I have one hope, and it's that he tweets this out and like...Mattis doesn't actually do anything. There is no policy change, they just hope he forgets. It's one thing preventing people not yet there that they aren't good enough, but there are currently transgendered serving their country, who will be what, discharged by the dozens? As they have their whole lives, I'm sure many will continue to hide it and continue on serving.. What a disgraceful burden put on them.

It definitely looks visibly lazy but it's more likely he is just unsure of himself in almost every situation now. He is so much better on a fast developing play that he reacts to instinctually right now than a slow roller from his bat or to the field.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 26, 2017 -> 06:41 AM) Kade McClure went a perfect inning, 3 K's in his professional debut. Guessing the lousville guys aren't gonna get a lot of run this year after their CWS run? Has Henzman been anywhere?

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 10:34 PM) There is something called groupthink that happens, and it absolutely happens here. Compare the threads discussing what we think should be the returns for players, and then compare the actual returns for players. The difference is ridiculous. And if anyone points it out at the time, what was the reaction? -
It was really nice having a guy go 2 innings and it be worth it. No offense to Dan Jennings.

In trades for relievers, when returns are going in the 50-45 FV range, these are scout pick ems. Some are going to like them, some aren't, otherwise they'd be higher. I'm both fine with getting a guy ready, considering the team right now, and also would have preferred a guy a bit younger in AA. But, as Eric Longenhagen noted, he made a change in his swing that led to a better go-around in AA his second time through that stuck this year in AAA. This is hopefully where our scouts came in. -

Actually until they all had their knees explode the player I was most confident in our scouting was grabbing that guy blocked at the ML level. This one isn't Eaton/Quentin but could be productive. -
Coronado in DSL 2 for 5 with a double and a home run.

I recommend Longenhagens profile. Hard to link to so just search FA graphs Brewers top prospects. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 06:38 PM) The write-up sounds promising, that said, his weakness is not an area that the White Sox development team has excelled at. All things considered, I'll take it for the flyer that Anthony S was. Seems like he made big progress on Brewers system. Could be a fun watch. -

QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 05:18 PM) WATCH. THE DAMN. VIDEO. He does ALL of that. Jesus. I posted it on the last page or two. You don't get to b**** if you don't inform yourself. This is hilarious to me. I chose Schumer and Warren for a reason, because I know he's taking up a consumer advocacy fights. The disconnect is you think doing that under the guise of a great new policy platform is a good way to do that. You are taking whatever authenticity may exist and shoving it through the top down structure of a platform. Complaints of democratic party: - Too top down and stodgy - Too believing in power of their policy message - People unconvinced they are actually fighting on their side - Leadership full of out of touch elites Solution: - Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi unveil a top down unveiling a long list of policies with a bunch of kitschy catch phrases they hope get worked into each of their candidates stump speeches in a mid day press conference Platforms truly do not mean anything. If they actually thought a press conference with a list of policies from their leadership will be the catalyst that propels them to seeming relateable and having solutions to constituent problems, God help us. Throw this s*** on the web site and pat yourselves on the back, then start doing some things that don't seem planned in a board room.
-
QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 05:04 PM) Lol that's what they're trying to do. They got swallowed by Russiagate yesterday. That s***'s going to happen. You're seriously going to blame that on the Dem leadership? What's your suggestion for breaking the Trump news cycle, since you've got all these answers? You seriously think a press conference to announce a policy platform only got ignored because of Trump? Here's something up Schumer's alley. He needs to pick a fight. Not with a politician. Find some consumer report s*** with telecoms. Get all the politicians in dem party that have some sort of reputation. Have them go after some institutions. Schumer continue with comcast. Have someone hammer the s*** out of Jamie Dimon sounding the alarms because labor is getting a bigger cut cutting into corporate profits. Warren after Wells Fargo. The Dems can't be this party that stands for upholding all institutions because they will carry the baggage of all of them. They are a minority party right now. They will survive on personality. nobody gives a s*** about what the minority parties platform is, they can't do anything with it.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 05:02 PM) If you didn't see it that's on you. You didn't see it because the press covered Kushner, as I mentioned above. Every single person I've shown it to had the same reaction. It's good. Really good. You mean it's crushing the dem operative demographic?
-
QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 04:57 PM) It's terrible if you deliver it terribly, and fantastic if you deliver it well. Chuck delivered it damn well yesterday. I know that he didn't because I didn't see it and nobody saw it except 4 jacobin writers that wanted to get upset.
-
QUOTE (Reddy @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 04:52 PM) Platform and slogans don't usually matter. That's true. This time, it matters. You can say whatever you want, but I'll be happy to see how this post matures over the next 16 months. Because the branding the Dems do to counter Trump's will matter tremendously, since the biggest criticism of the Dems IS that no one knows what they stand for. It really won't matter unless they want to run a suicide mission. If dems want to show what they believe in and counteract news cycles from trump, they better stop believing in platforms and ground game, and also start to get familiar with this new medium called television.
-
"And that's why this is..." *squints* "A better deal" You can replace that last line with anything and it's still terrible.
-
The candidates matter more than anything else. You think a potential candidate is ever going to refer back to this platform? If any candidate uses the party slogan as a reason to vote they should be primaried to s***.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 03:33 PM) If this was a big unveiling it wasn't even well thought out. Remember the Iraq war marketing setup - "You never introduce a new product until after Labor Day". It's because it doesn't matter.
-
I remember every year of my life when the party platform and national party committees were overconsidered and pointless until bernie came along and told me that actually they are the most important thing in the world.
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2017 -> 02:42 PM) Dude, they just trucked a cancer patient across the country to make him vote to bring this to the floor and he did it. They'll pass something in a couple weeks. Literally the only thing that will stop it is John McCain dying. Maybe, but I'll take the additional time.
-
I'm not surprised they relented on pressure to allow them to vote, but it could lead it's way to full defeat. I could see them calculating that officially voting it down was the only way for it to truly start over. As long as it wasn't voted down it wasn't ever dead.
