  1. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 02:21 PM) AVE-34 pts lower at home than on the road SLG-25 pts lower at home than on the road OBP-43 pts lower at home than on the road I was talking about his three year splits. Look at those. 5 point difference in OPS I'll even give you the page ESPN
  2. QUOTE(sircaffey @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 02:11 PM) He also hit .282 with a .344 OBP in 195 ABs against lefties in 2004. Hanks never going to mash lefties, but he will find common ground. In his career he is .227 with a .640 OPS against lefties, and thats even with his inflated home numbers. He is a platoon player. You can't bat him against lefties. Now if he has come up in your system, and you are paying him nothing, he'd be okay to have, but you sure as hell don't go trade Jon Garland for him.
  3. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) He is consistent? Crede goes into slumps for weeks if not for a month or so. He hits 280 for a month, then 125 for the next. I keep forgetting that Arlington is such a hitters paridise and the Cell is a hitters hell. haha. I'm just going to save you the trouble and assume you didn't even read my post. You saw "consistent" and decided to type something. I said he was "consistent" between home and away. Which he was. I didn't say he say he was consistent from month to month. Over the course of the entire season he was virtually the same at home on the road. And further, I didn't say Cell was a bad park to hit in. I said you don't know what he'll do here. But you DO know what he'll do on the road because he's done it in his entire career. But don't even bother to comprehend the post. Just spout off. Works much better.
  4. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 01:37 PM) Sorry, my point was that they both do. But at least Crede is consistently medicore. Blalock is one of the worst players in the league on the road and solid at home. But thats assuming that those numbers will translate here. Which you can't assume. It is a known quantity what he will do on the road. You can't expect him to keep up at the pace that he did at Arlington. He might, but it is not a gaurentee. Creede is mediocre at home and away. Though at the end of last year it was obvious he was taking stpes in the right direction. Blalock on the other hand just sucked all around. Plus, Blalock is basically a platoon player. He is horrilbe against lefties. Under .200 and under .600 OPS last year. Just terrible. Imagine him against Santana, Liriano, Robertson, Lee, Sabathia. UGh. AWFUL.
  5. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 01:08 PM) Defensively, Crede is better. Offensively, Blalock is better. not much either way. Therefore they are even.
  6. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 01:03 PM) He's a better hitter than Crede and while his glove isn't as good as Crede's, it's still pretty damn good. He also has a modest 4-years, $20 million contract. And the Cell isn't an inflated ballpark? At worst Crede and Blalock are even, though, so you are giving up Jon Garland for Wilkerson and a prospect. How bout no.
  7. LOL. I can't believe what I'm reading. I don't understand. How the hell can anyone want Blalock. He is one of the WORST offensive players in the league away from that inflated ballpark. What am I missing?
  8. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) totally, who want want the AL defensive leader at 3B on this team, and who needs a two time all star anyway? God, he's even too old at 25 to even mention this possibility. He has no power, and cant hit anyway!! God!!!! I mean, if the sox ever start playing every game on the road, he would be worthless!! What a horrible idea!!! LOL. Yah, lets just ignore his .196 avg and 583 ops vs lefties. Or the fact that he is LOWER than Crede and Michael freaking Cuddyer in OPS for 3b. 53rd in the AL in qualified OPS ranks. Or the fact that he is pretty much the same as Crede on defense. Why trade Jon Garland and Joe Crede for Joe Crede, when we already have Joe Crede. Or we can just ignore the fact that he had a LOWER FREAKING ROAD OPS THAN SCOTT FREAKING PODSEDNIK in the last three years. But other than that, he's cool. Do you think they'll let him have all of his ABs in the ballpark in Arlington? We can just have ghostrunners up here.
  9. I can't BELIEVE people say they want Blalock here. I think this might be my favorite in regards to Blalock.... Guess who has the higher road OPS (three year splits -- basically their whole career) between Scott Podsednik and Hank Blalock by 38 points. Though I do a disservice to Scott because he IS a leadoff man after all. That's right. You guessed it. None other than Scotty P. Pods - .745 Blalock - .707 Disgusting.
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ Dec 9, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) Shh2005... or jabroni... whatever you rather call him. Was about cotts too i believe. Bah. I should have known. I guess I should have though. He posts every 5 minutes.
  11. I don't think worrying about 3 or 4 mil either way is worth it at this point. I think its obvious that at this point in time, the Sox are not held by the limitations of payroll by a couple million either way. If KW sees someone he likes, he's probably going to go get him. at least for the next 2 or 3 years. If we keep winning it could be even longer than that.

  13. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 04:11 PM) X + Z - R = @#!*&!!! right? left? up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, b, a, select (for 2 player), start? Do I get 30 lives? I'm so confused.
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 04:04 PM) Obviously, you didn't read correctly when I said this year's Toronto team vs the same White Sox team from last year carried over. Man you're a dumbass. So you mean on paper going into the season for 05 Sox and 06 Jays?
  15. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 03:47 PM) Fine Starting Pitching White Sox > Blue Jays Bullpen Blue Jays > White Sox Hitting Blue Jays > White Sox Fielding Blue Jays > White Sox(sox are hot at the corners, but Blue Jays are hot up the middle which saves you more runs) Is this from a few years ago? I'm confused.
  16. I bet thats what happens. KW wants starting depth.
  17. Coop doesn't think anything will go down, nor does 2 of Merkin's sources. They think what I think. Bmac in the bullpen., rest in the rotation.
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 10:04 AM) Buehrle only did that for 1 season. This would be the 2nd season of playing around with BMac between the bullpen, starting at AAA, and starting in the big leagues. I still want Bmac in the rotation. I think he could very well be the best pitcher in that rotation even next year. You may want Bmac in the rotation, but I'm not sure KW does. And he's all that matters. KW knows we got fairly lucky on the injury front last year and I think he loves the idea of having an extra arm in the pen ready to step in if someone has to go on the DL.
  19. QUOTE(ZeroHour @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 09:47 AM) veteran righty=hermy? Yah. I don't know if KW will count on him though. Like he said last night he liikes contingency plans.
  20. Bmac = Bullpen Garland = rotation KW isn't trading either of those. He wants another ring badly. I don't believe KW thinks BMac is ready as a full time starter. The fact that Viz was included in the deal really makes me set in Bmac to the bullpen. I think KW is pretty much done except picking up a couple of bullpen arms to "compete" with our young guys for bullpen spots Burly Contreras Garcia Garland Vazquez Jenks Politte Cotts Bmac (Young lefty) (Veteran righty)
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) If you acquire Dunn, then you can use other assets to acquire pitching. I just don't believe we use two of our biggest assets in Garland and Contreras to acquire a player that not many baseball people believe is ever going to be a superstar again. Oh i know. Like I said below, I don't want Vazquez, especially not for those two. But I wouldn't take another hitter either. I'd demand a really good pitcher.
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) A lot of people on here know that I feel that if the Sox do trade Garland or Contreras, they should talk to the Reds about seeing what type of package involving them that would take to acquire Adam Dunn. Getting Vazquez just makes no sense at all, as he'll make more money than Garland would in the first year of whatever Garland's new deal would be. Ack. There goes our agreement. We don't need anymore hitting. Pitching, pitching pitching, especially if we are trading away JC or JG.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 08:43 AM) My biggest problem is this: Vazquez just isn't that good. If you're going to trade Garland or Contreras, you should be able to get a solid player, as well as a big prospect. A big market team like the Yankees would give anything to get someone like Garland. But to trade them for the high-priced underachiever wouldn't be a good trade at all. Holy crap we agree on something.
  24. So we would be trading for a guy who is not better than either of the options going out, JUST so we'd be gaurenteed an extra year with him? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Having Vazquez gaurenteed for 06-07 doesn't make up for the drop from JG or JC to JV for 2006 when we should be good enough to win another series. Maybe if Vazquez was locked up for a reasonable amount of time, thats something you'd think about, but you are only getting 1 extra year for right around 10 mil in that year. I would think that it would have to be Vazquez + a decent player for JG or JC. That might sway it.
  25. If we trade Contreras I will be irate.
