is the guy good? Feel free to use metrics.
  12. Looks like Buehrle is sitting on their laps.
  13. How about if you came at age whatever, you have to be naturalized for 35 years?

  15. What did Griffey do before during the anthem?
  16. I registered at WSI and got banned after two posts a couple years after registering here.
  17. I was registering at all kinds of message boards without hesitation. This has been my one and only White Sox message board, though.
  18. "The safe route will ultimately lead to a mediocre result." -- Kenny Williams
  19. When do we get him then? And, what does the first lineup look like?
  20. This move is for all the soxtalkers bewildered at the lack of action in the offseason.
  21. QUOTE (Chet Lemon @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) Regarding the mutual option, so it boils down to either the player gets a new multi-year deal or they leave? I never knew how they worked, I just figured he and the team would agree on $12 mil for '10 and let it ride. I believe the way it works is : First, Jermaine Dye decides whether or not he wants the option. If he says yes, then the team says yes or no. If either side says no, then no option.
