QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 07:34 PM) that story isn't mainly about them harassing the black guy, it's about the response the woman receives. Exactly, she completely disregards an order from an officer when she picks him up and takes him with. This is the exact same type of basic disobedience that is used as justification for a lot of force. See video above where man has given information, is talking normally with another officer, is refusing to go out of the car after having a gun pointed at him by the officer, the officers response is to break the window and tase him. These are situations where nothing is explicitly wrong, but one is handled well and the other poorly. I can see the response now if this women was in a poor neighborhood and dragged down and injured "She was motioning threateningly with her hands and started coming at the officer. The officer was scared and took down in self-defense" And everyone would say "Why did she not stop when they said to?"

Sign of a city for a football team - cannot find 70000 people willing to spend $30 for 8 home games.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 08:27 PM) You are citing one season where the bears were rebuilding their stadium as proof? At a university full of students from the chicagoland area? That is even more of a crap argument Yes. Nobody was saying "ugh I don't want to go to a crappy stadium to watch football", people went because the bears were playing. People aren't going to the Rams games because they don't care about football.
-
I find that to be a crap argument. Bears fans filled up that crap ass Memorial Stadium which was 2 hours away. Most cities have a safe base of 70k fans each week eager to watch football.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/local/...is-fascinating/ I don't understand why this woman wasn't beaten and tased.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 02:09 PM) LA has proved multiple times that they really dont care about the NFL. That was 20 years ago, the NFL has grown leaps and bounds since then, and the Rams have been blacked out at home for like 15 straight years.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 9, 2014 -> 02:06 AM) Two teams that won't have fans show up. Good move NFL I can't remember the last game the Rams sold out in St. Louis. It's the 2nd biggest market in the league, it should have an NFL team.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 10:55 PM) That passes the test with a goo.gl. It's the url. Somehow. Funny I would think that solution would seem more spammy.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 07:16 PM) Also not a bad use for it...though I'm not a great multitasker, if I'm texting someone I'm not actually watching the video or paying attention. Then again, most people aren't good multitaskers even though they think they are. I thought that was a weird use case but then I thought about how when I'm on a train reading on a browser or choosing music how I'll forget to answer texts that pop up because I need to exit the app, go to the text app, answer, then return. This would be nice to just answer from a pop up screen.

Is the URL explicitly this: www.marqana.com or is there a tracking key or anything in the URL.

What coach out there is an improvement over Vogel? Hop on the VDN bandwagon again? I'm sure Mike Brown will get 4-5 more stints.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 06:43 PM) Yeah, an incredibly explosive return man but are the good returns worth the negative plays? Considering we are getting negative plays with bad returns, how much worse could we be?
-
Eh, it's not that hard to fire a coach.
-
Honestly he's a good enough coach and their issues seemed to be personnel. He still got them to the conference finals.

QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 03:24 PM) Alright, enough of this painting with a broad brush crap. It's not a broad brush, it is literally every U of I fan I know. Missouri has a bunch of Cardinals fans so I'm not trying to throw stones, but I've never seen another fanbase so focused on the payoff aspect of things. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 02:54 PM) OK, trying to find something to discuss aside from the next coach at Illinois. My projections for the playoffs/major bowls: Sugar Bowl/Playoff: #1 Florida State (13-0) vs. #4 Michigan State (12-1) Rose Bowl/Playoff: #2 Mississippi (12-1) vs. #3 Alabama (11-1) Cotton Bowl: #5 Oklahoma (11-1) vs. #8 Notre Dame (11-1) Orange Bowl: #6 Auburn (10-2) vs. Georgia Tech (10-3) [Orange Bowl is contractually obligated to take an ACC team] Fiesta Bowl: #7 Baylor (11-1) vs. #10 Oregon (11-2) Peach Bowl: #9 TCU (11-1) vs. #12 East Carolina (11-1) I'm not even gonna bother, my guess is while FSU may be undefeated, the rest of those teams are gonna end up with 2 losses. ole Miss is not going to end up 12-1. -

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 02:49 PM) I do have to say this is insanely ironic from a Mizzou fan. Since he took over Kansas, Self and KU have probably been investigated and busted more than any other program in the country. There's something to it at least. And I must be forgetting who Groce has lost out to Self other than Alexander. I'm sure there's someone, honestly can't remember. I don't think it is ironic at all. I hate KU with a passion but I completely recognize why kids go there. My point is that when Jimmy Whitt chose Arkansas over Missouri despite being from Columbia I don't remember a knee jerk reaction of "He was paid more" by Arkansas. And losing to Arkansas sucks because of Mike Anderson. But nearly every U of I fan I know that follows basketball has this instinctive reaction to assign the single reason all of these kids don't choose Illinois as they were better paid elsewhere. It's not a good look. It's not because I love to hate on Illinois, I'm basically forced to follow them just because of this board otherwise I wouldn't think about them at all. -

I've heard lots of Illini fans say everyone is dirty. Look, Kansas has great facilities, an incredible history and fieldhouse and the knowledge that if that if it's the best 2 or 3 programs in the country. When they come to talk to you, it just validates that you are the best to everyone. They also likely have a great booster network that is interested in helping out the team. This is also the case for many many programs. And if you sit down and listen to the recruits, every program is going to make you feel like you are taken care of, everyone has a great campus, but the thing that makes you put your ink down is the relationship you feel with the coach and program. Bill Self is Bill Self because he's made great relationships with programs across the country and those coaches trust him and those recruits trust their coaches. But if you listen to Illini fans, every recruit is about to sign on with Ole Jim Groce if not fer Bill Self comin in with a helicopter full of money! -
Thibs was playing a lineup of Brooks, Snell, McD, Nazr and Bairstow in OT against Drummond, Monroe and Jennings. Thibs really seems to at least have gotten it that there's no reason to risk anything in preseason. Last year Gibson/Noah/Deng/Butler/Rose would have trotted out to keep our undefeated preseason alive.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 02:17 PM) Sour grapes even before the guy spurns you. This is the Illini special. I don't see any group of fans have these types of comments of "offered more money" "got a better package" more than those fans. -
Brooks was great at the end. Sucks that Nazr decided to shoot the last 8 shots rather than passing to McDermott.

Solomon Jones is realllllly bad at everything.

Honestly Jay would still be frustrating but I have to think if we hired Bruce Arians rather than Trestman we would be talking about a 4-1 team right now. I haven't seen 60 minutes of inspired football from a Trestman team. It is always 2 quarters that are sometimes good enough to win. I still think of what was a tremendous coaching class that year we picked wrong. I've lost all faith that Trestman can run a team. As Thibs growls, they have enough to win. They aren't though.

QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 08:05 PM) Guess we know who the odd man out of the rotation will be Yeah I don't see him playing much this year. Unfortunately, that means Hinrich is gonna be playing like crazy.
