  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:44 PM) Maybe the rumor would make the tigers offer even more for Soriano? Ding. Ding. Ding. I always liked you, Rock. Even if the White Sox aquire Soriano, I would imagine he would not even board the plane to Chicago before being moved elsewhere.
  2. Piggybacking on what I heard today, my source conjectured if the White Sox aren't the final resting place for Soriano, he could be moved out of the AL Central for starting pitching or elite bullpen help. He also noted if Soriano was, in fact, to stay with the White Sox, he would imagine Williams would seek a new contract with Soriano so the trading of his cheapest, youngest starting pitching didn't net a three month rent-a-player.
  3. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2006 -> 02:22 PM) I have a decent source but last time I put some stuff on the board I got slammed, but I do occassionally get info, and I was told and fathom can back me up on this because I told him in a PM that Soriano's price is going to include McCarthy. I think its a mistake, but it would make the White Sox offense one of the best in major league history. The only reason I've posted the story is because I've heard the same rumor around noon today from a close family friend, a member of the Minnesota sports print media. Thinks Podsednik would be involved in this deal one way or another and Soriano would have to agree to at least negotiate an extension with the White Sox.
  4. ESPN Radio's Dan Patrick is reporting via Tim Kurkjian that the White Sox are close to acquiring Alfonso Soriano from the Nationals in a deal that may center around Brandon McCarthy and are also seeking Kansas City's Mike MacDougal in a subsequent move in a deal surrounding Tyler Lumsden.
  5. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) -- there will be days where you suck and just don't have it. Move on and take two or three at the Pisshole. This was not one of those days, slappy. This was a winnable game, hence the creation of the first critical thread I have ever posted in my time here--I can't ever recall doing this in the past, at least not to this extent. Perhaps now you understand the frustration...perhaps
  6. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 03:37 PM) Yeah the team didn't play well over this series, we all watched the same games that you did. But I am not sure what how you expect people to react when we are in a stretch when we have won 16 of 20 games, including 8-2 in the last 10, yet only show up after a loss? Did you expect people to shower you with roses? Maybe even if you were hear respectfully discussing things that were wrong during the winning streak, you would have been met with a little more respect, but seeing as you really didn't show anyone who disagreed with you any respect, I don't get why you are so upset at people's reaction to your posts. Don't patronize me, Mike. Sadly, my hiatus proved my recent-Soxtalk sentiments correct. You will no longer have to concern yourself with my wild disregard for board rules or disrespectful posting habits--the first such alligation I have ever come across.
  7. Being critical of calls from the dugout or play on the field--especially play against a far inferior opponent--and needing to back off the ledge are near polar opposites. Use some baseball acumen here, folks. It's a shame because guys like Anthrax--who between incoherent ramblings had some very appropriate critcisms of a ballclub that went tailspinning before marching on to a title--get run out of here. Intelligent baseball discourse has reached record lows on our belov'ed site.
  8. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 03:01 PM) So true. Interesting to see some of the names at the bottom of the page that have just shown back up... You as well? The beat goes on. This is disappointing. I wouldn't have expected this sort of talk from you Steve, or Rock, or SS and even Tony. JimH, TQ, check your PMs.
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 03:00 PM) Boy, the Sox have been on such a hot streak, I starting forgetting how fast the wheels fall off around here... Good to see everyone back. No, no, not from you too. I can't believe some of the rhetoric I'm hearing from posters that really ought to know better. Disappointing.
  10. QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) But we won the road series, that's all you can ask for on the road I've said it about a trillion times already, Pittsburgh is not even close to the same team away from PNC Park as they are at home. Two of three on the road? Yes, in most cases, that is all you can ask for. But, when playing the arguably the worst team in Major League Baseball, that no longer holds any weight. When in a hunt for both the division and the pennant, that sort of mentality will cripple a winning ballclub. That is schoolyard, homer bulls***. You need to win 3/3 from the Pittsburgh Pirates when you are the defending champions and are trailing a team that will not be going away--Le Tigre are there for the long haul.
  11. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:55 PM) Well 2 and a half out and the Tigers are going to get another Sweep and no matter what we never sweep the Cubs so I expect to be 3 and a half back by Monday. Bingo. The White Sox will not sweep the Cubs. It doesn't happen. It's too odd a serious for that to happen. These are the games you have to win. Lest we forgot Manuel/2004 Guillen, wins in June are worth the same as wins in September. People need to explain themselves after today's loss.
  12. QUOTE(VAfan @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) Ozzie's got to take as much of the blame as Politte here. Where's Brandon McCarthy? Asking Politte to go a second inning was asking for trouble, and Ozzie knew it. The logical move would have been to make a double switch. Bring in McCarthy and have him bat in Uribe's spot. Bring in Ozuna and have him hit 9th to lead off the 10th inning. Ozzie also nearly blew last night's game. Instead of Mack v. Capps and Ozuna v. Marte, we had righty-righty and lefty-lefty with Uribe on 3rd. Had Pods not come through with a hit, we'd have lost that game too. This was the old, settling for the Sunday lineup lose preformance today made famous by the Manuel era and carried over to the 2004 club. Very disappointing. There is plenty of blame to go around. This isn't all on Politte, nowhere close.
  13. Plenty of blame to go around, today. As was said in the game-thread, you simply have got to beat the teams you are supposed to beat. If you want to win this division--especially this year--you have got to beat the teams with the worst records in all of baseball. This is an awful team the defending champions lost to today. Don't give me any of that, "but, they won the series, that's all you can ask for" bulls***. Tell that to the Tigers. Ask them to slow down and start settling for series victories without the sweep. Bad.
  14. Cliff pitching in the ninth. Thanks for that. That was nice.
  15. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:41 PM) Look at whats is behind him. You would swing also. Absolutely not. Get him over, get him in. Let's hope the Sox win in a marathon...you have to like their chances.
  16. Dye takes a walk on what, four pitches and Joe swings at pitch #1. Well played.
  17. Cliff looked completely hittable, per usual. Absolutely underwhelming.
  18. Have a day, Cintron. Bajenaru wouldn't have had to jump.
  19. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) Oh yah. A few times. Happens every game where we are down though. You should know that. Ok, fair enough. Now, I know it is the popular thing to do when piling on critics during game-threads--which is one of the chief reasons I avoid these threads--but, there is a difference between criticism and people proclaiming the game as a loss. We need to keep that in mind. I saw criticism of the play on the field today, nothing more.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:27 PM) I hate you. Finish your vegetables and get to your room, mister.
  21. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:25 PM) And it's funny to laugh at all the people who continue to give up and proclaim the game over. That's the best part. Were people doing that? I came in late, so, I may have missed it. But I didn't come across that once in my time in today's thread.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:23 PM) We did. We have already taken this series. Which means we suceeded. I'm calling bulls***, Rock. You know better. None of this schoolyard, homer s***...not from you.
  23. That ball is halfway down to Cleveland by now. MERCY. I will say this, there is no quit in this team. TAPE-MEASURE. Crow.
  24. QUOTE(SnB @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) we've won what? 13 out of our last 15 games? and we're still b****ing, can you say SPOILED? You have to beat the teams you are supposed to beat. You know that. You know better than that. In 2005, the White Sox beat the teams they were supposed to beat. If you want to win this division--especially this year--you have got to beat the teams with the worst records in the league. Period. C'mon, you know better than that.
