  1. QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 03:50 AM) Lawton just galloped up to the Mariners GM, took a carrot out of the GMs hand and clopped out how much $$ he wanted. It was an easy transaction. He also gets a sugar cube for every run scored!
  2. I thought it was funny that on the Dan Patrick show today,CNBC boy said the Yanks are better then the WS because Javier Vasquez is a bad Playoff pitcher and we lost El Duque. Well with this rotation,JV will not be a starter for us in the playoff.Just like Duque was not. I also think Damon should bat 2nd. Jeter is the best leadoff hitter in MLB.
  3. 3 years huh. Cud fans are already pissed off because, they think they were going to get C.Lee next year. When you see moves like this it makes you appreicate KW!!
  4. I dont like how Xbox charges you to be on line. I also like the ps2 controller better.
  5. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Nope, he threw it to the mound.
  6. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 09:25 PM) Thanks, maybe that's why I wrote a disclaimer to start the thread out. I can't see the Astros trading away two of their better pitching prospects. I'm sure they are intrested in Jon though.
  7. If it smells like Villone, leave in alone!!!
  8. Thank god! I can't imagine listening to a Sox game, and they losing and North is doing the radio. Talk about road rage!!!
  9. The big thing here is Ozzie. I'm sure it a lot easier to play for a manager that you can talk too! I have a feeling Oz will be the difference in years to come.
  10. Javier Vazquez Chicago Projection The White Sox picked up a solid starting pitcher in Javier Vazquez. What can he provide in '06? Vazquez had the misfortune of pitching at Chase Field in 2005, which is definitely a hitter's park. His new home, U.S. Cellular, is something of a home run haven. As we did with Josh Beckett, let's start with a baseline park-neutral projection and then factor some things in. IP H ER HR BB SO ERA W WHIP 219 207 96 32 55 194 3.95 13 1.20 I don't think you can blame Vazquez's recent gopheritis entirely on Chase Field or his Bronx Breakdown. Vazquez has always been around the plate, and he can't get away with it as much anymore. My first step was to tack some more runs and hits and a few less walks and Ks onto the totals to adjust for a move to the American League. After that, I adjusted for U.S. Cellular Field. Chase Field inflated HRs by 13%, but U.S. Cellular will boost them by 35%. I came up with 38 HR allowed in 219 innings pitched. Has a pitcher ever succeeded with that kind of home run rate? Sure - Brad Radke, Greg Maddux, Jon Lieber, and even Mark Prior are prone to the longball sometimes. You're probably not going to have an ERA much under 4, but you can do alright. Often the pitchers susceptible to home runs are always around the plate and have weak strikeout rates, but Vazquez is the rare pitcher who doesn't walk many, gives up lots of homers, and strikes people out. It helps limits the damage of the dingers. There are some more adjustments to be made, however. While I can't measure the possible positive effects of pitching coach Don Cooper, I do know that the White Sox defense should save some runs for Vazquez. He'll go from pitching in front of the 13th ranked defense in the NL to one of the best in the AL, even without Aaron Rowand. Plus, the solid Sox bullpen should be good for at least a couple of wins. Here's the final projection: IP H ER HR BB SO ERA W WHIP 219 203 98 38 51 184 4.03 16 1.16 Vazquez is a decent bet in fantasy baseball. Solid WHIP, plenty of Ks. Who knows, maybe Don Cooper shows him the same home run reducing trick he showed Jon Garland this year. If Vazquez finds a way to keep the HRs allowed under 25, he could slash his ERA down to 3.50. 16 wins! I'll take it!
  11. Do the O's have any ss prospects in thier org? If so why not move crede in a package and Uribe to 3rd. We wont need Crede's HR's and Uribe can more than handle 3rd.
  12. QUOTE(knightni @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 04:04 AM) You guys are weird. You made my sig, whats that say about you!
  13. What about a polish? What if I want to buy my friend a polish! Man,the WS need to get on the ball!!! Its all about the polish......and the nachos.......and the beer......
  14. White Sox selected infielder Tim Hummel from the Cardinals in the Triple-A phase of the Rule 5 draft. Hummel is returning to his original organization. A pretty good prospect a few years ago, Hummel just never really progressed after age 24. He's 27 now and unlikely to have a career as a utilityman. Dec. 8 - 5:55 pm et
  15. I could buy a Phills Thome jersey for 30 bucks. Then I could take it to Triple threat sports and ask them to make it a Rowand jersey.
  16. Baseball Rocco's deal too like Crawford's for Carl By MARC TOPKIN, Times Staff Writer Published December 5, 2005 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DALLAS - The soreness in his left wrist has disappeared and the painful memories of last season are just about gone, but Carl Crawford still sounded a little hurt Sunday. Crawford, who confirmed he has agreed to play for the U.S. team in the upcoming World Baseball Classic, said the Devil Rays' decision to sign Rocco Baldelli, who missed the 2005 season with injuries, to a long-term deal similar to his left him shocked, confused and eager for his next contract. "I'm happy we signed Rocco because we need him, but it's just a little weird," Crawford said from his Phoenix-area home. "A situation like that always raises eyebrows. I'm not going to sit here and say I'm upset, and I'm not going to sit here and say it's something I like to see. What I will say is that I understand that it is the way it is. ... I don't want to say much, but I was a little surprised, a little shocked." Both outfielders signed six-year deals for around $32-million, though there are significant differences. Crawford gave the Rays options on his first two years of free agency and Baldelli gave up three years, and Crawford gets more guaranteed money, $15.25-million to $9-million. Still, they apparently are similar enough that Crawford is already looking forward to his next deal, even though this one can run through 2010. "It's a little different than the way my contract is, but whenever I can be a free agent again, I know how I'll handle things," he said. "Don't think I'm not looking forward to being a free agent again." He also said he wondered how it would have worked out if he had been the one injured. "I'm not too sure if what happened (to Baldelli) had happened to me, if it would have been handled the same way," he said. "I'm just happy to see the organization be generous like that. I hope if I'm injured and out for a year that I get the same kind of treatment." Crawford said there is no longer pain in his wrist, which sidelined him for the final five games of the season, though he has yet to test it by swinging a bat. "Just being cautious," he said. He said he likes what he has seen from the team's new administration, especially the hiring of Steve Henderson as hitting coach. "I'm actually looking forward to spring training already," he said. And he said he signed paperwork that committed him to playing in the inaugural Classic in March, but he hasn't heard if he has been chosen for the U.S. team. Details will be announced today. "It should be a big deal," he said.
  17. Saw this on MLB trade rumors. Carl Crawford On The Block? A source close to the Devil Rays' scouting department filled me in recently on their outfielder extravaganza. It's well known Joey Gathright is on the block. If you're looking for a scrappy player with no power who runs real fast, Gathright is your man. It's unknown whether Gathright can make his on-base skills shown at Triple A Durham translate to the big leagues, but some team besides the Rays will find out soon enough. I'm not yet able to narrow down the list of his suitors to a single digit number. Infinitely more interesting than Gathright is the possibility (albeit slim) that Carl Crawford could be dealt. Crawford was "a little shocked" by Rocco Baldelli's deal, and rightfully so. After all, where was Baldelli while Crawford was busy being the 10th best LF in the game in '05? 2006 could be the year Crawford busts out and hits 20 HR. According to my source, the Angels are hot on the trail of Baldelli, Gathright, and Crawford. The Rays are quite enamored with 22 year-old righthander Ervin Santana. Santana had a solid rookie season in '05, winning 12 games for the Angels. Another team in the running for Crawford is the White Sox. They're not entirely sold on Brian Anderson in center field for a defending World Champion, and the Devil Rays are asking for Brandon McCarthy and/or Josh Fields. McCarthy pitched with a vengeance in September and October of 2005, tossing 43 innings of 1.69 ERA ball. He led the Minor Leagues in strikeouts in 2004. Third baseman Josh Fields is in the Sox's top ten prospect list for sure. However, he was just OK at Double A Birmingham in '05, hitting .252/.341/.409 in 477 at-bats. Fields is a hard worker, but still needs plenty of seasoning in the minors.
  18. QUOTE(timotime @ Dec 4, 2005 -> 09:48 AM) i feel ya. i also take great pleasure in the suffering of cubs fans. hendry really f***ed it up this offseason by making no moves that are worth a damn. i am looking forward to another sox world series championship paired with a total self-destruction effort by the cubs. They did need bullpen, help and they got that. They also need a leadoff man and a outfielder. Pierre or Damon would fill both of these needs.
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 27, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) How is that guy slow and bad at puck handling?? That was one of the sicker breakaway moves i've ever seen. He is just a stay at home defencemen. I couldnt believe it. Thats what makes it so crazy. He was the second to the last guy on the bench.
  20. It went to the 15th round. It was down to the slow,no puckhandling Defencemen. http://media.putfile.com/Marek-Malik-schools-Olaf-Kolzig
