  1. I think he's saying a lot of that for dramatic effect more than actual meaning.
  2. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 12:26 AM) He got it from the Phillies message board I think. Damn. Rowand's b****es.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 25, 2006 -> 12:17 AM) He probably the 2nd most complete hitter on the team. I would say that he has enjoyed similar success. None of this matters, dont you understand? All that matters is where do I find the girls like that at MY school. Or, where is that school at? I believe a transfer maybe in order.
  4. The only one I really wanna keep is Sweeney. The rest, can go. Pitching prospects are a dime a dozen as it is.
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) Wait, this is our new LF?
  6. COOP WILL WIN! HE MUST WIN! HE WILL SAVE OUR STAFF! WE WILL WIN!!!!!11!!1!!!
  7. Why the fish does everyone want to get rid of Garcia? The man on the mound at the start of this game is the one who has got to go.
  8. I wouldn't give up on it just yet.
  9. They would probably wait till his start is done.
  10. I'm warming more and more to the thought of Brandon leaving. It's time to spark this team. Brandon could have been a major cog in the rotation for years to come, but by no means is he an automatic Cy Young or anything of the sort. I'll support the move for Soriano and I'll support the non-move of standing pat.
  11. I'm just gonna go out on a limb and assume the Kenny won't fish us, that he will make a deal that leaves us in a better position to win.

  13. Please get rid of Pods in this deal. I can part with BMac, although it will take some adjustment. BA is now very important to me here. Kenny is obviously confident in other arms in our system. (ala Tracey, Haeger, Phillips)
  14. Well, with the acquisition of Sandy, we'll have Rock coaching first base next year and Sandy on the bench.
  15. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 08:48 PM) Sorry, there's something very amusing to me about a guy wanting to be a writer and mixing up "your" and "you're." Usually people are mixing them up (Gaging them?) here. I was thinking about that, I just didn't wanna say anything.
  16. QUOTE(Butter Parque @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 08:51 PM) I've heard Sandy Alomar Jr. is available from LAD, I wouldn't mind picking him up, he's hitting .328 in limited AB's, but he's been terrible defensively. I agree.
  17. Not that they (Marlins) would do this because of salary and common sense reasons, but it would be nice to dump Freddy AND Vazquez to acquire a top of the line starter like Willis, and put BMac in the rotation.
  18. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 02:18 AM) Players that are aging like Dye AJ, and Iguchi should be given more time off. Younger players like BA, Crede, and Uribe should be ridden for all they are worth. A better backup catcher might be worth one full win from this point on. More than anything I hate seeing Mack in CF. BA needs VERY few days off, but Oz plays Mack like BA is batting .000 against righties. I don't mind mack in the corner spots, or even Ozuna, but we really only have one good defensive center fielder and that's Brian. Most of the other reserves can at least field their position and not potentially cost us games with their defense when they are in.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 10:07 PM) No offense to Ryan...but I don't want to see him in the big leagues until the end of the 2007 season. Stay in AAA, practice, and try to develop some more power, yes. Don't start his arbitration clock too early, don't rush things, don't scare the 21 year old into changing his swing. The goal should be to try to have him ready as a possible replacement for Dye at the end of 07, IMO. I can definitely agree with your point of view on this, but then part of me wants to know what he can do right now. Something about the way he hammers the spiff out of some major league pitching in ST makes me tempted to think what he can possibly do in the majors. And I'd hope he can just be a gap hitter with power potential, as opposed to trying to be a home run hitter. As far as replacing Dye goes, you also have to ask the question of who will replace Pods next year? Fields? Rogo? Ryan? Owens? Mack? Someone outside the organization?
  20. QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 09:16 PM) That or start taking xanax. Sounds good!
  21. I'm sick of playing reserves so much. We won despite that last year, and this year it just piles on to our problems. The worst is playing Mack in CF, he just can't handle it out there. BA is young and on fire, he shouldn't have any days off.
  22. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 02:48 PM) Bat him 1st. Rob plays LF and we trade Pods for a reliever. Now that I think of it, I wouldn't mind moving Pods right away. But don't play Rob there, bring up Sweeney and see if he can help spark something.
  23. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) The lack of backbone comes from the fact that he's scared of the bat. He tries to be too perfect with his pitches. He'll start off a hitter with a bunch of pitches that just miss the zone because he's trying to avoid contact, then he's in a hole and has to work out of it. And then when he actually gets ahead of a hitter, he throws the wrong pitch again. He's just f***ed either way. That could be the case, and he has decent stuff, but I don't see the stuff that was supposed to be better than Contreras's and all the things I heard about him this offseason. He has all the stuff to be a very good pitcher, but I definitely don't think the guy has great stuff. At least not anymore. It seems like almost every breaking pitch he throws this year (esp. his curveball) haven't been breaking. His slider was finally working well last night and he did great, but all his good pitches disappeared in the 6th.
  24. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 08:57 AM) The grand slam last night was on a slider that never slid. Same with both of Ivan's hits. Nothing lucky there - just plain old bad pitches. Yeah, I haven't noticed a supreme lack of backbone, I've just seen a lot of bad pitches thrown. Seems like a lot of his problems hang from his shoulder.
  25. Hawk does his job. If he sits there b****ing about how the Sox aren't doing good enough or something, then that doesn't help the organization. He has to keep the fan morale up, to increase support and ticket sales. I'd rather him pep talking us about how we have a chance as opposed to telling us we were in huge trouble because the tiggers will kick our asses.
