  1. QUOTE (LDF @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 02:28 AM) i was reading mlb rumors and they had an article of the 2 ace pitchers in this yr FA. well they are guessing that Lester's camp is wanting a 7 yr contract. with that, i am officially getting of that sinking ship. now, who is that team wanting to get rid of their #1 pitcher?? Marlins. anybody knows of him?? Marlins number 1? They want to trade an injured Fernandez? Dude is under control 5 more years, tj or not. they'll get a haul.
  2. I mean, if that's the headline then I feel terrible for Oakland. On the plus side, chicago media must be so confused that Chris Sale isn't being involved in the talks for Shark. Is Oakland crazy? Shark should net you at least Sale. Green should not be necessary there.
  3. I love twitter during these things. In college football some high level recruit always puts things up like "can't make up my mind!" and it almost always is about pizza, as thousands tweet back "just choose bama!". I'm scared for this trade. I've become much more timid on trading anything and letting this team develop, but, same time, terrified we are going to waste prime years of abreu/sale. I could talk myself into any strategy at this point. I hope sox pull the right one.
  4. Maybe Georgia shouldn't have gotten smoked by Florida.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 28, 2014 -> 09:16 PM) They really should start Niko or Taj over Gasol. Jo plays significantly better when he's not out of position and the defense improves drastically. Totally disagree.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 04:43 PM) An officer grabs at your throat, you hit him to get him to release, he pulls his weapon and fires hitting you in the hand, you flee, he continues firing after he stands up, you turn and put your hands up and he blows your head off. How does the officer avoid that situation? I'm not certain this is how things went down, but I also don't know why I should believe the officer's version of events as you just did there. I'm asking if 100 officers alone in their car try to cite these kids for jaywalking, how many of them end up shooting the kid to death? How many end up attacked?
  7. QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 04:40 PM) A 6'4 300 pound man that you stop starts a physical altercation with you and then tries to take your service weapon. Tell me exactly how you disarm that situation with your training and tactics. There is a difference in acting impolite and a violent altercation. LOL. That's all I have to say to this.
  8. May be alone here, but I don't think a trial, even with low chance of conviction would be a "sham trial". Part of the justice system is giving victims ('s families) their chance in court to make their case. There was enough there to charge, there was a lot of noise and reasonable doubt of innocence was high.
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 04:19 PM) Eh, at least we know he was there when it happened. But once again there should be another officer, a camera and audio to back all of this up Yes. The bottom line for me, and no amount of "some people just be itchin to violencts" will really change my mind, is that a cop tried to stop an unarmed teenager from jaywalking and the unarmed teen ended up dead. Doesn't mean Brown acted polite and did not deserve to be arrested, but he ended up dead. That doesn't scream "I'm really good at my job".
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 05:05 PM) And getting a sham indictment and wasting tax payer money on a sham trial wouldn't? Why would it be a sham trial?
  11. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 04:46 PM) Do we know when Wilson first gave his accounting of what happened? It'd be mighty convenient if he was able to wait until a bunch of other people gave their version and then craft his story around that. I mean, I'd bet anything it was after the part where they told him that if he said Brown grabbed for his gun he would be fine.
  12. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 03:40 PM) That's another aspect of this GJ procedure. There wasn't any verdict. This wasn't a full, normal trial. This was a process with a substantially lower burden of proof that almost always returns an indictment unless the prosecution doesn't actually want one. "You can get a grand jury to indict a ham sandwich" is a classic line about them. But with the way it's being presented, a lot of people will walk away thinking that this was just a fair trial and Wilson didn't get found guilty. I don't know if a jury in a full trial would have found him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt (or whatever the lower threshold for voluntary manslaughter might be, if that had been the charge instead), but it would have been a lot more open and transparent and, hopefully, legitimate than this was. If you want to know the difference between Trayvon and this, it went to trial. They probably overcharged in that case, but it went to trial.
  13. QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 03:36 PM) Yup. I'm hesitant to believe the verdict and I'm hesitant to say Wilson had malicious intent to kill. Judging from Wilson's testimony, a lot of it seemed true. Very descriptive and hard to make up. But at the same time, he had a lot of time to prepare before he had to provide testimony. When you look at some of the stuff StrangeSox posted from the testimony (getting stronger as he was being shot?), it's also hard to believe he was telling the whole truth. And oh, we need police cams. Both on the patrol car and on the police officer. Then this kind of stuff wouldn't be so gray. Interesting enough this is why I find it to be bulls***. The guy has been prepped to get off since day one. His dept has leaked favorable info from day one. Would have loved to have heard Brown's testimony.
  14. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 03:28 PM) I'm open to that being possible. So I'll say incompetent and/or corrupt. So he sounds like a STL prosecutor to me.
  15. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 04:27 PM) Furthermore, just as an example, I have many times heard frat boys, especially at parties, referred to as animals. Um... Animal House? And sometimes it is pretty accurate. Other times maybe not. Just pointing out another scenario where the term comes up often. As they are calling the fraternity animals are they advocating the arms of the state act against them?
  16. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 04:25 PM) It is not remotely believable that Brown kept charging at Wilson, only getting stronger with each bullet that hit him. Well that's what weed does to you.
  17. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 04:22 PM) No, it's me thinking you guys are so full of your white guilt/police hate/gun hate that you can't believe a guy when he describes the fear he saw that day. Like it's not even remotely believable. As if you've been in a similar situation before. Oh I believe the white police officer was very scared of the unarmed black man, that's not the issue.
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 04:20 PM) I can take you to the martyrs graves in forest park for the haymarket rioters that were killed. I don't understand what your stance is on the haymarket riots. It seems like a pretty textbook example of a subverted protest.
  19. Missouri lost by only 19 to Arizona and I was pleased by that.
  20. I don't give a f*** about riots anymore. All these days leading up, and gun sales skyrocketing of the local rich white populace thinking they were going to get dragged out of their homes and beaten, and basically some 7-11s get torched by a crowd and "SEE! ANIMALS!". And are we really complaining about the f***ing haymarket riots? Jesus Christ. I hope you people watch the hunger games and go "why! WHY WOULD YOU TURN TO VIOLENCE"
  21. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Nov 25, 2014 -> 05:18 AM) Why is Snell on the floor at all during the 4th of a non-blowout? Hinrich / Taj injured. Would you prefer Brooks or Moore?
