2017-2018 NFL Thread
There have been many-a highly touted QBs who the league has thought could teach them accuracy, so I'm glad it's showed in pads. I bring it up because his first few days had a lot of nfl media "LOL he has trouble with snaps" contrasted to "Watson is the greatest QB ever", it has since flipped to now people discussing Trubisky on rise and may start sooner than people think, while the texans camp is about savage playing better and likely to be a starter.

Delmonico promoted to big league club
Rodon's 2015 callup was clearly too early. He would have benefited from being allowed to focus on his changeup and fastball command without worrying about Major League results. But would be crazy to see him down again in 2016.

**SPOILER THREAD** GAME OF THRONES ** SPOILER THREAD **
So, just so I'm clear. There was a bit of interplay between the "previously" and the episode where it showed Baelish telling Cat Stark the dagger belonged to Tyrion Lannister, but then in the show Baelish telling Bran he didn't know who the dagger belonged to. Obviously, Bran (the most charismatic character in the world) would know now. So, is that accurate? We haven't known how involved littlefinger was in promoting the war of the 5 kings, so maybe we find out in the coming weeks. Littlefinger is getting pushed out to margins right now, they do not appear to be setting him up for redemption.

Moncada posts productive Fenway return
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 10:41 AM) By essentially telling him he isn't good enough for the majors. The Braves and the Cubs were capable of doing it with players more touted and successful in their major league careers than Anderson, but the White Sox it's apparently another tool in the chest that the white sox can't handle. The White Sox have shown they believe in him with a contract. I don't believe the White Sox or Tim Anderson are different, and Tim also does own a home in North Carolina.

Moncada posts productive Fenway return
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2017 -> 10:26 AM) For a guy that is already struggling with self-confidence, I don't know that sending him down sends the right message. All though I would like to mention that there might be signs of life since the Stroman incident. In August Anderson is on a 5 game hitting streak, with two of them as multi-hit games. 7-22 with a double, triple, and a homer during that stretch and 3 RBI. One way to build confidence is to give him success again at a lower level and away from reporters asking him about his struggles every night.

I think it would be good for him, not punish him.

Moncada posts productive Fenway return
I'm beating a dead horse, but considering we already paid Tim a contract showing how much the org is behind him, I just don't see how sending him down for some time is this huge no-no. Especially with Dansby Swanson down in AAA.

FutureSox: Top 30 Prospect List
Also I like Davidson, really glad he got to find himself back. But I don't see him as a major league starter unless he can get his OBP up to at least .330, and that will be hard without how little he makes contact. So, as cool as it was that Davidson didn't go the way of Jacob May, he's not such an interesting example of failed prospect becoming valuable piece. He still has a chance though.

Long term roster and lineup projection
It's funny. I was thinking about how I did this as a post in 2015 as we started going for it. Everyone said "it's a stupid exercise, it won't happen like you think" (and they were right) but it was when I did the exercise that I realized how narrow the sox's chances were to build a sustained winner. In 2015 we were signing guys to shorter deals with idea that our new drafting and farm could build up and come up in 2018. And then I did it and realized we had like 3 guys that had strong chances of being MLB regulars and like 10 guys we had to hope to catch lightning in a bottle. Like for that to work we were devastated by Trey M failing. We could handle Burger (or Collins) busting without destroying rebuild. That's exciting. We do need a pitcher to have an outsized impact though.

FutureSox: Top 30 Prospect List
My point with Delmonico wasn't really that he should be higher, but that the rational for not including him in the list is basically the same as why Gillaspie should be lower. He basically has to have power show big and soon for him to be interesting. Because we have a nice contact, modest power .760 OPS DH in delmonico who we don't value that much already.

Or you know, he just put 5 good games together because he's a professional baseball player.

Reverse Standings Thread
I think we'll be better next year but our bullpen may be just as bad so I don't know if our record would show it.

Not a good Guerrero start

Lopez to pitch for Sox on Friday?
Lol if Tyler Danish is called up.

FutureSox: Top 30 Prospect List
To me both Gillespie and Sheets were too high. Good work though everyone. I do think Delmonico deserved top 30 mention. He is unlikely to be a full time player but he definitely has an MLB bat. Which makes him more interesting than Gillespie to me.

He's not really crushing his competition in the DSL.

Source: Darvish Traded right at deadline to Dodgers
I think Calhoun is good, but the Dodgers wanted a good pitcher mid season for a playoff stretch run. Those specific three months hold a lot of value. Plus Darvish gets to move to NL with a dominant pen and play in Dodger stadium. He could pitch 5 innings and rest up.

Just Missed - Prospects just outside our new Top 30
Interesting. A lot of guys who will sniff majors there. Interesting to see Yurchak and Dedelow and no Destino. I would doubt he's in top 30 so yeah, shows the depth.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 08:15 PM) Right, but a DH with his hitting potential is still valuable IMO. But so is Yu Darvish

7/31 Games
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 10:08 PM) I would hope Call. He started the season at Winston-Salem and that's where he should finish. Plus Adolfo's K rate is still above 30% and I don't think promoting him will help in that area. What's really going to be interesting is how they address the OF logjam next year. Call, Fisher, Basabe, Rutherford, Adolfo, & arguably Robert & Gonzalez should all start next year in high A. They'll probably ease Robert into full-season ball by sending him to Kannapolis, but that still leaves six potential OFs for W-S and that doesn't even include interesting but fringier guys in Booker & Schnurbusch. They'll probably have to push Fisher and either Call (more likely) or Basabe (less likely) to AA to create enough playing time for everyone. Good problem to have I guess. I agree and Call has been hitting better.
