That's the thing for me. I accept Collins is likely not going to ever be good at blocking pitches. But if he can throw player out plus hit, we are talking about receiving where he needs to be good. What about the last 4-5 years has taught us that framing cannot be improved or taught? Is athleticism key to that? It's possible it's just not something I've heard tied to it.
  2. QUOTE (pablo @ Aug 23, 2017 -> 10:59 AM) Defintiely agreed - he was able to get through 6 innings relying on basically one pitch which is impressive to me but also was expected. Did anyone think the fastball had a little run to it (away from lefties, into a righty)? It didn't seem completely straight as opposed to Fulmer's the other night. I thought the fastball location to the lefties was above average for most of the night - he was able to get inside quite often. Also - anyone know how many swinging strikes he generated? I'm assuming low since he was only throwing the fastball with a little bit of the change. Since he only threw one game, it shouldn't be that hard to figure out but I am confused which stat and which site tracks this. http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playe...&position=P ARe the swing % what we are looking for?
  3. If I was a cavs fan the last thing I'd want them to do is use a top 5 pick on a nba-ready lower ceiling player just because it fit our window better. If that's the case, trade the pick for a player that is a more sure thing.
  4. ESPN has a feather in its cap and it is definitely its college football coverage.
  5. I actually believe them that they just thought it was a small distracting thing that would lead to memes/jokes about a new announcer. These moves that come across as so deliberate and big when send through the social media sphere were likely a pretty small thing that happened and all agreed on. ESPN after all did not announce to broadcast how sensitive they were. They asked if he could switch to one of their many other games privately to avoid some jokes and it happened because switching gamesweeks before is pretty common.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 08:00 PM) Two doubles tonight. Off Kyle Gibson, but that grain of salt is countered by beating up Giles and Martes, too. Hopefully he can feast on the AL Central 40 man rosters down the stretch and have a full head of steam/confidence going into 2018. If he makes his career destroying bad pitchers he'll be pretty good.
  7. Change up worked very well, I'd guess it was thrown only 4-5 times? I did not see the cutter we heard he was working on this year.
  8. Leury has a bad error and two gun Pete manages to make it about Anderson. Shocking.
  9. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 08:49 PM) Slow hook of course. That fastball got really destroyed last few innings Who cares? Let him work through it.
  10. Damn. Funny how quickly an outing can turn.
  11. Sometimes when Nicky is batting I think I'm looking at Scott podsednik
  12. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 08:35 PM) Ya, agreed. We don't need him to be an ace, because we have Kopech and Hansen who look to be TOR guys. I can't believe how much he's lost off the fastball though since his Nats days. They must have really screwed him up mechanically. Perfect case of if it isn't broken, don't fix it. He was throwing 95-96 in first 2 innings
  13. Really encouraging to me. Showed that even if he can't locate his Curve, his fastball is good enough to be effective. When his curve is on?
  14. A good amount of swing and misses too

Nice game for Mendick who has struggled in AA
  16. A nice easy swing that is again only a single for many hitters.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 09:30 AM) Hopefully this works as well for Moncada as it did Abreu. Wellp!
  18. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 07:35 PM) The crazy thing is that Bam tech was a SPINOFF of mlb advanced media. the 30 clubs still own the mothership, plus the 25% of bamtech not owned by the nhl or Disney. There was a lot of pressure from outside forces for mlb to take on outside investors or IPO mlbam. And even then it would have been massive windfall for the 30 clubs. holding pat until bamtech spun off was a smart move. As for the money, since the sox really only have operating losses and don't carry long term debt, they have a huge wad of money that can be used for ANYTHING, but yeah, likely it'll cover Robert's signing bonus and fees. I imagine quite a few clubs will use it for debt service. Thanks for this post. Makes sense.
  19. Id be pretty happy if I was cavs
  20. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 01:43 PM) I thought she said she didn't want to go to back to King's Landing (seems fair) so she was sending Brienne as her proxy? Is that not the case? Right, but when I watched I was like "why send anyone?". They were at open war with Cersei, why would she take that invite without any word from John? And she could have easily sent someone else on her behalf.
  21. This was helpful to me because I had zero clue why she sent off Brienne (possible reading is it was to avoid her being used against her sister: https://www.theringer.com/game-of-thrones/2...-jon-arya-sansa
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 22, 2017 -> 01:12 PM) Honestly...I don't like the 3 eyed raven story. I'd have been fine without it...although I presume there is more of the story still to tell. There were good parts, such as hodor and other information that came out because of him. All these critiques aside, I love the show. I came to respect it because I hated it, but they kept putting in the time and last season I thought it was pretty good. Then, you expect it to pay off when he reunites with people whom his valuable information could help, and instead we get "I see things, lots of them, you once said this, I must go back now thanks"
  23. Bran/Sam, which weren't good storylines to begin with, should be paying off now. But they didn't have time so they became unbearable. The 3-eyed raven could not be more insignificant.
