Cards bring back Spiezio for 2 years
CardsJimEdmonds15 replied to CardsJimEdmonds15's topic in The Diamond Club
ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Scott Spiezio and the St. Louis Cardinals agreed to a $4.5 million, two-year contract on Thursday, keeping one of the team's top reserves with the World Series champions. (Seems fine with me) -
Cardinals re-sign IF-OF Spiezio to two-year deal November 16, 2006 ST. LOUIS (Ticker) - The St. Louis Cardinals were not about to let their most versatile player get away. Scott Spiezio, a switch hitter who played five different positions last season, signed a two-year contract with the defending World Series champions on Thursday. Financial terms of the deal, which includes a club option for 2009, were not disclosed. In the postseason, Spiezio added six RBI, including a game-tying two-run triple in Game Two of the National League Championship Series against the New York Mets. "You hear the term winning player and that's what Scott is," Cardinals general manager Walt Jocketty said. "Scott showed once again why he has been tabbed with such a label. Scott's leadership, versatility and production in the clutch are such strong qualities." [More in URL] Good stuff

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 26, 2006 -> 11:43 PM) I'll just say the best team wins over 162, which is why the best 8 get to October, but the best team often times doesn't win in a best of 5 or 7 series, which is why the best team doesn't always (or even usually) survive October. Thus is how a 116 win Mariner team doesn't win the pennant, but an 83 win Cardinal team (probably) wins it all. Yea and even the 2004 and 2005 team Cards were better than this team IMHO.. maybe someone is smiling down on us.. an OK team has a chance to win a WS whereas those other two teams couldnt? That 2004 team was one of the best I've ever seen in my life as a Cards fan (I'm only 21) and they couldnt do it! But this team may? It doesnt make sense really!

Never in my lifetime did I think we are ONE WIN AWAY FROM A FLIPPIN CHAMPIONSHIP.. OMG!! IM SO EXCITED AND PUMPED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Damn.. there goes the ballgame already and we just awoke their bats.. grrr
-
Whatever happens happens but getting Game 4 would be lovely..
-
And I appreciated my team not giving up in the 9th until that last out.. even if they didnt win!
-
I have nothing to say on this.. Rogers said it was a clump of dirt.. Ha.. Either way the man shut us down.. that's all that's to be said.. wether he shoulda or not been pitching after the first..
-
I'm just glad despite all the struggles our team is back in the World Series.. of course we dont stand a chance but I'll take that chance.. We didnt stand a chance of making the playoffs.. made em.. didnt stand a chance to beat the Padres.. beat em.. didnt stand a chance against the Mets.. beat em.. dont stand a chance against the Tigers? We'll see what happens.. Honestly I just want my team to show up in the WS this year and get a couple wins at that.. a WS title would be amazing though.. the chances of that happening arent great but who knows? That's why they play the games!

Been a tough road, a tough season, but sorta fun.. I'm not happy with the year they had but ya never know.. anything can happen in the playoffs!

Belliard to Cardinals for Luna

Thanks for the comments.. I'm alright with the trade I suppose.. if any of you have any more comments on Ronnie I'd like to see em (good or bad) -
Trade is official.. Unimpressed honestly.. Loved Luna myself.. He shoulda been our everyday 2B, but we went with that bum AAron Miles.. If anything this does improve our 2B position and offense but the most important part to this.. Miles shouldnt be out there everyday.. Thanks for that much Hector!
