  1. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ May 6, 2010 -> 11:34 PM) If you're not seeing pitches, youre not gonna see him whether you bat 2, 3, or 9. Don't number 2 hitters see the best pitches in a first place? You see good pitches at #2 if Pierre actually gets on base. Beckham has been struggling, no doubt, but he is a guy with so much talent and I think he can work his way out of this slump. If Ozzie thinks a 2 game benching will do it, so be it. He will still put up a solid season.
  2. I just wish Q was DHing instead. If he is battling a sore hammy, why put him in RF? Let Pierre play LF and Jones in RF.
  3. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 3, 2010 -> 05:39 PM) What does it say? Twitter, Fecebook, Myspace, youtube, hulu.com, etc. are blocked in CHINA by the "GREAT FIREWALL." Basically that he will give this team another month and then reevaluate.
  4. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ May 3, 2010 -> 05:37 PM) Maybe. I dunno. http://twitter.com/Cst_Sox One month Nothing new here really. It is about 60 games at that point just like he has said in the past. This is common place for nearly every GM, even the Pirates,Royals, etc, they start dumping off around then too.
  5. QUOTE (letsgoarow @ May 2, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) 'Whats the lineup... and i hope your kidding He is not kidding Kotsay,Beckham,Jones,Konerko,Teahen,Q,AJ,Alexei,Pierre Rios' absensce must be the only reason Pierre is still sniffing the lineup.
  6. Gordon doesn't look right up there, seems to want to pull and get under everything. He need to work on going right back up the middle.
  7. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Apr 26, 2010 -> 12:03 PM) Woo! That's 2 Andruw Joneses! And just short of a Kotsay or Vizquel.
  8. Let's go Gavin, we need a good game out of you tonight.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 10:28 AM) Part of the role of a backup is to give a guy who's struggling an extra day or two off to work on his swing and clear his mind. Yeah you can do this when it is just 1 or 2 guys struggling and they need a breather and the rest of the team is hitting. In times like this, sitting 2 of your better players for Kotsay and Vizquel is just stupid.
  10. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 01:38 PM) I think Rios will be fine. AJ also SHOULD come back to his averages...but he is getting to that age for catchers, you never know when you're in your 30's. What is required for Quentin and Ramirez to be as good as they were in 2008. And for Pierre and Beckham to wake up, too. Almost everything has to go right, as we said before the season. But who on this team is capable of putting up Quentin May-August 2008 numbers? There's only Carlos himself, Beckham and Andruw Jones that fit into that category. Nearly every player comes back to his averages after a slow start. Rare cases happen sure, like Andruw Jones in 08, but seriously, almost all of these guys will hit. Patience is a virtue, you seem to lack it.
  11. Home from the game. Thanks against to Pants for the ticket. Very, very cool gesture and I will have to pay it forward in the future somehow. Unfortunately in my 26 years of going to games in person, this was by far and away the worst performance I have ever seen. I know hitting comes in hot and cold streaks, but this cold streak for nearly every batter is getting painful to watch firsthand. Very few guys are making solid contact, which makes it even tougher to swallow. JP had 2 hits which were very JP style, so hopefully he is coming around. Alex Rios seemed to have alot of good AB's. Everyone else is just scuffling so bad, but they will all come around, that's what's great about baseball. Going alone was fine, I was able to chat with a guy around me, he asked me if the Andruw Jones was the Braves Andruw Jones. LOL. To anyone going to the game alone, do it. It was fine and as long as you are seated near some fellow Sox fans who are into the game, it will be fun.
  12. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) I split a full season ticket package with a handful of people. The guy who has tonight's game might not be able to go. If the ticket is available, it's yours and you can just pay for parking on your own. Better yet, depending where you live, just park near a red or green line stop that is just one or two stops from the park. Parking is much cheaper and getting out of Chinatown or museum campus area can be easier than Sox park. I sent him an email and will let you know what I hear. Thanks man, much appreciated.
  13. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 02:20 PM) Can't you take the train or bus? I'm actually in the south burbs now, so I'll have to drive in.
  14. Thanks for all the support guys. I think I will go. Now if I can just score a parking pass for less than $23 bucks.
  15. QUOTE (Sox72 @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 12:49 PM) I was supposed to meet people for a double header two years ago and they never showed. The first game was fun, but as I slowly got drunk in the sun and realized I was alone for 7 hours I began to feel a little depressed. You are never alone when you have beer.
  16. I don't really want to start another thread...should I buy a good seat on StubHub or buy a decent seat on TM using a code for half off...basically i spend a few bucks more on TM but I know the Sox are getting more money this way than me buying tixs from someone with extras, thus helping payroll. any opinions?
  17. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Apr 21, 2010 -> 12:13 PM) Yes. I went to games by myself a lot in the late 60's and early 70's and always had a blast. One time I sat practically right next to Harry Caray when he was broadcasting a game from the centerfield bleachers....good times! Go have a great time and for sure as docsox24 said, keep your pants on. With 50 degree game time temp, I will definetly be keeping the pants on. LOL
  18. What is crazy is me having to pay more for parking $23 than for even a great seat on StubHub, about $15.
  19. I really want to go to the game tonight, but I have no one to go with. Has anyone ever gone by themselves? Is this socially acceptable?
  20. The team looks like they have been playing with so much pressure. Maybe they shoulda get a 25 man hooka and relax man.
  21. QUOTE (hi8is @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 09:25 PM) typical nothing doing fluff fodder piece by a writer who gets paid to write about something when nothing is happening. LOL What else should they write? AJ is certainly someone to be dealt at the deadline if the Sox are out of it.
  22. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 19, 2010 -> 08:03 AM) What the White Sox actually did right... Brandon McCarthy, 17th round, 2002, $40,000 signing bonus Chris B. Young, OF, 16th round, 2001 Aaron Rowand, 1998, 1st round (35th overall), $575,000 Joe Crede, 1996, 5th round Mark Buehrle, 1998, 38th round, $150,000 signing bonus Ryan Sweeney, 2003, 2nd round/52nd pick, $785,000 Jeremy Reed, 2002, 2nd round/59th pick, $650,000 Brandon Allen, 2004, 5th round Chris Getz, 2005, 4th round, $225,000 signing bonus Gio Gonzalez, 2004, 1st round, 38th pick, $850,000 Anthony Carter, 2005, 26th round Daniel Hudson, 2008, 5th round, $180,000 Clayton Richard, 2005, 8th round, $78,000 Jon Rauch, 1999, 3rd round/99th pick...would go on to become the #1 prospect in baseball before the torn labrum and surgery Dexter Carter, 2008, 13th round Trayce Thompson, 2009 And, of course, Beckham and Andrew Mitchell, who I will never fault KW even if he never makes it back from his injury, it was a great "upside" pick. Half of this list is garbage or unproven. You really can't say a pick we made in 2009 was a good move when he is 2-3 years away from the majors. As for the guys who helped us land Freddy, Peavy, Swisher, Danks etc, they have all been below average major leaguers to this point. We have just drafted horribly from the mid 90's until now. Beckham, Buehrle, Crede, Rowand, Rauch and perhaps Chris Young are the only guys to have been at least average MLB'ers at this point. That is a pretty crappy list.
  23. If PK comes back, it will be for about half of his current total. Even at $6 mil, some would question his value considering his age/decline and at that price considering all the other options available through trade and next year's free agency. I just don't see the Sox giving AGon $100+mil. Seems like bringing PK back at the reduced price and bringing in Adam LaRoche next year for around $6mil would fill two holes for the same money we are currently paying PK as most of us feel Viciedo probably won't be ready.
  24. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 16, 2010 -> 12:29 PM) Freddy's velocity was really bad yesterday, he was only around 87 and never got it up above 90. But if he keeps throwing around 90-92 like he did against the Twins, he should be ok. I don't know what it is, but it appears that our pitchers are losing velocity up there in Toronto. Must be all the Molson Ice.
  25. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Apr 15, 2010 -> 11:37 PM) First, this isn't a thread meant to bash Freddy because I'm up for giving him a couple more starts. But how long do we think that he stays in as the #5 guy in our rotation. How many bad starts? How much does he have to lose off of his fastball? This is what a 5th starter does. Serviceable for one start, bad for another. He would need to have about 4 more bad outings like tonight for him to be pulled I would think.
