of the names mentioned, id like to see pavano, perez, clement ortiz alway has a high WHIP, lieber is old and just came off injury (although hes having a decent year last time i checked...still dont want him though). and i think lowe just plain sucks. hes a number three on boston, has two studs ahead of him, yet he has a terrible year. i think his ERA is still above 5. i think we have enough of those guys already. of the guys i like: pavano will probably cost the most, so hes probably out. i know the sox have looked at perez for a while, so i can see him being on the team. but id really like clement. the guy has nasty stuff, just never got enough run support when pitching this year.

just wondering how many games everyone went to this year. i went to 13 total games... 10 at USCF i was in miami for work during the marlins series and went to two games (planned that one on purpose) and went to detroit (the WORST city EVER) for a game in July i would have gone to more Tues night games, but i had softball on tues and wed nights for the majority of the year. anyways, 13 is the most ive ever seen the sox in person in one year (last year was about 10).

ha.. i was waiting for somenoe to reply to that... i started calling him that last year cuz its just funny. my brother even started the most annyoing chant at the games this year, just screaming out "hot carl hot carl hot carl hot carl" until we couldnt say it anymore. we were getting the funniest looks from the crowd around us. but we enjoyed it, and it helps us to have a better time at the game. anyways, thanks for the help with the nickname for cora. i still think it was somethign other than the jockey (and so does my brother), but it will have to suffice until i figure out if there was another one. cubs lost a HUGE game vs the reds today. dont know if any of ya saw it, but they were up 2-1 in the top of the 9th...2 outs, and ex-sox D'angelo jiminez got a triple, followed by a kearns double to tie it up. then kearns came through again in the 12th with a 2run hr, and the reds won 4-3 now, SF or hou can take a lead in the wild card ( i guess SF is up by half a game, since their game is tonight). anyways, not sure how this board works, but any tiime i can bash the cubs is a good time for me! :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs :fthecubs

it was definelty a nickname that was given by hawk and wimpy, not played out Berman. it was a nickname that they would say with his last name, and never used Joey anymore, like ____ Cora. it was kind of like Pudge Rodrigez or catfish hunter or Hot-Carl Everett so it wasnt like El Caballo or Godzilla or The Rocket(one word nicknames...last name not needed) i know none of this probably woulnt help, but maybe it might trigger in someone's mind.....

hey all. just wanted to say hi as a new member to the board. i wish i would have found this site earlier than just yesterday, though. would have been fun to talk throughout the season anyways, i have a question that i m sure someone out there has the answer too.... what was the nickname that hawk and wimpy (i miss wimpy ) gave to joey cora back in the 90's? since the day the sox got him to coach third, its been killing me cuz i cant remember it. someone help o, and :fthecubs -steve-
