  1. Like, it's only a preseason game, sure sure. But trubisky was so trashed as a pick, from getting booed at bulls game, to becoming this running joke on NFL talking head twitter, that I'm going to enjoy this. Bears fans never even got the honeymoon phase of imagining a top QB draft pick would succeed. So, basically we get a week of honeymoon phase. ANd though it's true in either case, I'd much rather this then the rationalizing that it's preseason after a terrible performance.
  2. When Moncada gets into a favorable count like 2-0, where he can lock-in to a fastball if it's in the zone, it just seems like game over. I'm actually surprised the ball only want as far as it did, he seemed to get all of it (maybe it was a bit toward end of bat).
  3. I actually thought Trubs looked a little rattled at first (TD drive) and then settled in and looked really good. We heard a lot of handwringing about the 3rd string oline in front of him, but he looked really good moving around pocket and then fast as hell on scrambles.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 10, 2017 -> 04:25 PM) I honestly don't see a way the white sox lose tonight. Called it
  5. 2 series. 2 touchdowns. No incompletions. That's how you start.
  6. Yeah aside from first 3 series, cohen, Jackson, shaheed and trubs all have had moments. Floyd/Bullard looked good.
  7. Only competition is vlad jr
  8. lol I thought this may be entertaining but it's a Bears game
  9. I honestly don't see a way the white sox lose tonight.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 10:45 PM) Ramon Beltre certainly is interesting. Isn't he kinda old? Was taking in DSL but I thought he was like 23
  11. Anthony Coronado in DSL 3-4 with a double and a homer. 18 doubles and 4 home runs on the year. Pretty nice season so far for him.
  12. Actually I'm wrong, a lot of those guys were in Birmingham, but it would have been an interesting point if it was true.
  13. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 04:27 PM) That actually looks like a MLB lineup. A s*** one, but a MLB lineup. It's honestly kind of incredible how much of that lineup was starting on a bad Charlotte team last April.
  14. In this hypothetical world he's needed on a contender, I think he still would not be up for one reason: he was recovering from injury to start the year. Had he started off healthy in high-A, I think he's in AA in June and could have been a Moncada/Benintendi/Devers-esque callup to a contender. But he is only now really heating up due to health.
  15. B.S. artists at the height of their game.
  16. Aw man, that was my birthday! I knew Mueller was planning something special.
  17. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) Anderson got the largest extension ever given to someone with less than 1 year service time. So while it isn't cost prohibiitive, the fact is no team had ever done it. They put a lot of faith in TA. Hopefully, they will be rewarded. But there's also a reason someone like Anderson signed it.
  18. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 11:02 AM) Not sure, but bmag's claim that force would be met with force when it comes to NK isn't true. They hold the trump card and they know it. If North Korea declared war on South Korea, they would be met with force. Your gulf of tonkin scenario being met with war seems a little trigger happy. We have been performing cyber sabotage on north korea's weapon systems for years. Should they declare war on us for that?
  19. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Aug 9, 2017 -> 10:17 AM) The difference is, NK will not be ignored. You can turn your back, but they will keep developing weapons and threatening. To truly get rid of the threat...all nations need to be on the same page and against NK. And I mean all of them. An attack on one of us is an attack on ALL of us. Unfortunately, that probably won't happen. But I would argue that IS happening. And the potential of a true threat is low, because actual aggression will be met with force. So they rattle, they get reminded (see UN) that it is still unacceptable to be aggressive. If they actually attack or perform a land grab, they know they can't win.
  20. I can't tell the future, but it seems to me a likely scenario that IF we take out North Korea's government, that land will be a proxy war from more western-aligned powers such as South Korea and Japan vs China. That's why saving them through force is unlikely to truly solve the issue.
