  1. Would you rather have this guy for $8.5 million next year? If B-Mac is lights out in Charlotte this season and again in 2006 Spring Training, then by all means trade Contreras. I would definately trade him for Adrian Gonzalez or Ryan Howard and if Contreras pitches the way he is currently over the entire season, I think those two teams might be willing to make those deals as well. The Rangers are especially desperate for a quality starting pitcher with good stuff, hence why they were interested in Carrie Woods. For God's sakes, they have Pedro Astacio and Chan Ho Park in their starting rotation. With Mark Teixeira at 1st base, I don't see why they wouldn't want to trade Adrian Gonzalez for a starting pitcher.
  2. Why? The article even says that Ozuna was available to play but Ozzie decided to let him get 100% healthy first. It's nice that our players can get healthy during a 5-game winning streak.
  3. My first post was from Yahoo! Sports. :finger

  5. AJ is the man... "Contreras quickens his pace in victory Early strikes help right-hander limit pitch count" 69 of Contreras' 102 pitches were for strikes. That's pretty damn impressive from Jose.
  6. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/recap;_ylc=X3o...0505104&prov=ap Keys to Contreras' success: 1.) Work quicker a la Buehrle. 2.) Challenge hitters by throwing strikes. Your stuff is good so trust it. 3.) Don't get flustered with men on base.
  7. That's because ESPN caters to the Yankees, Red Sox, and Flubs. Isn't it funny how 2 out of 3 of those teams are sucking and they still get more coverage than the White Sox? :headshake
  8. Say what? Lead changes and blown saves are just a part of the game. No team is perfect.
  9. They love talking about the Orioles because they have guys like Sham-Me Sosa, Miguel Tejada, Rafael Palmeiro, Brian Roberts, Javy Lopez, and Melvin Mora. ESPN loves the offense.
  10. Indeed. Also, it's quite obvious that we need to keep AJ for as long as possible. I think a lot of Contreras' success has to do with AJ's game-calling skills. He keeps Contreras' head in the game.
  11. More of this please... "Chicago White Sox closer Shingo Takatsu, right, is all smiles as he celebrates with teammate A.J. Pierzynski, left, after getting the save in the White Sox's 5-4 win over the Kansas City Royals Tuesday, May 3, 2005 in Chicago."
  12. Ummm, Contreras is under contract for 2006 and we will only be paying him around $6 million. With the way Contreras can pitch when he actually goes after batters and the ridiculously inflated price of quality starting pitchers, Contreras is going nowhere. $6 million is a steal for a pitcher with his stuff, as long as AJ keeps threatening to kick him in the balls if he doesn't hit the plate.
  13. The Yankees just lost their third straight game to the Devil Rays. They are now tied with the D-Rays for last place in the A.L. East. at 11-18.
  14. Ozuna has played 2 games at 3B and has 1 error there. He has played 3 games at SS and has 1 error there. I know it's a small sample size but from what I have seen, Ozuna has looked pretty bad on hard hit shots at him. I'm comfortable with him playing LF and 2B but Ozuna playing SS and especially 3B scares me.
  15. The Royals are headed for another horrible season and Graffanino is in the last year of his contract for them. He is making $1.1 million this season. I would bet that they would dump him for an average prospect in a second considering they have Gotay and Teahen to play 2B and 3B. Is Tony Graffanino going to get the Royals to the playoffs? Hell no. So if they don't trade him, they lose him to free agency and get nothing for him. They would take an average prospect in a second for him.
  16. Yep, and now he's stuck platooning with the likes of Ruben Gotay and Mark Teahen at 2B and 3B so I doubt that he'd mind leaving the horrible Royals for his old team, the 21-7 Sox!
  17. I love Ozuna's bat but I saw enough of him at 3B in Spring Training and this season to know that he is not a good defensive 3rd baseman. If Crede goes down, we have no one who can play solid defense at 3rd base.
  18. I like Ozuna alot, as most of you know, but he looks pretty clueless at 3rd base. He would be a defensive liability there if Crede were to go down for an extended period of time. Also, I doubt Tony G. would have a problem coming back to a team with fans who still love him considering they are winning like crazy even if it's just for a bench role. Right now he's sharing time with Ruben Gotay and Mark Teahen anyways at 2B and 3B. Also, remember that he's playing for the godawful Royals. Anyone would want to get the hell out of there.
  19. I saw this post at the other Sox message board... I myself heard Rooney and Farmer talking about Graffanino but I didn't see the post-game with Melton. Graffanino is earning $1.1 million in the final year of his contract with the Royals this season. Kenny must want a solid backup 3rd baseman. Interesting to say the least.
  20. You seriously think that the Yankees would trade us Derek Jeter for Timo and Willie? Seriously?
  21. You can listen to DJ's call of Tony Graffanino's homer at WhiteSox.com. "UH-OH... that ball way back... and it's not coming back."
  22. Ozzie just brought up the 1983 "Winning Ugly" team in the post-game interview.
  23. It sucks so bad that once Dye seems to be getting out of his slump, Konerko starts to slump massively. We need Frank back in the lineup so these guys start seeing better pitches.
