  1. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 09:58 PM) On the year he's 1-4, R, BB. And a hit by pitch in the head
  2. Yes Edmonds sacked it up and finally played.. He shoulda been put on the DL but looks like it may work out but may not.. he still scares me when he runs.. Carpenter should be back on Tuesday.. so really Pujols will be on the DL only unless something happens.. still gonna be tough! Taguchi, Rolen, Edmonds, and Encarnacion really stepped it up today.. they are gonna have to keep it up..
  3. 06/03/2006 9:12 PM ET Pujols out with strained right oblique Cardinals slugger likely heading to disabled list By Matthew Leach / MLB.com ST. LOUIS -- They've weathered one injury after another the past season and a half, but the Cardinals have never had to do without Albert Pujols for more than a few days. That's almost certainly about to change. Pujols was removed from the Cardinals' game on Saturday against the Cubs due to a strained right oblique muscle, and it's unclear when he will be able to return. He will almost certainly be placed on the disabled list for the first time in his career, if not Sunday, then no later than Tuesday. "There is serious concern," said Dr. George Paletta, "and it is the type of injury that we need to evaluate initially and again 18-24 hours later to get a better handle on it." "He's going to miss a significant period of time," said manager Tony La Russa. "Anywhere from little significant to real significant. We can't tell for another 18-24 [hours]. But it's something we've got to deal with." [More in URL]
  4. La Russa on Pujols (post-game) It'll be at least two weeks for AP. And that's optimistic. Actually, La Russa told us that he'd be happy if it's only two weeks. "If he's out (only) two weeks I'll buy you dinner the rest of the year," La Russa said. "I don't think, listening to Dr. Paletta, that in two weeks Albert will be able to go." Pujols left the stadium early. --B [Here]
  5. Timo has already paid off.. PH.. Let his head get hit on what was literally a heads up play.. scores the tying run..
  6. Timo Perez has been called up for the Cards.. woo boy, lol
  7. But he's still a good hitter.. there are reasons they dont pitch around him.. For May: Hitting for Pujols: 1. Eckstein - .353 AVG, 0 HR, 8 RBI 2. Rodriguez - .321 AVG, 0 HR, 4 RBI 3. Pujols - .286 AVG, 11 HR, 32 RBI 4. Rolen - .316 AVG, 2 HR, 13 RBI 5. Edmonds - .271 AVG, 1 HR, 10 RBI (still hitting bad on the year but driving in runs, he's hurt now!) 6. Encarnacion - .275 AVG, 4 HR, 16 RBI (2nd best hitter on team in May) 7. Molina - .200 AVG, 0 HR, 8 RBI 8. Miles - .319 AVG, 0 HR, 1 RBI Then agan you wanna face anyone besides Pujols even if Rolen or a declining Edmonds can still make you pay.. rather have them beat ya then the MVP of last year and this year so far..
  8. QUOTE(CardsJimEdmonds15 @ May 24, 2006 -> 05:44 PM) Can someone tell me the last time a team has had 3 different pitchers with extra base hits in a game? Top 3rd: St. Louis - J. Marquis hit for B. Thompson - J. Marquis tripled to deep right center Top 5th: St. Louis - A. Wainwright homered to deep left Top 9th: St. Louis - B. Looper doubled to deep right (I'm trying to find this out but I'm not have any success!) First time since 1969 a team has had 3 pitchers record 3 different hits in the same game on the same team.. of course ESPNEWS also doesnt give me the answer I'm looking for with extra base hits.. at least I figured that out!

  11. Rare Bird Sighting: Ozzie Smith By Rick Hummel ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH 05/21/2006 In the 10 years since his retirement, Ozzie Smith has been only a distant Cardinal, and says he'll remain that way until team management changes. Smith said he hadn't felt he belonged with the Cardinals since his last year with them coincided with manager Tony La Russa's first year as manager. "I think everybody knows that I didn't fit in," Smith said. "And when you don't fit in . . . that's one of the reasons why I kind of backed off (of doing on-field work with the Cardinals). I won't do anything as long as the current management is in place." [More in URL] Tony La Russa on Ozzie Smith: 'He's not welcome' By Rick Hummel ST. LOUIS POST-DISPATCH 05/21/2006 Cardinals manager Tony La Russa, after reading a story in Sunday's Post-Dispatch that, in part, reiterated Hall of Famer Ozzie Smith's disinclination to participate in club-related field activities as long as La Russa was manager, said he had changed his mind about inviting Smith to spring-training camp as an instructor. La Russa, before reading the text, had said he didn't think they would be going to dinner, given their past differences, but that Smith could be helpful if he wanted to join the other Hall of Famers who generally go to Jupiter, Fla., in the spring. Upon further review, there was a stark reversal of field Sunday by La Russa, who was not proffering an olive branch. "Speaking personally, I don't think he would be good for our ballclub," said La Russa, who sought out the Post-Dispatch before the game. "For him to repeat those comments is really unreasonable. That invitation is no longer there. "He's not welcome." [More in URL] What a damn joke this is becoming.. the two are acting like little kids.. Really sad.. :rolly

  17. Trust me he's been hearing things thrown at him from every way possible as of right now since of the pace he's on, etc. I actually took this: "He said Wednesday that he had watched Bonds' television program on ESPN and that it is "really sad the life that he is living." Pujols went on to say he never wants "to live that life like that. If I had to live a life like that better to quit this game because that's not what it is all about."" http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/st...C2?OpenDocument I didnt nec see the praising Bonds.. really..
  18. Gosh.. he's good.. another RBI single.. 47th RBI.. he's 3/3 on the night with 3 rbi's in the first 4 innings..
  19. In other news.. Pujols just hit his 19th HR and now has 46 RBI's..
  20. No idea.. it's blacked out here on ESPN too.. maybe cuz I get FSMW?
