Pablo Ozuna since he can play SS.

I would assume so as well but I think Cotts' roster spot IS guaranteed because Ozzie seems to have a ton of man-love for him and his mound presence. I agree though, Cotts might be better off in Charlotte learning to become a better starting pitcher.
-
It has been rumored but nothing is certain.
-
Agreed, I think Ozuna has already earned his roster spot. I'm not so sure about Kevin Walker. He has looked good so far but there's just no room for him in the bullpen unless we carry 12 pitchers. These guys are pretty much guaranteed spots... Cotts Hermanson Marte Politte Shingo Vizcaino

Well, since you're 16 I would think your parents do that for you.
-
Who the f*** are you and why are you obsessed with me? Do you like 25 year old men or something?
-
A platoon of Crede and Mackowiak at 3B WOULD be an upgrade. Let Crede face lefties and Mackowiak face righties. Mackowiak would also give us a ridiculous amount of defense and speed off the bench, as well as a pretty good pinch-hitter.
-
He's not great but he's far from worthless. Inferring that any player fighting for playing time on a 90-loss team sucks is simply retarded.
-
Fine, let's look at career stats... Rob Mackowiak .252 career AVG .325 career OBP .423 career SLG Joe Crede .256 career AVG .304 career OBP .434 career SLG Neither is great but I would take Mackowiak's career .325 OBP and speed over Crede's .304 career OBP and base-clogging skills. Even better, I would like a Crede/Mackowiak righty/lefty platoon at 3B. And if we are paying Timo $1 million to be a 4th or 5th outfielder, what the hell is wrong with paying Mackowiak $1.5 million when he can backup Crede at 3B and play LF, RF, CF, 2B, and some 2B? He could also pinch-hit and pinch-run just like Timo but with more speed. Giving up some combination of Willie, Borchard, or Adkins would not be a huge loss to our team considering none of them may even make the opening day roster. It's nice that Mackowiak grew up as a Sox fan from Oak Lawn, IL but I like him for his ability to play almost every position well and his base-running/base-stealing speed. Yes, I must control myself from starting a thread everyday on Rob Mackowiak's status. It must suck for you to have to see those threads everyday. By the way, Bobby Hill is fighting for playing time on the Pirates as well but I guess he must suck too. :rolly What is wrong with adding another lefty bat if it's just replacing Willie's? We would still have Carl Everett (when Frank is healthy) and Pablo Ozuna as our righty bats off the bench. I haven't seen Ozuna play 3rd base yet. What game was it?
-
Ozuna plays 2B and SS, not 3B. Wilson Valdez plays a little 3B. Since I expect Ozuna to make the roster, we still need a backup 3B.
-
I'd sooner send Willie and someone else over to the Pirates for Mackowiak. Willie could platoon with Jose Castillo at 2B since Castillo doesn't hit righties and Willie does. Right now, it's quite obvious that Crede is the main hole in our lineup. I know it's only Spring Training but Joe is looking like his 2004 version all over again. We need another 3rd baseman to platoon with him or at least to back him up. Pablo Ozuna could fill Willie's role AND he can backup SS.
-
1) I'd rather see him hitting 8th for the Sox than Crede. He also doesn't run like molasses on a cold day. 2) Anyone is available for the right price. I seem to recall the Pirates looking for a power-hitting outfielder via a trade. Did you ever think that Littlefield just said that to make teams offer more for Mackowiak? Just how Kenny said that Willie could be out starting 2nd baseman? GM's lie. Don't be so naive.

"Bucs, Mackowiak avoid arbitration" http://pittsburgh.pirates.mlb.com/NASApp/m...s_pit&fext=.jsp So he's going to earn $1.5 million in 2005 with the possibility of earning $90,000 in performance bonuses (based on starts and plate appearances).

http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb...t=.jsp&c_id=cws 15 more players to cut.
-
What? You don't like Mackowiak?
-
He's good against righties. By the way, how is 13 stolen bases from a 3rd baseman considered "mediocre speed"? :rolly Just to prove you wrong again... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/scouting?statsId=6725

This lineup would kick ass against righties, as well... LF Pods (lefty) 2B Iguchi (righty) DH Everett (lefty) 1B Konerko (righty) RF Dye (righty) C Pierzynski (lefty) CF Rowand (righty) 3B Mackowiak (lefty) SS Uribe (righty)

http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...ort=MLB&id=6725 http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...ort=MLB&id=6930 Since the Pirates seem to be going with Wiggington at 3B and they already have Bobby Hill to backup 3B and 2B, is Mackowiak going to be on the trading block? They also have a glut of outfielders (Jason Bay, Matt Lawton, Tike Redman, and Craig Wilson) so they won't need Mackowiak to play there either. I think he would be the best possible backup for Crede. I wonder if the Pirates would be interested in Borchard, Willie, or Adkins.
-
I think Pablo Ozuna will be able to handle utility infielder. We need a backup 3B now.
-
When you have to search for specific stats to make a player look good, that player usually sucks.

6-3 Royals now.
