Not enough magic tonight, fellas. Go get em' tomorrow with another strong outing, Javy.
-
Mack, huh? This has been DJ's guy all night. If he makes it happen, I'll fall off my chair.
-
Have a night, Joe.

I've said Nelson will be up here by the end of the month and I'm sticking to that. The guy is a proven ML talent and that is more than can be said for at least two of our current relievers. Meanwhile, make it happen on the basepaths, Pablo. This would be something else.

Holy s***. Way to go, Jimmy Jack! C'mon PK, let's steal this.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ May 5, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) Addy, this is not the first time Ozzie has done this crap this year. He keeps using our setup guys in the 9th inning, Matt did his job in the 8th, you go right to him in the 9th, period. This game is Bobby's fault BUT on a whole I'm just tired of Ozzie f***ing around in the 9th. The 9th is Bobby's, the end. No, it's not. Ozzie has never operated that way and he probably never will. Unless you have Mariano Rivera in your bullpen, there is no, "it's Bobby's, the end." Thornton was throwing gas, there was a left-hander in and Bobby has been pitching some serious innings as of late. There was one runner on...one. Bobby didn't get it done tonight, not Ozzie.
-
I haven't read through the Jenks inning here, but, it would appear people are blaming both Ozzie as well? Get out of here. Thornton was throwing gas in the 8th, he was left in to get the left-hander out and he couldn't do it. The ball was then given to the closer and he just blew the save, plain and simple. It happens. Luckily, this was his first blown save of the year. He clearly didn't have it, it happens. Better luck tomorrow.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 5, 2006 -> 06:28 PM) You're a lot more likely to find a bunch of bleeding hearts crying about non-existant rights they say terrorists have than any admission by the Bush Administration that any torture went on there. Also true. Ok, how about this, has there been a single published report coming from the White House admitting torture? That's about all I need.
-
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 5, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) Admission?!? Surely you jest. We. . . do. . . not. . . torture. Yes, Jim, I realize that and I also realize that the White House is blaming the majority of this on aberrant soldiers and a lack of oversight, but, surely this must be some admission of torture somewhere out there. I'm just dying here. I can't find it anywhere.

Writing a piece on the administration's admitting their wrongs at Gitmo. Do any of you have a link to any sort of story or report in which the administration is admitting torture or admitting certain acts that have taken place? I need not allegations, but, actual administration pieces. The quicker the better... It's appreciated.

ESPN AM 1000: Programming Changes
AddisonStSox replied to southsideirish71's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 5, 2006 -> 11:02 AM) Is this related to the fact that the Bulls may not be back at ESPN Radio next year (with the Sox gone of course already), and thus they are putting a very good show in the time slot they normally play in to try and grab listeners? Well, I think that line of thinking may be a bit flawed. The early afternoon slot is far more coveted in terms of ratings while people are out and about at work, lunch, etc. It just comes down to ratings. It has seemed that for awhile now the Silvy and Carm show wasn't doing as well as it once was and in the world of radio it's all about "what have you done for me lately?" Personally, I don't see how this will lead to a boost in ratings. I understand the switch and seeing as the younger crowd Silvy and Carmen play to may be more apt to listening in the evenings, but, putting two new-comers in that slot and expecting them to talk intelligently about Chicago sports seems a bit foolhardy. Chicagoans know their sports and if ESPN thinks they can hand us a national guy and expect him to talk to us on Chicago baseball, for example, I think they are up for a rude awakening. -
QUOTE(3E8 @ May 2, 2006 -> 10:19 AM) AddisonStSox will be quite excited to hear this. Yes, excited is probably the right word. This was a nice little suprise to walk in to. Both Jabroni and I have been calling for Nelson since the 2005 off-season. I'm sure he'll be pleased as well. Make no mistake about it, this guy is still murder on right-handers. I absolutely expect Nelson to be with the big league club by the end of the month. It's been a fun little adventure with our a-baller, but, it is about time the Sox bring up a real major league talent. JimH, the Sox bring him in. This is pretty assuring. Even if Logan proves he belongs with the big club, Nelson is backup plan A-1. His signing with the Cardinals--albeit cut short by that suprise cut--proved he wanted to pitch for a competitor. I'm pretty happy.

AND THATS A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!!&a
AddisonStSox replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 04:23 PM) 7 straight against anaheim, 6 straight IN anaheim. Who'd a thunk it? I was thinking the same thing. They will be contenders in the AL again this year and this just has to be demoralizing. The sweep is huge for momentum and for showing these guys the Sox can win on the West Coast. -

I normally never use these, but, the first sweep since 1992? Hell yes. My record goes to 1-1 -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 12:32 PM) Pods, LF Cintron, 2B Thome, DH PK, 1B Dye, RF Crede, 3B Mack, CF Uribe, SS Widger, C Garland, SP I can handle that. Got get em', fellas. Big outing, Jon. -
In an attempt to go 1-1 on the West Coast swing, I'll try my hand at another game-thread. I'm in complete White Sox mode following that disappointing draft and remembered that this is where my heart is...White Sox baseball. Jon Garland 2-1, 7.30 v. Ervin Santana 2-0 2.96 No Sunday lineup, today, Ozzie. Let's get the sweep and set the tone for future baseball on the West Coast.

Mario Williams to be #1 Pick
AddisonStSox replied to SoxFanForever's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
If this is true, this is going to open up the floodgates for the Bush home controversy. Now, you know you would be hard-pressed to find someone that loves the NFL Draft more than I, but, I just don't think I can handle six months of that house controversy. You think the Favre thing was bad? You think the Roger Clemens thing is maddening? Combine the two and then you'll have this story. -
Mario Williams to be #1 Pick
AddisonStSox replied to SoxFanForever's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
This just doesn't feel right. This might be the biggest farce in the history of the NFL. "So, Reggie, we already have reached an agreement with Mario Williams, are you sure you don't want to re-think that asking price?" -
QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) Not that any others care, but I just HAD to post this. UNC got a commitment today from Mike Paulus. One of the top QB's in the nation, and USC's top QB target after Claussen chose ND. As a big bonus as well, Greg Little, one of the top 5 WR's in the nation and 100 players in the nation is very high on UNC and wanted to be a package with Paulus. "Paulus also made a phone call to Southern Cal head coach Pete Carroll to inform him of the decision. "Coach Carroll was very classy, he said 'You're unbelievable, we wish we could have had you - North Carolina is really lucky because you're going to be very good.'" In addition to finalists UNC and USC, Paulus received more than 30 scholarship offers, which included Tennessee, LSU, Miami and Alabama. And although Signing Day " He opted for UNC over USC? That poor bastard. Is he dyslexic? Is he sure he signed the right sheet?

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 04:22 PM) The BBB report on Lincolnland Express Thanks, Rex. I wonder if that includes yesterday's report. I find some solace in the fact that I am not the first.
