  1. Well. Here's to hoping they hit it right at somebody.
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) Some real good AB's by Gooch tonight, despite him not getting the bunt down. Not to mention he's our only scoring. STEAL. Please. His move is SLOWWWWW
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) Good idea, but Mr. 12-29 stealing in his Sox career scares me. He should be able to get a great jump on EMbree. It'd be a risk, but not a bad risk at this point. I don't forsee a base hit to get anyone in.
  4. I wouldn't mind a hit and run double steal or straight up double steal.
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) No, he wasn't being sarcastic. I had a feeling he wasn't. Uh. Yes I was. I was just making fun of the people who say Jose sucks after every mediocre to bad outing. He's been one of the rocks for us of late. Boston. Toronto. NYY. Incredibly pitched games when we needed them. All coming off of losses.
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 07:22 PM) What the hell are you talking about? Well obviously I think he should have a no hitter. And I'm furious that he doesn't.
  7. Jose sucks. He should have a no hitter at this point. Unreal. Just incredible. Makes me real mad.
  8. Terrible AB by Aaron. He was trying to walk him.
  9. QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) Timo I take s***s that put together better AB's than you He ran the count full in his first two ABs. Really worked him well. Still didn't do well in the end though. Just like everybody else.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) Down to a smooth .125 batting average this month for Crede now. You could say that for pretty much the entire team except for aaron and paulie.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) One of our biggest problems on offense lately has been taking too many called 3rd strikes. Pods has to lead the world in called 3rd strikes. What would help this offense is to learn to fight off the tough pitches for fouls, and capitalize on the get-me-overs. We have six in the last 3 games. 4 by Pods. So it's a Pods problem. Not a team problem. The rest of them need to try and take a walk sometime.
  12. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Aug 9, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) LOL, and then when it's a strike 'em out throw 'em out there would be b****ing about taking too close of a pitch. Probably. But not from me. I'd love to see some more called 3rd strikes. Means we are trying to take some walks.
  13. He was out. Dammit take a pitch. Let him call you out.
  14. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Well, give me a break. El Duque's been known as a slow starter this season, and you guys jump all over his f***ing ass when he gives up a two run homer to -- Alex f***ing Rodriguez. The best thirdbaseman in possibly all of baseball, and you guys b****. It's tiring. And, like I said, Milkman's comment about the Yankees not regretting signing Hernandez was the dumbest thing I've read on here in a while, and that's saying a lot.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) Well, when it's in the first two innings, what the f*** do you expect people to say? Do you only post when the Sox are losing to attack others who might say something bad? You hardly posted one f***ing thing the last two games. I know people like myself and Milkman are pessmistic....but at least we're consistent in posting in every game, no matter what the score is. I expect you to blow up and whine with no perspective of whats going on. The last time I checked, a game didn't last 2 innings and neither did an outing. Have some faith. Quit whining.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) He still put us in a 3 run hole early in the game. If Garland did that, the Judy comments would be flying. It's not just this game which makes people feel like Duque's not a playoff pitcher....it's the 4.69 ERA with a 1.50 WHIP. I agree. Heaven forbid a pitcher give up 3 ER in Yankee Stadium against the Yanks. Terrible, terrible stuff.
  17. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 07:28 PM) I wouldn't say he sucks, but he did put us in an early hole, and thanks to Aaron it would have been worse. He had a quality start agianst the yanks in Yankee Stadium. Enough said.
  18. Great game El Duque. But you still suck. You're not a playoff pitcher anymore. blah blah blah blah blah. Whoops. Spoke too soon. Still in there.
  19. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 06:01 PM) Congratulations! You've earned the 'Stupidest Post of the Gamethread Award'! Yeah, the Yanks are really glad that they don't have El Duque for $4 million and his 4.70 ERA. Rather, they have have guys like Carl Pavano for ten million (4.77 ERA, 17 starts) and Jaret Wright for seven million (9.15 ERA in four starts). Don't take this personally, but you're a dumbass. LOL. We don't usually agree, but this time
  20. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 05:54 PM) You should check his Postseason ERA from last year. Mr. October is a thing of previous Octobers. The man is pushing the old age home. He gave up 3 runs in the 5 innings against an awesome Boston offense on the road and would have had the win if Rivera didn't blow the save. This is also when he was hurt. He has a 2.63 postseason ERA in his career.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 05:50 PM) No, but going through the motions for the last two months of the season is a recipe for disaster. A perfect example is our last playoff team. Oh yah. If we play like crap for the next two months it certainly doesn't raise the playoff hopes. Wouldn't be a good thing to go into the postseason losing a bunch. But that doesn't make this a big game for El Duque because of that. I guarentee he isn't thinking about anything like that. He turns into a different monster in the postseason. Does it suck that he thinks liek that during the regular season? Sure. But that's the way it is.
  22. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) Going into the playoffs confident you can win because you beat them before isn't really a bad thing. It's certainly not a bad thing, but I seriously doubt the players worry about what they do in the postseason that much. If they did, none of this would matter because we would get crushed by the A's.
  23. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 8, 2005 -> 05:48 PM) Teams have blown double digit leads before in August. There's absolutely no guarantees in sports. We're not that dominant of a team that we can just play like crap every game, and play .500 baseball. Our schedule is very difficult, and even though it's unlikely....it's possible that we could play .333 ball for an extended period. 2 teams have lost 9 run leads or greater after the All-star break. It was the Giants, and somebody else. I can't remember.
