  1. I'm sure we'll kick tires on that.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) Yep. Here's the quote. The spin they put on it makes no sense. But his sheep will buy anything he sells. Although it could be assassinate the judges. "If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don't know," Trump said. Yeah, the most charitable reading you could make of that sentence is that he's actually implying murdering scotus judges.
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 01:18 PM) So Robertson is a bad closer not because it's hurting the team in general, but Chris Sale's Cy Young chances. My point is there was no real reason to bring Sale into this. Robertson has been disappointing this year, regardless of whose wins he's lost. I don't know, rooting for a Cy Young for Sale is fun, and wins still matter there. All blown saves suck, but his have just been ruinous in a specifically demoralizing way for me as a fan. I watched yesterdays game and was enjoying myself and thought about going to another game before summer. And then the 9th. Robertson just has this role this year of like, specifically reminding us every time we get complacent that no, this season can't have nice things.
  4. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 12:49 PM) They reported the story when it was relevant. How does that change anything? I don't disagree, Greenwald both exiled himself for as long as I can remember due to his partners legal status but also is facing new pressure...but Shocking that a news source on "gay and lesbian perspective" would report that. That's not arguing that. I don't know why a gay-focused magazine would be trying to obscure the reason for Greenwald being overseas. It's just an unfair handwaving to both the source and the person who is taking time to backup their argument.
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 12:41 PM) Shocking that a news source on "gay and lesbian perspective" would report that. Greenwald has made several forms of communication to authoritatives bodies to confirm that he wouldn't be arrested in the United States and he has yet to get a response saying as much. The authorities want him for his role in leaking the information Snowden took. This isn't some happy fairytale where he's a martyr for the gays. He f***ed with the political elite and now they want him silenced. That is from 2011, so no, I don't think Big Gay is conspiring against anyone.
  6. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 11:56 AM) I've long thought Assange and Snowden are reckless. It's one of the few issues I've sided with the right on. I've always thought Snowden's heart was in the right place, but he was reckless in his leaks (in regards to putting US agents at risk). Assange I've always thought of as a political player with an agenda at play, hiding behind "journalistic integrity." Snowden had one leak which he truly did not understand, but for the most part, Greenwald and, I forgot the other source, were very good about vetting what was released.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 11:52 AM) It has been entertaining to see the opinions on him flip since the topic moved from the Iraq War to Hillary and the DNC. Wikileaks has always been more controversial, as seen by the early Colbert interview where he comes hard at Assange. But also, when wikileaks first came out it was very new, and arising from a time in internet history pushing for transparency. As soon as it became apparent how often these were entrapping innocent people and being used as tools of other powerful people, there was more of a snap back. If you are going to leak something, have some sense of decency and respect for the information.
  8. Out of curiosity did Wikileaks have an agenda when they tried to whitewash Russian Oligarchs from the panama papers or was that just their integrity? Do they have an agenda when they routinely tweet anti semitic things or is that their fight to bring down the "elites"? The leakers of the panama papers sent them to Journalists to vet and protect innocent peoples personal information and uncover crime. Edward Snowden used journalists to do the same. Wikileaks just releases all of it without often understanding what things are, as seen by their numerous tweets from the DNC scandal accusing foul play when they often just don't understand English or context. The thing I love about conspiracy theories is how they loop along rough coincidences and say "that's the truth", but the overwhelming evidence that Wikileaks has been acting largely as a prop wing of the Russian government is so quickly dismissed.
  9. Oh, I forgot the part about how the DNC, who are so clearly powerful and organized, find out it was Rich and Debbie Wasserman-Schulz secretly orders his murder as retribution for this mildly, short-lived "Scandal".
  10. Could be that wikileaks received emails from Rich, who then covered up for him by getting russian located hackers to hack DNC at same time. Or, could be that Wikileaks, for some reason uncomfortable that people have called out their role as russian shills, imply the leak was from a dead person who can't deny it. Considering their journalistic integrity included no qualms about releasing financial information of Americans who donated to DNC, I'm sure they wont' mind providing proof this dead man was their leak.
  11. QUOTE (raBBit @ Aug 10, 2016 -> 11:18 AM) Sox have three of their biggest scouts (Hostetler/Laumann specifically) who live right by Louisville. Last year the Sox were scouting Funkhouser hard, this year Ray, and they saw a lot of Burdi and absolutely love him. Someone I spoke to said that if Burdi was available at #26, they didn't envision a scenario the Sox wouldn't take him. Love him as what though? I'd hope that thorough scouting and love for him would be confidence his stuff would translate into a starter. Moving him up to reliever at the big league club in his first year woul dmake it very surprising if they still stretch him out and send him to double A to work as a starter next.
  12. I have a hard time disagreeing with greensox now that the white sox didn't just use a draft pick on Burdi because they hoped he could be a reliever right away on a contending team. I have very low confidence that they may try and stretch him out to a starter if this is the behavior.
  13. Agree. We don't have any internal candidates (unless you count Abreu) fit to provide average production at DH.
  14. I'm sympathetic to that too but if they get to the stage of the negotiations where that is the only sticking point that would be huge progress. Instead we are in the situation where the we have huge debt responsibility with declining school enrollment, and the teachers union responds by telling the city to change their TIF policies and that will cure everything.
  15. What I dislike heavily on CTU strike strategy is how they group their contract demand issues with classroom improvement issues. And so while it seems nobile (bringing attention to the classroom conditions for students) it convolutes the argument and knowingly tries to pin city/taxpayer on the argument of "you are going to vote against giving kids more desks?"
  16. Ragland out for year and Lawson out fthrough October. Sorry Bills fans.
  17. My favorite thing about Robertson is how he blows the games that felt deeply satisfying up to that point.
  18. Hell yeah Ledecky Apparently there was an awesome team handball finish I've been trying to track doewn
  19. The post I deleted was false. Sorry for not checking it out before. Very uncharitable reading of what she said.
  20. I'm going to delete my last post as I can't find it actually corroborated in print but was from a journalist on Twitter. If it turns out to have been true I'll add it back.
  21. QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 04:36 PM) Not much of a reason to watch tonight thanks to everyone on Twitter. This was the one time I was genuinely upset to be spoiled. I didn't even know today was the final, I would have been able to watch tonight in suspense. Oh well, it's amazing that the US is now the dominant gymnastics team. 96 was so incredible, but we were always the underdog. Now this is amazing. Congrats to all of them.
  22. If you watch the video there is no way you can claim that's not what he was insinuating.
  23. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) Also, 2015 Abreu was good too. I don't understand why anyone is disappointed with that production. It was good. It's ultimately not his fault that the team needed elite production from him, but now with it being unclear that Abreu is a top 10 1b it's hard to see how the front office plans to get the offense improved enough to win with this staff.
