  1. Could be, could also be that re-setting value for their prospects after the deadline to let everyone know they value those prospects and aren't giving them away after their trades for Pomeranz/Kimbrall.
  2. Chicago is a beautiful city with lots of things to do and see and accomodations. Would have been great here.
  3. I don't really care. I'm still pissed about 2010 and how timid progressives got and didn't vote in the election. Still paying for that to this day.
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 5, 2016 -> 09:59 AM) This is gonna be bad. The bad thing already happened. The next bad thing that could happen is it was sweeped under rug. This, to this point, is how these things should be handled.
  5. Chicago has acted swiftly against the officers, but video is about to be released and the internal review board president said it is disturbing. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/c...-htmlstory.html
  6. Reading that, I can think of one thing: PEOPLE VOTE IN YOUR STATE ELECTIONS
  7. I agree, plus Brazil is kind of an expert at pulling it together "enough" at the last minute just to make it competent enough that people don't mention it. You have to wonder what the stories would have been about Chicago at the Columbian Exposition had Twitter been around. A serial killer on the loose and many buildings still under construction when it started. Anyway - Go US. Beach Volleyball is going to be pretty awesome as that is a big deal in Brazil.
  8. I just feel like deja vu. This is like, the exact 1 year point from when he also hit 5-6 homers in 2 weeks then fell on his face again.
  9. I want to point out something though, in the wake of the recent jobs report. 50% of people without a high school degree are unemployed (stay in school, kids) http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/p...eport-suggests/ The reports on Seattle have been largely complimentary because no huge change occurred. But hiring did slow in a boom area, and hours were cut back, in a fashion big enough that it neutralized the earnings. That means while it may help those workers who have jobs do better, it may permanently cut out the others. We have a lot of social spending being means tested to work. This basically cuts out an already vulnerable population and would basically push them to a life of living off exclusively food stamps. That thought is very scary. Also, Seattle is in a boom economy and is doing a better job at building. A lot of this income will be sucked into unproductive housing rents unless people in urban areas keep their preference for preventing all building.
  10. I support Clinton. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I'm actively trying to "normalize" her mwahahahahahaha
  11. As wage growth accelerates, we have this chart https://fred.stlouisfed.org/series/LNS17200000 Will Yellen allow economy to run hot to make up some of that dip?
  12. Absolutely fantastic jobs day.
  13. It was worth it. That was the best.
  14. Hahahaha. Oh man that's the best line.
  15. Oh, when I see a + next to a poll I usually think it's referring to the movement from the last poll.
  16. Good think he had higher viewership.
  17. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 02:22 PM) Interesting..thank you. Some better names than I would have thought, but still doesn't exactly paint a pretty picture. If Anderson goes onto have the career of Erick Aybar there's absolutely nothing wrong with that. He should be proud of that kind of career and no one would have the right to complain...BUT when that's your organizations best hitting prospect its a huge problem. *And not saying that Aybar is Anderson's ceiling either before anyone gets their panties further in a bunch. Just saying that its a likely career path IF major changes aren't made to his hitting approach. That's a different argument. But worth noting that Mark Grudzellliank and Shawn Duncan were Andersons common reference points. Frankly of the above, it's anderson's athleticism/speed potential for SB and defense that makes him more promising. But considering the SS who just came up in the game, Anderson will be a solid starter for many years for us (IMO when he settles in) but not close to top 5 which Alexei probably was during that SS downtime.
  18. bahahahaha edit: Do tell, Oliver, do tell
  19. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 12:35 PM) But he didn't adjust in the minors...at all. His horrible 4% walk rate went down when he got promoted to AAA and his K% went up. And now both are even worse in the majors. There's 0 progression being made. And it's not like we are talking about a guy not being able to hit a good slider...we are talking about a huge fundamental flaw and there seems to be no signs of improvement. If his walk rates were acceptable in the minors I wouldn't be making a peep out of this small sample size. But when there are obvious signs of failure in his future all the way back to A ball and nothing has changed since l it should be a huge red flag for everyone. Whether it's Anderson himself or the coaching, I have no clue, but it's a problem that doesn't seem to be limited to him either. The # of players in this organization capable of going up to the plate and having a respectable major league AB is pathetic. But hey, why point out flaws for this great franchise since all they do is make smart decisions and win...oh wait. He was moved aggressively in the minors so what he is referring to is month by month improvements before starting over at each level. He should not have been moved up to the majors, but just as Xander Bogaerts struggled in his first 1.5 years, so may Anderson.
  20. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 12:38 PM) I watched Johnson and Wield have a town hall on CNN last night. Wield is a much better speaker and you can definitely tell Johnson was a little nervous but they had some pretty interesting things to say. Hopefully they can get into the debates, I think they can get some traction as more and more Trump supporters jump ship. I actually think they will get traction this election. There was a lot of talk about the increasing role of libertarianism in the Republican party, and obviously Ron Paul and Rand Paul went to Republican party in their elections, but unlike some of the left ideas making it into the Dem platform, they didn't seem to win out on any platform concessions aside from the crankiest ones : Audit Fed, Gold Standard (2012 platform included commission on reinstituting gold standard) But now there seems to be a legit schism for a libertarian party since none of the civil liberty/social/drug issues are being put in prominently by Repub platform. That said, they have to start actually winning more state level seats in friendly states.
  21. So you can chalk this season to be about 8-9 games with Jeffery hobbled with a hammy all year.
  22. I should talk trash about players I want to succeed more often.
