  1. A hit with RISP?!? Who knew you could do that.
  2. Man. This offense is just miserable. Imagine if we were actually facing good pitchers.
  3. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 25, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) Let's see what we do in Texas next week. Haha. THat's exactly what I was thinking. Holy smokes our offense is bad.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2010 -> 09:11 PM) I was thinking earlier that I would love to have him be our DH next year also. I dont think we're going to be able to sign him if he keeps this up. I don't think we'll be buying next year anyway. Still, good for Andruw!
  5. I think We're going to be able to get something really nice for Andruw in July! Keep it up!
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 10:05 PM) Does it really matter anymore? That's like putting a band aid on a flesh wound. Yah I guess that's true. Man this sucks. How much does Miguel Cabrera make? Now there is a guy that is earning his salary.
  7. Johnny Damon hitting .321. Shame we didnt have the money for him.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 09:42 PM) Ugh, wasting an inning with Santos and Thornton tonight. Haha. Let's be honest. It doesn't really matter.
  9. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 02:22 PM) Coop's greatest talent is being a pitching coach. I think it would be easier to replace a manager than a pitching coach. Stone has no desire to move beyond the booth. The Sox tried that before and it was a bad, bad, idea. KW should be allowed to have a bad season like this once in awhile. The problem is that KW's f*** ups are going to hurt us for several years, not just this year. We have almost 30 million wrapped up in 2 average players for the next 3 years. It's going to be hard to build around those two.
  10. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 09:01 PM) In the third week of April? I don't know. I haven't bothered looking, as it doesn't matter this time of year. Keep telling yourself that it doesn't matter.
  11. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:57 PM) I'll be sure to let guys like Josh Beckett, John Lackey, Jason Verlander, and Chad Billingsley know of yer acute, small sample size, assessment of things. How are all those teams doing?
  12. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:55 PM) Barry Zito comes to mind. Jason Schmidt. There have been a ton of "aces" with big contracts that have gone south (big-time) on those clubs. Heck, probably 60-75% of those pitchers with $50 million plus contracts, Hampton comes to mind right away, Kevin Brown, Darren Dreifort, Chan Ho Park, etc. Oh it definitely CAN happen. It's happening right now.
  13. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:53 PM) I would agree with you. This guy is the type of pitcher who can reel off a 8-10 game win streak when he is back on It's easy to pitch well when you are 15 games back. We needed Peavy to pitch well early this season when our offense is struggling.
  14. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:51 PM) And is b****ing about it all day going to change anything? No. He is not starting the year very well. Ok. Great. He has 30+ more starts to change that. If anyone here is seriously suggesting Clayton F'ing Richard over Peavy, then they need to seriously reconsidering following baseball. I'd surely take Richard and that 16 million back to get us some decent players on offense.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:50 PM) There is actually another one here in Chicago Does big Z make that much money? I didn't know that. Ah well, they are f***ed like we are.
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:47 PM) My point exactly. This place is filled with crazy hysteria over Peavy just because he is slumping right now. "Aces" who are paid 16 million dollars cannot slump for 4 starts in teh beginning of a season.
  17. GUYS GUYS. ITS EARLY. SETTLE DOWN. There are plenty of 16 million dollar pitchers with a 7+ ERA a month in.
  18. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:35 PM) Oh he's not? I must be mixing him up with the former Padre's pitcher who won the Cy Young in 2007, and has been very, very solid over his career. He used to be an Ace. Sure. He isn't anymore.
  19. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:32 PM) My bad for not flipping s*** about our former Cy Young pitcher, and one of the aces of the league having a rough start to the season. 4 starts down, 30+ to go. I'm not going to freak out and start wishing we never traded for him or say he is awful and can't pitch in the AL. Call me levelheaded I guess. He is not an ace.
  20. QUOTE (mmmmmbeeer @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:30 PM) Jake's velocity is up, he's thrown some nasty sliders....he just doesn't have his command tonight. It looks much less like nibbling to me than just not having a feel for the ball. A guy doesn't put up the numbers he has over the course of his career by nibbling, he busts out dominant stuff. If his stuff is inconsistent, as it is tonight, he's going to struggle. I can't believe y'all are so dismissive of a guy with a hell of a track record. What I'm seeing tonight has absolutely nothing to do with what league he's in, an injury, or confidence...he simply has not found his groove yet. Toronto was obviously his post-spring dead arm period and now he's working on getting everything back in synch. We're not paying this guy 16 million dollars, and gave up good players, to wait a month for him to figure it the f*** out.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 22, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) And Clayton Richard, with prospects to use to acquire other talent. Don't make me start crying.
  22. I can't believe we're paying him 16 million. We could have Hudson, Matsui and Damon for that.
