QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) I don't think their assets are worth less this time next year. They can get a similar package to what was offered for Sale and Q at that time. Frazier and Melky will be free agents. Teams have been overpaying for going to be free agents and Sox would also have comp pick option if CBA stays similar. But if you see this team going nowhere, you are basically wasting a year of realigning the strategy of your team. It's distracting and not really a compelling way to lead a team to the playoffs as fast as possible.

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 09:14 AM) I guess the CDC is doing too good of a job keeping everyone from getting Ebola? It's just because the corporations didn't want us to get ebola man.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 11:02 PM) I thought using the Muslim family with the slain soldier for political gain was pretty low. Trump responded like an idiot but the fact that the media accepted that as a headline story was just low. Just felt dirty in general and I don't think that does honor to the dead. I know everybody from both parties loves to "bring out the victims to show the human side"...just don't like it ever. Just my take The thing is, having a gold star family at a political convention is pretty commonplace. Part of a convention should be showing respect for the country. But the difference this election is the republican candidate has disparaged a religion and proposed banning muslims from coming to US. Well, US citizens and US soldiers are muslim. Part 2 is Trumps inability to handle criticism, so he must not only respond, but disparage and accuse the family of being sympathetic to terrorists. This family, whose son sacrificed his life for the country in Afghanistan. This is only a political gain because Trump made it a political hit to himself.

Benintendi called up. Get ready for him to play himself out of a trade.

My feelings exactly. I feel like we would have responded "no Bradley!" Though

He can just reach into his billions thou

That's a promising start though. A better GM could have probably worked it.

No one will be fooled that the team is a josh reddick away from competing.

Puig v. Sale. Should be a good show.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 04:36 PM) FYI - FutureSox probably wouldn't rank Tilson #5 So 1? please be 1

Didn't seem to have any effect on Miller, whom, while better, netted two top 50 prospects.

Also your follow-up on how she is not anti-vaxx doesn't really seem to be holding up. But also her fleshed out response there about how we shouldn't trust government agencies like the CDC and others because they are just Big Business shills is so maddening. Oh, and your platform is to increase reach of gov't that we can't trust because it is controlled by elites? Makes sense. Good platform.

Goldwater ran with the segregationists in 64, hard to say it was arguably racist.

QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 04:05 PM) People are upset the Sox didn't make a move, but if they had, they'd be justifiably getting blasted for doing a lopsided deal that wasn't in their favor. It's true that losing a trade or not doing a trade are the only two things that we can expect from our front office.

Can't wait until we convince ourselves that Carlos Gomez as a rotating outfielder DH is going to be the missing link.

Avi deserves it. He's really good.

Sure, but that's what not stupid people do.

Aren't you guys excited to watch David Robertson close games thou?

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 03:26 PM) I feel like I'm experiencing an alternate reality or something. You guys are acting like this team is 20 games under .500 and has a bunch of pending free agents. Again, I understand the opinion that the team should rebuild, but I don't understand why everyone is acting like it's unbelievable that they aren't selling. It's very believable. They didn't "blow" anything, they just made a different decision than you wanted. When the GM says "this team is mired in mediocrity" and then doesn't do anything to fix it, then we have to assume that is acceptable to the White Sox.
-
I really thought when I was seeing things like the Chicago media pushing to sell, fan polls hitting 80%, that the front office felt it had cover to move forward. But when you have nobody providing guidance except "I like to put forth winners, but not at all cost", then this is what you get. Not a winner. Not an up and comer. Just limbo.

QUOTE (shysocks @ Aug 1, 2016 -> 03:20 PM) Hahn really didn't help himself with the "mired in mediocrity" thing, even if it was true. That comment opened a big yawning gap for criticism to flow into today. So true. "We've identified the problem but we don't know how to solve it so we are just going to not do anything and hope it goes away"

One of the things that annoys me about waiting, when you've already diagnosed that your team has an intractable issue with its talent is you are delaying the change in purpose for 6 more months. You are delayed in working with new players with a new system, you are delayed in changing the directives of our scouts and farm.
