  1. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 10:56 PM) What is 2 years? He's been an OC for one year. He was named OC after Kelley left. Are you not counting this year as a year?
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 10:33 PM) Its been reported by multiple people so far without it being "official" I guess there could be changes. And we dont hate Frost, he's just been a coordinator ONE year, thats the type of HC jobs that are usually available in MAC level hirings. 2 years? I think it would be a good hire. Nubs clearly wanted someone who would make Nebraska their dream job for years. Never underestimate the alumni's love for a true son. It might not work out but that's why you don't make change for change's sake.
  3. Why do we hate scott frost?
  4. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 09:03 PM) Who is your starting second baseman as of now? One of Semien/Johnson. I do not think 2b is a strength right now, and I'm certainly not excited about extending that to SS as well.
  5. QB who throws a lot of interceptions in first half and makes up for it with second half comebacks...no thanks.
  6. I'm really sick of the amount of "fine defensively" players who have not established themselves offensively we continue to peg onto our team. Our defense, collectively, is terrible. If we go into next year with an infield of Gillaspie - Semien - Johnson - Abreu I would cry watching our pitching squandered. None of our infield prospects have forced their way on our team. They have been pretty good in AAA, and bad on the big league team. Until they prove otherwise I'm not going to hold a spot for Semien on this infield.
  7. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 08:00 PM) It really is too bad Illinois didn't have a competent AD in place in 2009 to fire Zook while the program still had a lot of talent. A new coach could have taken over, had a couple 8-4 type seasons right off the bat and actually had a chance to build a legit program at Illinois. Sigh. Come, high profile coaches, to Illinois, where the unrealistic expectations of our fans just axed a coach 1 year from a BCS bowl. We'll be 100% behind you though!
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 05:16 PM) One other interesting stat: This years Bears team is scoring less per game (21.4) then the Bears did with Mike Tice as the OC (23.4 PPG). That was with Alshon having not emerged / being hurt most of his rookie season. We also had no one who could play TE that year (remember Kellen Davis, LOL). I feel like that may be due to the amount of defensive touchdowns that unit scored. It was like 11 right?
  9. I think the problem is they won't be able to create a law with language narrow enough to please US SC
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 03:41 PM) I continue to say that as a GM I would not give up a "young bullpen arm" for Dayan Viciedo. I'd rather have the young bullpen arm. I have a feeling that on other message boards, there are fellas clamoring to trade for Dayan Viciedo, who hit for high power and is still young. He can help blah blah blah. Sort of like how Delmon Young was just mentioned.
  11. Deron Williams would probably still be fun on a fast paced team. But sticking him on a slow plodding half court team is just miserable.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 03:18 PM) Niko's up and under, spin off the glass with the foul was so awesome yesterday. One of those euro moves, lol I mean, it's incredible the leap he took. I'm kind of glad that 5 fouls in 4 minutes game happened, it seemed to flip a light switch on that he can't play if he can't stay in the game. I feel like he's stopped going for the steals which were causing him a lot of hand fouls. That, and suddenly he's not getting pushed around on the glass. He's doing a great job getting contested, tough rebounds. Offensively, love everything he's doing. Really fun to watch him now.
  13. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Dec 1, 2014 -> 05:59 AM) Mirotic has been playing really well as of late. It's going to tough to get everyone enough playing time when Taj comes back. But it's a good problem to have. He's really turned on his rebounding. It would be great if Niko and Taj could man down the forward positions together.
  14. Brooklyn does that for teams.
  15. There was an awesome camera angle on a Brooks pass to streaking Butler that I wish I could haVe recorded. The type of plays that make you love basketball.
  16. It's really painful to me looking at the incredible lack of success since the 60s for the Bears franchise. I wish they'd sell the team, what a pipe dream.
  17. I'm nervous that the white red may win the sweepstakes.
  18. I know Pellini has anger issues that Nub fans didn't like, but frankly I think the type of success they've had under Bo is about what they will get even best case with a new coach.
  19. I'm guessing he is just saying that because of the bogus ATL out report. Remind me to put baseball analyst in my Twitter profile.
  20. I love how you throw out Alexei as some worthless piece of trash. Two years of a 10 million dollar top 10 shortstop is more than just a throwaway. Semien will likely never be as good as Ramirez's age 33 and 34 seasons.
  21. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 30, 2014 -> 01:05 AM) I say this every week now but this FSU team is so f***in annoying. Ga Tech is going to get them next week. I hope so.
  22. QUOTE (Lillian @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 10:49 PM) Putting aside, for a moment, the cost in players to acquire Jeff S., if he would ultimately get close to $20 Million per year, on a multi year free agent contract, why isn't it far more attractive to simply acquire him for one year, at approximately half of that? He's already 30, and at the end of the year, he becomes even less attractive, as a long term commitment. I'd prefer to have him for one year, at a far more affordable annual salary, without the risk of being stuck with a bad contract. At the end of the season, the Sox could make a qualifying offer, again for one more year, and receive a draft pick. They could then go back into the market, and see who else could be had. Why isn't that preferable to signing any 30 + year old pitcher to a big, long term contract? In other words, which would you rather have; a 30 year old starting pitcher at $10 million for one year, or that same pitcher, one year older, for 4 more years, at $20 million per year? Comparing the deal Beane made to acquire Samardjiza is not relevant, as he was acquired for a season and a half, during Oakland's playoff run. Now, he would be dealt with one year remaining, and Oakland may be back to a rebuild mode. The circumstances are not the same. I originally assumed that it might require dealing Alexei, to which most reacted negatively, asserting that such a move would fill one hole, while opening another. So, now we are talking about a deal that would net them this year's #2 or #3 starter, a right hander yet, and not create a hole at SS. If the Sox take on "Sharks" approximately $10 million arbitration salary, they would still have about $15 million to spend on an outfielder, and a closer. To reiterate, they could then stay within a projected $100 million payroll, with no long term commitments, and field a very competitive team. In the meantime, it gives some of the youth in the system more time to develop, and the front office would have a better idea of the team's needs for 2016. Then, there is still the outside chance that they could move Danks, who would be completely expendable with the Samardjiza's acquisition. Therefore, while the fact that he would be a mere one year rental would reduce the asking price, it could actually be more attractive, IMO. The question is; what would Beane take in exchange for one year of the "Shark"? Good post Lillian.
  23. Crap news for Raps. DeRozan out for indefinite period of Time. Torn tendon in ankle.
  24. QUOTE (SoCalSox @ Nov 29, 2014 -> 09:44 PM) Does any worry that a contract like Shark could get with the Sox will offend Sale? Sale knows why he took that deal. He knows he has an injury risk and possibly could flame out and never get more than his rookie contract + mlb pension. For him it was pray he gets through 6 years and make $150 million, or at least to his arb years, or sign a long term deal at a discount and some of that amount guaranteed.
  25. I have to say, isolated from pay/prospects - the idea of having samardjiza as your actual #3 rather than your fake #1 or #2 is pretty exciting to me. Sale/Q/Shark/Rodon is a hell of a rotation.
